The Elven Data Analyst

Nov 14, 2025

The days after the mana storm prediction were unlike anything Evan expected. Word spread across the entire kingdom that a human had predicted a storm’s pulse cycle with perfect accuracy. Rangers shared how he saved villagers before the blast. Apprentices whispered about the strange glowing dashboards. Even Elders who previously doubted him now watched carefully from afar.

By the third day the city was buzzing with requests. Spell instructors asked for performance dashboards. Rangers wanted monster heat maps. Herbalists wanted mana soil charts. Even market vendors asked if he could predict good trade hours.

Lyriel found Evan sitting by a mana pond scribbling new log formats on large bark sheets. Her expression held amusement and concern. “You have become a phenomenon. The city is chasing you like a comet in the night sky.”

Evan rubbed his forehead. “And I cannot handle all these requests myself. In my world when data demands grow you form a team. Analysts. Engineers. People who keep records accurate.”

Lyriel nodded thoughtfully. “Then perhaps it is time you build such a team here.”

Evan looked up. “A data team. In a world that does not know data.”

“A guild,” Lyriel said. “In our culture a guild forms when new disciplines rise. The Spellwrights Guild. The Crystal Shapers Guild. If you want to spread your dashboards you must create the Data Guild.”

The idea struck Evan with a sense of inevitability. He needed people. He needed structure. He needed a team who could gather logs organize records build dashboards and teach others.

“Let us pick candidates,” Evan said standing. “But I need people who are curious not fearful. People who follow patterns not superstition.”

Lyriel led him to a courtyard where many elves practiced small spells or carved crystals. When Evan arrived they straightened nervously. Because they all wanted the same thing. They wanted to learn.

Lyriel raised her voice. “All who wish to learn the human’s methods may step forward. But know this. The work demands discipline. Accuracy. Logic. The path is long but rewarding.”

Dozens stepped forward immediately. Apprentices. Scouts. Artisans. Even two older elves who had long retired from active magic.

Evan looked surprised. “I expected five maybe six.”

Lyriel smiled. “You underestimate your impact. Many elves hunger for clarity. They have spent lifetimes sensing patterns without naming them.”

Evan cleared his throat. “Alright. If you want to learn we begin now.”

He divided them into groups. One group would handle spell logs. Another would manage mana pulse records. A third group would handle monster behavior tracking. Each group received simple bark sheets containing templates he created.

He walked among them correcting entries and showing how to keep consistent structure. Some elves wrote too poetically. Others tried to add emotional descriptions. Evan gently corrected these habits.

“No feelings. No interpretations. Only facts. Time. Result. Observed pulses. Accuracy.”

The elves adapted surprisingly fast. Their long centuries of study trained them to observe even tiny shifts. They had never logged them before but once they learned structure they became exceptional.

By midday the first detailed Spell Log Archive in the kingdom’s history was complete. By evening the first Mana Field Report existed.

The elders of the workshop approached and bowed slightly. “Human. Your guild works with efficiency unseen in generations.”

Evan smiled. “This is only the beginning. Tomorrow we build the first collaborative dashboard.”

Lyriel raised an eyebrow. “Collaborative”

“Yes,” Evan said. “A dashboard built by many hands. Where each log strengthens the pattern. A single person sees piece of truth. A guild reveals the whole truth.”

The elves looked around at their bark sheets and glowing crystals with renewed excitement.

Evan continued. “Each of you will send your logs to a central place. The Data Guild will become that place. And once we refine our systems we teach other cities. Other races. Eventually the whole world.”

The elves murmured with awe. The idea that knowledge could spread through structure not myth challenged everything they believed.

Lyriel placed a hand on Evan’s arm. “Your vision grows quickly.”

“It has to,” Evan said. “Because the world will not wait. Magic is unstable. Monsters move unpredictably. Mana storms grow stronger. We need data to keep ahead.”

Lyriel’s expression turned serious. “There is something else. A rumor. The dwarves to the east heard of your dashboards. They believe you have a device that can predict mana treasures. They are sending envoys.”

Evan blinked. “Mana treasures”

“Rare crystals deep under mountains. Highly explosive. Highly powerful.”

Evan sighed. “Great. That means more trouble.”

Lyriel smiled gently. “Welcome to the world you are changing.”

Evan looked at his newly formed guild elves taking notes with glowing crystal pens. They struggled. They learned. They asked questions.

For the first time he felt something more than responsibility.
He felt pride.

The Data Guild of the Elven City had been born.
And future dashboards would carry their mark.
