The Mana Venture Capitalist IPO

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Nov 12, 2025

Ethan called an early meeting inside the pitch room Lorian Mira and the apprentices gathered around the long table still half covered with chalk diagrams Ethan placed a wooden slate at the center Today we begin the most important shift in our growth We start building teams Lorian frowned Aren t we the team Ethan shook his head Founders are not the team Founders build the team Mira asked How do we know who to choose Ethan raised one finger Philosophy The first hires must believe in the vision more than anyone else He wrote three words on the slate Vision Grit Learning Mira leaned forward clarifying Vision is obvious but why grit Ethan said Because startups especially magical ones break down often If the person cannot endure failure they will not survive in AMAX Lorian nodded quietly and learning Ethan said Because the world is changing If we do not learn faster than our rivals we become irrelevant He clapped his hands calling the first applicants Inside walked three young mages all nervous Their hands twitched with mana as they tried to appear confident Ethan introduced the structure We will not test your power We will test your thinking The first mage demonstrated a spell that made small floating lights dance across the room Ethan asked What problem does your spell solve The mage hesitated then said I do not know Ethan dismissed him gently saying Find a purpose for your magic and return The second applicant summoned a tiny stone familiar that repeated words it heard Ethan asked What goal do you want to achieve The mage swallowed To help people memorize things faster Ethan smiled Good vision Now what is your plan The mage froze unable to answer Ethan encouraged him Think Then speak Do not fear silence The mage eventually explained a rough plan for teaching spells through repetition Ethan nodded This one had potential but needed structure The third applicant was different A quiet girl with steady posture and calm eyes She placed three crystals on the table and whispered a simple chant The crystals rose rotated and aligned into a stable triangle emitting a low soft tone Mira looked impressed That is precise runework Ethan asked What do you want to build She answered in a steady voice Mana stabilizers Tools that reduce mana strain during long spells Lorian whispered That would help my fire sprites Ethan asked What drives you She said I watched my brother collapse from mana exhaustion If I can prevent that I will The room fell silent Ethan nodded slowly Here was a founder mindset depth purpose clarity He said to her What is your name She replied Aria Ethan said Aria you are hired The other two mages left and Aria remained standing with quiet determination Ethan turned to Lorian and Mira This is how a team begins You hire people stronger than you in their domain Mira nodded Aria will help us stabilize summoning circles Lorian added And she can help refine the sprite loop Ethan smiled Then let us begin Aria walked to the training floor and examined the runes etched across it She kneeled placed her hands on the stone and closed her eyes Concentrated mana formed gentle waves around her Lorian whispered She has perfect control Ethan nodded That is why we chose her Aria took a piece of chalk and rewrote a rune near the entrance She made the lines sharper the mana anchors cleaner and the path more stable When she finished she said Your runes were functional but inefficient I improved the flow Lorian looked shocked How did you see that so fast Aria said quietly My eyes respond to mana like others respond to color I see flaws the way you see shadows Ethan knew then he had made the right choice Aria refined the sprite path making the creature glide smoother She adjusted Mira s summoning anchors so the smoke hounds hesitated less Her precision elevated the entire hall Ethan gathered everyone again We now have our first official employee Aria This is how AMAX grows with vision and talent But growth brings responsibility We must provide structure He drew a new chart Team roles Founder Operator Support Lorian asked Which am I Ethan replied Founder Your role is innovation Mira is Founder too Aria is Support for now but she will grow Then one of the apprentices a boy named Ten raised his hand Sir are we expanding already Ethan said Yes and you will grow with us We will run more deliveries tomorrow three for FireCourier three for SummonLogistics Everyone will assist Aria spoke for the first time with calm authority If we refine the runes tonight we can increase efficiency by twenty percent Lorian blinked Twenty percent That is a huge leap Ethan smiled at her Welcome to AMAX Aria worked late into the night her hands moving with elegant precision while the sprite practiced loops and Mira s hounds tested reinforcement runes When the hall quieted Ethan watched them with a quiet sense of pride He whispered This is how companies begin one brave hire one shared vision one long night of work Tomorrow they would grow again Tomorrow more founders might walk through the door Tomorrow competitors might rise But tonight AMAX became something new Not just an idea but a real organization built on magic ambition and the relentless drive to change the world
