A Month Later, Stevie’s Home

I prepared my guest room for Luan. My eyes looked at how everything was.

Comfortable

Happy

And nice

I just wonder if it will freak him out or not.

My phone began to ring causing me to sigh. I already know who it is. I grabbed it and answered it. “You know, you could have waited five more minutes.”

“Then I would be stuck staring at the wall even longer,” Luan said.

“I thought you made a friend next door.”

“She is not as fun to tease as you are.” My brows knitted.

“So that's it? Why not watch TV or something.”

“Boring”

“Walk around the hospital?”

“Boring”

“Yet talking to me?”

“Fun” I sighed. When he gets here, I need to get him to socialize with others. I mean, he at least knows the names and is a bit comfortable with Celeste, Isela, and but buds with Z, but, besides that, it's only me he truly rants to.

“By the way, that doctor asked about you.” My cheeks reddened.

“He did?”

“No, but I know you have a blush on your face. Don't you?’ I scoffed and looked at my phone. I should hang up. “You like him right?”

“Used to, but we were not compatible.”

“You still feel something for him.”

“It's nothing.” Gee, why can't he tease me about something else. “In your home world, I know it is hard to sleep, even at the hospital it is hard for you. What can I do to help you?”

“I am not sure. It feels weird without thinking about what my next move is. I know you say that my sister ended up safe, but, I can't help but think of her journey. What damage my death caused. What problems she faced because of my teachings.”

“Luan, you were just being a big brother who wanted to help his sister survive and she did. Now, you have a chance to relax and live, knowing she is okay. Why not do that?”

“I don't know. It's easier when you are in my room. Probably because I know you.”

“Yeah, but I have to leave eventually, you know?” I continued to fix up the guest room.

“Yeah…” I think I can understand what he is saying. It's the fact that now he is alone, he is alone with his thoughts and memories. He feels better with someone he knows near, but without it, all he feels is his fear of the unknown.

“How long will you continue to fake that we are dating?”

“Until the moon turns purple, now get yourself ready, I will be leaving soon.”

“Okay, okay, see you soon my love.” He hung up, leaving me with my mouth a gape.

Luan’s P.O.V.

I continued to pack my things up while my mind ran wild. I would no longer be in this hospital room anymore. Instead I will be in Stevie’s home with just us two…and her cat who I scared the shit out of the first day I got here. I sighed to myself. How am I going to get her to like me?

There is only so much that Stevie can do. At least I have a bed to sleep in. The issue is that I hate the idea of sleeping in a room by myself. It's too quiet. Maybe if Stevie has a machine that plays music or nature sounds, it can help.

“Going back home huh?” I looked up to see the tall pink eyed man known as my doctor.

“Yeah, the doctor gave me the okay.”

“And you will not be driving right?” I sighed.

“No, Stevie insists that she does so.” He nodded his head.

“How do you feel about her?”

“How do I feel about my girlfriend?” I arched my brow.

“Yeah, man to man, how do you feel about her?” He wants me to say that I see her no more than a body to keep my bed warm. That I don't like her as much as he does. The thing is, I could say that, but I actually like Stevie’s company.

“I love her. Though things are early on, I can't help but feel this way for her.” He nodded his head. “So, I want to do everything I can to make sure I don't blow it with her.”

“And she is fine with your friend in the next room?” 

“The fact that my supposed friend is a woman? No, Stevie wants me to socialize more. So I will do so. As long as she is happy, I am happy.”

“Mhm,”

“So, what is your affiliation with Stevie? You seem to know her a bit.”

“My sister is her best friend.”

“Oh, that's it? I thought it was something else.”

“We went on a date once, but that was it.” There it is. The truth Stevie didn't want to talk about. This is going to be fun teasing her about.

“That's cool.” His eyes widened.

“You are not bothered by it?”

“No, I mean, I am dating her now. Why should I be bothered by it?”

“Wow, you two really do have trust in one another.”

“It's what builds a relationship.”

“And you are fine with her being a virgin?” I paused as I heard his sentence. Does he think that will scare me away from her? He has to think again.

“Yeah, it's something she cares about, so do I. If I only focused on sex it wouldn't make sense to have a romantic relationship with her right? Plus, even after losing her virginity, I wouldn't leave her. It took a lot to get Stevie to like me. I am not trying to have sex with her and leave. Its just fucked up. She doesn't deserve that.”

“I'm happy to hear that. Stevie is an amazing woman, so, many men try to come and get her heart…well, that is what my sister says.”

“And she has mine.”

“Luan” we looked behind my doctor. “Hey, I have to stop by my classroom to pick up the work my students completed.”

“Can you show me your classroom?” I asked her. A smile came to her face.

“Sure,” by week two of my time here, Stevie told me more about her. What her and her friends did for work, how she liked lemon ice cream, and how much she loved her life. It was light to the darkness I had been used to seeing. So, in return I plan to figure out something to be supportive of her.

I am not saying we are friends just yet. I still want to get to know her, but I don't mind her.
