The Alchemy Startup Founder

Episode 16

Episode 16

Nov 16, 2025

Early morning fog wrapped the workshop like soft cloth. Sunlight seeped through slowly, revealing shelves, tools, and tables that looked more like an organized miniature factory than a humble alchemy shop.

Evan gathered the team around the central table. The map of expansion nodes lay in the center. Three locations. Three opportunities. Three risks.

“We start immediately,” Evan said. “Each node requires a different strength. And each node protects us from a different threat.”

Rynn crossed her arms. “We will need scouts. Supply bags. Safe routes. A way to hide movement.”

Branik agreed. “And we cannot use regular merchant paths. Black Claw watches them.”

Evan nodded. “Which is why we will create our own routes.”

He pointed to the first circle.

Node One: North Road Village

“Joss, Mira, and Garron will prepare this one,” Evan said. “North Road is quiet. Far from the Bureau. If we build a small material collection point there, we gain a northern supply chain.”

Loras frowned. “But they are distrustful of outsiders.”

Evan replied, “Then we enter as neighbors, not as alchemists. We buy from them fairly. We teach them what we can. If they feel valued, they join us willingly.”

Joss nodded nervously. Mira tightened her grip on her notebook. Garron patted both on the shoulder.

Node Two: Ember Basin Edge Camp

“For the Ember node we need strength,” Evan continued. “Rynn, Garron, and Branik will scout safe zones for building a small hut. Nothing fancy. Just enough to store ingredients and give our gatherers shade.”

Rynn looked at the map with a serious expression. “Monsters will return to that region after the titan died.”

“We know,” Evan said. “But risk makes this node valuable. The Bureau cannot regulate what they cannot reach. Ember materials give us leverage.”

Branik added, “And if we control the Basin, the Black Claw loses their monopoly on fire based potions.”

Garron cracked his knuckles. “We will secure it.”

Node Three: Guild Partnership Shelter

Evan circled the last location with firm pressure.

“This one is the most important. The adventurer guild in Oakedge can protect us from the Bureau. If they officially support us, the Bureau must justify any action they take.”

Talen swallowed. “Won’t that anger the Bureau even more”

“Yes,” Evan said honestly. “But it will also restrain them. They cannot act against a guild provider without causing political conflict.”

Loras nodded slowly. “Guild neutrality is strong. If they sponsor you, the Bureau becomes cautious.”

Evan smiled. “Exactly.”

He assigned Talen and Mira to prepare presentation materials for the guild. Potions samples. Batch cards showing consistency. Purity tests. Safety sheets. Everything needed to prove professionalism.

The plan was set.
Three expansions.
One week before audit.
A near impossible timeline.
Which meant the enemy would not expect it.

The team split into small groups and got to work.

Joss shaped metal molds for consistent spoon sizes.
Mira wrote clear instructions for the new node workers.
Talen tested heat stones for travel.
Rynn packed field kits.
Branik reviewed terrain.
Garron tested shields and armor.
Loras offered his old knowledge.

Meanwhile Evan created something new.
Something bigger than any batch card or ingredient chart.

A Franchise Charter.

It read

  • Shared knowledge

  • Standard process

  • Equal access to training

  • Safety above speed

  • No secrets

  • No exploitation

  • No black market influence

  • Transparent pricing

  • Documented procedures

  • Mutual support across all nodes

Loras whispered, “This is not just a workshop. This is a movement.”

Evan answered, “Exactly.”

As preparations continued the sky darkened again. Tension returned. Shadows moved at the edge of the street.

One figure approached.
A messenger from the guild.

He handed Evan a sealed letter with the guild emblem.

Evan opened it.

The guild master wrote
“Your methods have interested us.
If your system works tomorrow during live demonstration
the guild will consider official partnership.”

Rynn grinned. “That is the most guild like acceptance I have ever seen.”

Evan folded the letter carefully. “We prepare for tomorrow then.”

But the messenger hesitated. Then added quietly, “One warning. The Bureau visited us today. They tried to persuade the guild to refuse all ties with your workshop. They claim you are destabilizing the kingdom economy.”

Loras muttered, “Of course they did.”

Evan bowed his head. “Thank you for delivering this.”

When the messenger left, the workshop fell into heavy silence.

Talen whispered, “If the guild says no we lose everything.”

Evan placed both hands on the map firmly.

“No. We don’t lose anything. Because the system is stronger than any one ally. If the guild joins us we gain protection. If they refuse, we continue to grow. Either way, we do not stop.”

Rynn nodded slowly. “Tomorrow determines a lot.”

Joss whispered, “So does the audit.”

Branik added, “And so does the Black Claw.”

Evan looked at all of them with a steady expression.

“We are not aiming to survive. We are aiming to transform.”

He folded the map.

“Tomorrow we begin expanding our future.”
