Lewiston Lee: All the Lost Boys

Final Confrontation

Final Confrontation

Nov 26, 2025

"Congratulations you two." The man with the scar said. "We should go out and celebrate."

"Sorry," Lewiston said in return, "I can't speak for Archie here, but I'm very tired."

"Oh come on now! My friends and I would like to buy you a drink."

"I don't drink." Lewiston lied.

"You do tonight," Scar brow said. Both men that were standing behind him, began to move for Lewiston and Archie. "Now come with us."

One of them walked over to Archie and grabbed him by the arm, making him whence in pain. The other man was expecting the same thing from Lewiston. He smiled at the thought of hurting this weak lawyer. His hand shot out to grab Lewiston, but Lewiston quickly stepped back and pulled out his pistol and pointed it past the man who was trying to grab him, but held the gun up by his ear as Lewiston took aim at the man who had Archie by the arm and fired.

The man who held onto Archie fell dead and Archie ducked for cover. The man who tried to grab onto Lewiston had his eardrum blown out by Lewiston's gun. He staggered around as he lost balance with blood pouring out of his ear.

Lewiston turned around to see the man with the scar on his eyebrow had his gun pulled halfway out. Lewiston shot him in the chest before he could pick his gun up even further. Lewiston's attention came back to his man who had fallen to the ground. His gun was now drawn as he tried regaining his balance. Lewiston shot him dead and he dropped to the floor again.

The lawyer looked around the courthouse at his handiwork to make sure everyone was dead. Archie crawled back up to his feet, looking stunned that he survived another attack. Lewiston took a deep breath as he asked, "You okay?"

Archie nodded, but then turned pale as he pointed and shouted, "Look out!"

Lewiston swung around and pointed his gun, ready to fire, but froze. Standing behind him was Mrs. Eva Harper. She had a small gun in her hand that couldn't possibly hold more than a couple shots. Regardless, she had it pointed and ready to kill. Lewiston's heart skipped a beat, then he fired. Eva held her breath and she fired at almost the same time as he did.

The two shots echoed around the courthouse as the lawyer and the widow stood still. Smoking guns still pointing. A tear fell down Eva's face. She wasn't shot. She turned to her right and looked behind her, to see a bullet hole in the wall. Lewiston stared blankly at Eva. He took a deep breath and felt he wasn't hit anywhere. He turned around to see Archie clutching his neck, gasping for air.. Lewiston watched as Archie gargled on his own blood in a last ditch effort to breathe. He then coughed up a mouthful of blood and fell over dead.

Lewiston looked back over to Eva who just dropped her gun arm, stunned by what she had done. She just stared at Archie's body as Lewiston walked over to her. He gently took the gun away from her and placed it into his pocket. She looked up at him, still processing everything that had happened.

"You did your job," she said, trying to sound brave, "And now I have done mine."

Lewiston put his hand on her face. Signifying that it was okay and that it was all over.

Sheriff Herman came running in. He had clearly heard all the gunshots as Lewiston was sure that the rest of the town had as well. He looked around at all the dead bodies and Eva wrapped up in Lewiston's arms.

"What happened?!" He exclaimed.

"These men ambushed us. They killed Archie in the crossfire," Lewiston answered.

"And her?" The sheriff asked as his eyes fell suspiciously on Eva.

Lewiston looked at her as she looked up at him wide eyed, curious at what he was going to say.

"She was hiding underneath the seats." Lewiston said.

Sheriff Herman gave him a nod of approval and, without saying another word, Lewiston guided Mrs. Harper out of the courthouse as Herman looked around at all the damage and death that was done.

Waiting for them outside was the crowd of people who had watched the trial. They all seemed stunned, scared, and above all else, curious about what had happened inside. Lewiston didn't say anything. He just continued to help Eva get through the crowd until, standing in the middle of the group, they came across Sawyer.

He had a surly look on his face. He was clearly not happy with the fact that Lewiston was still alive and enraged to see his arm around Eva. Lewiston stopped and let go of Eva and walked over to Sawyer. They stood face to face. Man to man.

"Once again, you've sent men to shoot at me," Lewiston said blankly. Sawyer puckered his lips as he refused to say anything. Then, at an instant, Lewiston punched Sawyer in the face and sent him sailing backwards. Sawyer crashed hard against the ground and let out a yelp in pain. Lewiston walked past him like he was nothing more than a bad memory.

"Damn," Lewiston heard Sawyer say, "Damn you!"

The crowd went to help their most prominent citizen, but Sawyer shooed them away and yelled, "Get off me!"

After hearing all the ruckus coming from outside, Sheriff Herman stepped out to see what was going on. Herman made it out just in time to see Sawyer stand up and pull his jacket back to reveal his gun.

"I've had enough of this!" He yelled at Lewiston, who just stood a few feet away from him. "You think you can just come into my town and ruin everything? My grandson is going to get justice one way or another!"

"Sawyer!" the sheriff called out, "I am a witness to everything right now. If he guns you down, I'll know it was in self defense."

Sawyer paused as he looked back at Herman. He sharply looked back at Lewiston and declared, "I don't care!"

Sawyer wrapped his fingers around his gun and got shot in the chest. He was so enraged, that he didn't notice that Lewiston had already slipped his hand in his pocket, earning the lawyer a head start for the duel. Lewiston made sure he pulled out the gun that Eva used and chose that weapon to kill Sawyer. It was the kind of poetry that Lewiston couldn't resist.

As Sawyer laid dead in the street that he helped build, his fellow citizens stared blankly at this once great man, now a fallen victim. Lewiston walked over to him with Eva's gun still smoking and tossed it on his chest and said, "Here. You dropped this."
