This page is to provide a brief introduction to the main characters. It will all be explained in the story (especially in the first three chapters), but it may be useful to know before reading. Since this story is an AU of the "official" story of Whitebridge I'd like to someday tell, pieces of their backstories have been modified for the purpose of this AU.

Main characters:

Sonjay Colton (age 23, birthday May 22, height 6ft or ~182cm)

Family: Rachel and Simon Colton (mother and father).

Appearance: Light skin, jet black hair usually in a ruffled/messy style longer in the bangs than the sides. He has an average masculine frame with a lean and muscular build. While masculine, his facial features are a bit softer and less sharp. His most important physical trait is his heterochromatic eyes, his right a rust-brown and his left a dark blue. He is also known for his bright smile and playful smirks.

Voice head-cannon: I haven't found a perfect example, but Swim - Reprised by Valley and The One by The Chainsmokers come close.  

Key personality traits and major interests: He is the definition of a playful, optimistic, charming, humble, and joyful extrovert. He is always smiling, always joking (while being respectful depending on the situation), and always has something positive to say. He struggles to address his emotions that he deems as negative, especially if they negatively affect someone else. He is a people pleaser and extremely selfless, always doing something for someone else, often at his own expense and feelings. His biggest interests are art, specifically painting and drawing (usually landscapes). His art style I would describe as minimalist and colorful, as he paints the broad scene and rarely focuses on the details, instead focusing on the feelings, emotions, gestures and shapes of the landscape. And he'll never admit it, but he does enjoy fashion...

Backstory: Sonjay is the current prince of his home country, Whitebridge. His father is King Simon, a beloved and adored king. He is due to become king when his father resigns around retirement age, likely in the next decade. He has lived in the palace his whole life with his father as his only blood family. Due to birth complications, Sonjay's mother, Rachel, died after giving birth. His father is best friends with Dacian Noble, and the two families live together in the palace. Dacian's sons, Cronin and Eli Noble, are good friends of Sonjay's. Especially Eli, who have known each other their entire lives and are very close best-friends.

Elijah (Eli) Noble (age 22, birthday Feb 11, height 5ft 7in or ~170cm)

Family: Janet and Dacian Noble (mother and father), Cronin Noble (older brother)

Appearance: Auburn hair with his bangs faded to blond, blue eyes, naturally tanner skin with very faint freckles, and square black glasses. His hair is usually styled shorter on the sides than top, with his bangs having a wave/curl to them if left unattended. His features are very soft and gentle, almost effeminate, as he is borderline androgynous with his small stature, curved frame, and lighter toned voice. (He looks nothing like his father and everything like his mother).

Voice head-cannon: Stop and Stare and Waking Up by OneRepublic (this is pretty much exactly how I envision his voice.) Eli is a singer too, able to sing most anything, but his style of music and singing is usually more like Cody Fry or Sleeping at Last.

Key personality traits and major interests: Soft spoken, quiet, sensitive, introverted, stubborn, and known to have a temper if pushed too far. Feels things very deeply and is a very passionate person. Reluctant to accept help due to his stubbornness. He is known to slip into depressive ruts and has chronic insomnia and nightmares, having lived with depression his whole life. He is a gifted and talented musician (basically a prodigy) with his specialty and favorite being piano and cello (although he is capable of playing many stringed instruments). He is also an talented singer and he enjoys performing and playing for people when his anxiety to be on stage doesn't cripple him. (He has the interests and passions of his mother, but the personality and tendencies of his father.)

Backstory: He was born at the palace and raised around royalty his whole life. His father, Dacian Noble, is the best-friend of King Simon. The two friends met when Dacian was promoted to Simon's military advisor and captain of the Royal Army. Due to their close friendship and respected military roles, the family is treated with similar respect to that of the royals themselves. Eli grew up with Sonjay together as best-friends. He has an older brother of six years, Cronin Noble. His father has always been extremely military focused, encouraging Eli to learn combat and weapon skills. Much like his brother, Eli loves the discipline of it all. But his passion lies with music, so he pursued it instead of a military career. His mother, Janet Noble, was critical in his life. He loved her dearly, learned everything about music from her, and often found she was the only one able to help him sleep and think positively. She passed abruptly when he was 14 due to cancer, and he has never recovered even after eight years. He became reserved and closed off, afraid of letting people in for fear of losing them like he had his mother. She is why he prefers Eli as she called him Elijah and his full name has become too painful for him.

Major side characters

Cronin Noble (age 27, birthday Sept 25, height 6ft or ~182cm)

Appearance: Dark brown hair, pale skin, dark blue eyes. His hair is usually in a slicked back style, his bangs long and blending with the sides of his hair. He has a sharp masculine frame and a muscular build due to his work and interests. His facial features are sharp and defined. He is very attractive with smoldering smirks and frequent grins. He has a small, thin pale white scar through his right eyebrow. (He looks nothing like his mother and everything like his father).

