Morning
Stevie’s P.O.V.
I sat in annoyance as I fed this GROWN MAN his applesauce. I can't believe he is making me do this. Why? Because I kicked his manhood? HE BROKE MY DAMN DOOR?! “Stevie, baby why don't you eat?” My cheeks reddened in embarrassment while my brows furrowed. This man is enjoying this a little too much.
“You don't have to pretend right now. There is no staff around us.”
“I know,”
“Then why are you doing it?”
“Because it annoys the shit out of you.”
I knew it! I fed him his last spoonful of applesauce in his stupid, smug mouth before standing up. I collected his trash, grabbing it with my anger and annoyance obviously showing. I then made my way towards the trash can. Muttering under my breath curse words with each thing I threw away. “You know, you didn't have to stay?” I paused as I heard the man's words. I turned my head to look at him.
“Huh?”
“You didn't have to stay, but you did.” Why is he surprised?
“A random man who is used to the apocalypse somehow ended up in this world. Why would I leave you to figure out everything yourself?”
“Because I tried to kill you.”
“Mhm,” I looked at him with a smug smile. “And I got my payback. Just enough to stop you.” His brows furrowed while he gritted his teeth.
“Hey!”
“What, it's true, right? Anyway, I am going to get lunch downstairs. I will be back,” I said as I made my way towards the door.
“Cool, take your time. I am just going to sleep anyway.” I stopped as I heard his words.
I don't trust that
Especially when this man always had trouble sleeping. The only time I saw him sleep normally was when he was still under anesthesia. I turned to look at him. “You're going to try to escape.” He arched his brows.
“What makes you think that?”
“I know everything about you. Even how you think. I know your past and present. Especially how you used to escape anytime you felt as though you needed to. Including at this moment.”
“Listen, I am a grown man-”
“A man who is in a world he has no idea about.”
“Okay, but think about this. What will I do after I get out of the hospital? I have no social security card, no record of even being born anywhere, and I have only skills based on surviving the apocalypse.”
“So you were planning on escaping.”
“I didn't say that-”
“But you didn't deny it.” He groaned.
“Stevie,” his voice was low, irritated, but could freeze you in place. “Just answer the damn question.” Heat came to my cheeks. Hearing him just now, why did he sound so…hot! “Are you going to answer?” I didn't want to give him what he wanted. If anything, I felt joy in pissing him off. Yet that look in his eyes is keeping me stuck. He looked away from me in annoyance. Free from his gaze, I found myself finally able to answer.
“There are places where people are born and never have a record of existing. We could use that story for you.”
“People played my ‘game’ though. Who is to say I wouldn't look familiar to anyone?”
“One, your game hardly made any sales because a large gaming company released their game on the same day. Two, even though you may look familiar to some people, that will not stop you from getting citizenship. And three, if people recognize you, we could just agree that you look like your character.”
“And a job, how can I get that?”
“A job?”
“I would probably go crazy staying in your house and doing nothing.”
“Then, maybe we can examine your skills and how they can get you the right job.” He looked at me.
“You sure do have an answer for everything, huh?”
“Yup, anyway, I am going to eat,” I said before going to the door.
“Cool, I am going to rest.” I arched my brow at him. He sighed in annoyance. “I am being honest. I am tired for once.” I folded my arms. “What, do you want to sit here and try to keep me from escaping or something? You haven't slept in hours. You are going to fall asleep, and to make that doctor not suspect anything, I think it would be best if you lie beside me-” My face and my ears began to heat up. “If you are a cuddler, you would probably hug me or something. I don't know if I am or not, so I am not sure if I would-” I quickly left the room.
It's been a while since I truly experienced this with a man. I mean, I went on dates and stuff, but besides that, we never got far. And for him to be somewhat neutral about what he said.
Sleeping next to one another!
We hardly know each other. Why should we do that? Because we are fake-dating? “Stevie, I know you are still there, my love.” My eyes widened.
I need to go
I quickly made my way towards the elevator.
Luan’s P.O.V.
I stared at the door. Stevie’s shadow was no longer there, meaning she had left. It feels strange. She knows everything about me, and yet I hardly know anything about her. She has seen many of my experiences in ‘my game’. Including the ones with my family, the people I met along the way, and likely some of the experiences I had with women. My hand slid down my face.
She got to see that, too.
I can’t believe this.
