“Boss!” his men called from a distance.
He didn’t answer.
He simply stood there, grinning like a madman—fully savoring the chaos.
“Let’s go. We’ll head back for now,” he finally said, slipping on a dark, hooded jacket. His subordinates exchanged uneasy glances.
So, you’re alive, Chesca… Giovane thought.
And Mikaela, too.
You two can hide all you want—
but sooner or later, you’ll resurface.
And when you do…
I’ll make sure to list every single person who helped you.
Dad will be thrilled.
“Boss, your father’s on the line,” one of his men said.
Giovane took the phone immediately.
“Hello?”
“How’s the task I gave you?” the older man asked.
Giovane smirked. “You’ll be pleased with what I uncovered today,” he said, eyes gleaming with greed.
“What is it?” his father asked sharply.
“Your stepdaughter. Confirmed alive.”
“I told you that woman—Ellese’s twin—is still breathing,” the older man snapped.
Giovane chuckled darkly. “I can’t confirm the other one yet. But if Chesca’s alive… then Mikaela must be too.”
“You know what to do.”
“Oh, I know.” His grin widened.
“Keep me updated. I’m itching to kill those two,” his father growled.
“I’ll keep you posted,” Giovane said.
Then paused.
“Oh, by the way, Dad…”
“What?”
“You know Jake, right?”
“That bastard!” his father snarled. The fury in his voice made Giovane laugh.
“What about him?” the man demanded.
“Relax,” Giovane said mockingly. “Jake Diego Roman—my righteous cousin—is becoming a thorn in our side.”
“Is he involved?”
“He’s been working behind the scenes. The black market’s been disappearing, and I’m sure he’s the reason.”
“But there’s no proof.”
“Not yet. But he’s playing a game with you.”
“Cut the nonsense. I want results. When you call me again, it better be with those two women in your hands. They’re the only ones who can ruin me.”
“Don’t worry about Jake,” Giovane muttered. “I’ll handle him. He’s not the one who’ll take you down.”
“You’re scared of those sisters,” Giovane teased lightly.
“Work quietly. I’m busy.”
The call ended.
Giovane burst into a loud, maniacal laugh.
His men looked away, pretending they heard nothing.
“What now, boss?” one of them asked.
What now?
Same as always.
“First, dig into that woman—Jasmin. She’s been a problem. We need to silence her.”
He grinned.
I can use her.
Her death will flush Mikaela out.
And Chesca… she didn’t recognize me earlier.
He turned toward the path leading back to the city.
Jake Diego Roman…
Let’s see your next move.
I’ll play along.
As he walked, the forest loomed around him.
He didn’t fear shadows or spirits.
Abilities didn’t impress him.
Ghosts didn’t scare him.
In his world, only the strong survived.
He craved chaos.
He worshipped power.
He lived for the thrill of the hunt.
That was why he became his father’s henchman. Killing didn’t bother him.
Begging only entertained him.
He had spilled more blood than he cared to count.
Maybe I did inherit my father’s demonic nature.
He dialed a number, calling his right-hand man.
“Take over for a bit,” he ordered. “I have something more urgent to do.”
“Okay,” was the only reply.
Giovane hung up and began calculating—cold, meticulous.
Should I wipe out that woman’s entire family?
Pity didn’t exist in his vocabulary.
He didn’t kill for duty—he killed because it gave him peace.
I’m a murderer.
I don’t know mercy.
I don’t fear karma or ghosts.
If they want revenge…
let them come.
I’ll play with them, too.
I kill to satisfy my addiction.
He smirked, stepping deeper into the trees.
There were countless women whose disappearances he orchestrated—
their bodies found dismembered, discarded, forgotten.
Now…
Who will be my next victim?
His smile deepened.