Voice head-cannon: Still looking, but the closest I've come is something like I'm Okay by Honest Men. I imagine his voice is something deeper and soothing that matches his charming personality. But he is a captain, so it has to be aggressive too.

Key personality traits major interests: He is charming, bold, boisterous, confident, and narcissistic and egotistical (but only in a playful manner). He does not think he is better than anyone else, but the confidence of his personality gives off that energy. Underneath his hard exterior, he feels things very deeply and is extremely protective of his loved ones, though struggles to show those emotions. He hides his emotions behind confident smiles and a quick temper, but he does occasionally open up, although feelings are not his strong suit. His interests lie in that of military, combat, and everything in between. He loves learning new fighting styles, weapons, and especially pushing himself to new limits. (He has similar personality traits to his mother, but the same interests as his father).

Background: Just like Eli, the close friendship of his father and King Simon meant he was born and raised in the palace. At a young age he took an interest in his father's work and it became his goal to someday be a part of the Royal Guard. At the age of sixteen he went off to "bootcamp" where he learned everything he knows. But due to his upbringing, he was already very experienced and competent, easily surpassing his classmates and being the best in his class. Upon graduation he was assigned to the palace and was a night guard for a few years, during which he met his future husband, Kasey. Due to his talent in all things military, he was promoted to the captain of the Royal Guard roughly five years after his posting at the palace, making him the youngest captain ever. He is easily the most skilled captain in history as well, despite his age. He started training Sonjay in his self-defense training a year or two before he was promoted and became his official teacher with the promotion. He married Kasey a year or two before his promotion (his coming out and marriage is a key event in Eli and Sonjay's coming out stories).

Dacian Noble (age 51, birthday Dec 29, height 6ft 1in or ~185cm)

Appearance: Dark brown hair, pale skin, blue eyes, and usually supports a dark beard in the form of light stubble. His hair style is the usual slicked back businessman type, very firmly stuck back showing off his defined widows peak and strong sideburns. He is strongly built with a broad and angular masculine build. His features are sharp and his appearance is dark and intimidating. His most defining trait are the scars across his face. Thin and pale, they run parallel across his face with one starting between his eyebrows and the other through his right eyebrow, crossing the left side of his nose and ending together in the center of his left cheek.

Voice head-cannon: His voice is very deep and gruff. 

Key personality traits and major interests: Despite his firm and intimidating appearance, he tends to be a more soft spoken, nervous, reserved, and awkward individual, although he has a quick temper. He hides all his emotions behind a stoic and firm face, but underneath it all he is sensitive, protective, and prideful. He doesn't deal with embarrassment or opening up very well, and he tends to come across as angry and unimpressed even if he isn't. That being said, he is a captain and has been focused on military most his life, so all his softer emotions are well hidden behind the stern voice and commands of a military man. He enjoys spending time with his sons, especially when it involves teaching them about his passion for anything nautical and anything relating to military, self-defense, and weapons.

Background: Born and raised in the middle-class of Whitebridge, his parents were sailors and worked on the many ports of Whitebridge. When he was old enough, he travelled with them. The trio were a family of sailors and loved everything nautical. A freak storm claimed the lives of his parents while at sea, giving him his scars when he was seventeen. He met Janet before he enrolled in the Royal Guard and married her soon after graduation. He was stationed at the palace where he met Simon. After nearly ten years of service and due to his friendship with Simon, he was promoted to Simon's military advisor and later captain of the Royal Army.

Simon Colton (age 51, birthday Aug 1, height 6ft 2in or ~188cm)

Appearance: Black hair usually styled short with a subtle part on the right, and amber eyes. He has a typical masculine appearance and muscular build with broad shoulders and a narrower waist. His features are soft, but masculine and still defined. He is known for his very warm and welcoming smile and approachable appearance. He looks like the bold and intimidating kingly type, but because of his smile, eyes, and personality, he is very approachable.

Voice head-cannon: Simon has been the hardest to find a voice for, but it is likely soft, gentle, warm and welcoming. But his voice can also be strong and booming; He is the king after all.

Key personality traits and major interests: Due to his tall and broad stature, coupled with his title, he looks intimidating. But because of his friendly, kind, and sympathetic attitude, he is one of the most beloved kings of Whitebridge. He is very gentle, empathetic, understanding, loving, and kind. He is strict only when he needs to be and very rarely raises his voice in anger or frustration. He upholds himself with confidence and looks very regal, but at the same time friendly and approachable. He doesn't have much time for his own personal interests, but he has always been an academic and a history buff. He adores anything and everything his son does and loves him deeply, expressing this love however he can.

Background: His entire backstory is explained in the later half of chapter 3. But in brief, he had a strictly business relationship with his parents, simply being their heir and nothing more. His father, King Edgar, died due to sudden illness and his mother, Queen Mabel, abandoned her duties, leaving Simon to be coronated at a young age.
