Her head was spinning. It was the third take, and the crew was setting up for one more. He eyed her as he asked, "You okay?"
She nodded. "You're a good kisser." She looked down, embarrassed to have blurted that out.
"You are, too." He put his finger under her chin to lift it up. "Really. This must be a strange work day for you."
Trish shrugged. "I wanted to do promotions."
"I'm guessing this isn't what you had in mind," he said cradling her chin.
"Anything that is needed. I'm dedicated."
He laughed. "You sure are."
The director's voice behind them said, "Remember that pose. We'll roll in a minute when the lights are set. We need to do a close up."
Lin-ho kept his hand under her chin. She looked at him and asked, "Who was it you were singing to?"
"What do you mean?" Surprise showed in his eyes before he could cover it up.
"It had so much emotion. You had to get dumped by someone. Though how someone would want to break up with you, I can't figure."
He let go of her chin, looking away. Like he didn't want to be put on the spot about it. "It was a while ago. I wrote the song about it."
"That's the best kind of song. Real hurt and pain." Trish swallowed, feeling how he was vulnerable just telling her this. "If it helps any, I'm sorry. I just got dumped, a few days ago. It hurts, but it makes a great song."
He turned back to her. "Yeah. My pain, their money." He waved about him.
"Is that why you were reluctant to come out of your trailer?"
He flicked his eyes away again. "I couldn't do the scene with someone that looked like her."
"So, I'm the farthest you could get from the girl that hurt you?"
"Something like that." He kept looking at the ground. "But I did want someone that looked more Californian, too. We're trying to cross over to the States."
She moved her mouth slowly, her lips sticking ever so slightly. "And you needed an American girl to kiss."
"Maybe." He moved his hand back along his head, smoothing down his hair, looking back at her slightly.
She went up to him, relating with his rejection. She wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling the hairs of her arm brush against his exposed skin. "Well, I'm happy to help with that, even if it isn't in my job description."
"Right, hold that," she heard the director shout.
She froze, with her arms around him, his chest against her, his breathing deep in its rhythm against her body.
"We're going to start with that pose and use the talking as some background shots. Now, just ease into kissing her, and we're going to move the camera around you. Just keep going until you hear stop."
Had her mic been on this whole time? She didn't have much more time to think as all sound drowned out as In-ho moved closer. She closed her eyes and felt the gentle press of his lips against hers again. She savored his lips against hers. She lost touch with everything but the feel of his kiss. Shocks went through her, tingles, electricity. What was going on? He wrapped his arms around her, locking them in the embrace. He parted his lips more, and she gave herself over. Time was lost. Her thoughts were nothing but being in his arms. The spell was broken by a loud, "Stop. We've got it."
She opened her eyes and blushed. In-ho leaned his head against hers, and they just stayed like that for a moment, enjoying the feel of holding each other. It had been a long time since she had kissed anyone besides Brian. If she was being honest with herself, she and Brian had been moving apart for a long time before that text message. Their kisses hadn't felt like this in a long time, maybe they never had. She couldn't remember being breathless like this, ever. Too bad it was acting, and he was probably thinking of the other girl that he'd been hurt by. That broke the spell he'd put on her with his sensual lips. She leaned back, and there was an abrupt applause around them.
"Cut. I think we've got it. That's lunch."
This acting thing was just too easy. All she had to do was follow her heart. If it all stayed, just acting.
Sitting in one of the crew chairs, she was still overwhelmed from the experiences of the morning as the crew went for lunch. Everything was playing back in her mind. He had smelled so perfect. She was trying to forget how his arms had held her while they kissed in the scene. She had to break the spell over her. It was her job. Nothing more. She had to bring her mind back into focus. Playing an actress-model for the day felt wonderful, if not a little confusing.
She took a breath. She could do this. Act for just a day. Back when she was a twelve-year-old kid doing community theatre, she would have killed for a chance like this. But she'd given up that dream for more realistic ones. To be stumbling into this now was unreal. And him. Woo Lin-ho. He was part of that dream.
Felicia came over with a tablet in hand. "Thank you so much. You saved the shoot." She looked down at the tablet. "We're only a little behind schedule, but if we couldn't get him to do that scene with a girl, the rest of the video would not have made sense." She shook her head. "I don't know what the problem was."
Trish answered, "He mentioned it had to do with the actress looking like his ex-girlfriend."
Felicia hit her forehead. "Shit. I had no idea."
"I seem to be the furthest from looking like her. It seemed to make it easier for him."
"Oh, my God. You are a natural for this. Half of dealing with these shoots and promotions is keeping the stars happy." Felicia folded her arms, looking her up and down. "I'd say you've passed your first test with flying colors." She leaned in closer, lowering her voice. "Just keep him working today, and I'll give you a bonus."
Trish's eyes widened. "Really? Just for making sure In-ho still is able to do the scenes?"
"Trish, you saved the day. You deserve it. Now, I'm going to get back to talking to the director, and seeing how the rest of the band is doing. Ask anyone to bring you lunch. You're an actress for the day. You might even get a SAG card for this." She winked and walked away.
One of the make-up crew said she'd go get Trish some food and brought back a sandwich and bottle of water. She thanked her, and watched the crew set up for another scene while she ate. This time, it looked like another part of the street was going to be used with the beach behind it. The band members were now all wearing matching deep royal blue suits, including In-ho, and practicing some coordinated dance moves.
"Wow, they're good," she said sipping her water.
"They're one of the top Kpop bands right now. This new comeback is going to be big, I hear," the hairdresser standing next to her said. They watched the band do some cool coordinated moves that combined shoulder pops, hand swings and hip hop kick pops with some sexy moves. Sometimes a member would stop and point towards the camera. It would make any teen swoon, and was making her appreciate the effort put into the whole Friends5 look. She was a part of it now, and it made her a little giddy despite her nerves.
She took another sip of water, then picked up the small script that gave a break down of the few lines and different scenes being shot. Near the end, she found "Girl" and read through the scene. The band would sing all around her, and then there would be a closing kiss with In-ho. She read it again. A closing kiss with In-ho.
She whistled. "Wow. This is some day's work."
"You're going to be envied by half the population of Korea and large parts of Asia, you know. Likely most of the States too." said the hairdresser, adjusting some of her hair as she sat in the chair.
"In-ho said the 'Girl' he sings to is based on one of his ex-girlfriends," said Trish.
The hairdresser leaned closer, "But you're going to be the one that all his fans see."
"But this part in the end, where she gives in to him." Trish pointed to that part of the script. "That's a happy ending. I don't think that's what happened."
"It's all fantasy," said the hairdresser, picking up some of Trish's hair and wrapping it around a curling iron. "Maybe that's how he wanted it all to end."
Trish thought about that. Why wouldn't he want the actress that looked like his girlfriend to give him the happy ending? Unless the fantasy was too painful for him. She pursed her lips as the hairdresser added more curls around her head. Maybe there was a lot more to Woo Lin-ho then she had thought. Hopefully, she could find out more.
