She closed her eyes, and tried to relax in the hairdresser's chair, letting her whole new job experience sink in. She didn't ever expect to be put in this situation, but luckily she'd done the theater stuff as a kid. It's what led her to the radio promotions job in college and now here. So, all this acting stuff was really fun to her. Promotions was exciting too, since you got to be in charge of making magic happen. It was a great way to be part of the excitement of the music industry without having to sing or go through crazy auditions. She hated those. Not to mention a steadier paycheck.
She couldn't help but wonder about what the hairdresser said about his fans. She snorted. They would just think that she was a model or actress hired for the video. Nothing else, of course. It was just in a day's work.
She relaxed in the chair, waiting for her hair to be done, and heard a whistle. She opened her eyes to see one of the directing assistants standing near her with headsets on. "They're ready for your scene now. Have you looked through the script?"
"Yes. Looks like I just stand there and let them sing to me, and then we kiss again like before."
"You got it. You're such a professional." He winked at her, and she couldn't help but smile. She guessed she was now. Whatever needed to be done. That was very professional.
She followed the directing assistant to where the band was all set up in the street. Her spot was an "X" at the center of where the band stood around her.
"Okay." The director looked very serious and talked fast. "Just let the band dance around you, and when they interact with you, react by rejecting In-ho. Let him try to convince you."
She nodded to the man in the red baseball cap as she thought, "Convince me of what?" But before she could voice the question, she heard the playback music start up.
The director shouted, "Action," while sitting on a black folding chair behind a playback screen.
The band started their moves, mouthing the words to the song as they danced. She watched them dance and motion towards her. Then, In-ho came up behind her. He reached around, wrapping his arms around her, putting his head near her shoulder, and singing into her ear.
Shivers went up her back. She didn't need to act those. She leaned naturally into his embrace. The other band members continued dancing, while In-ho's hands moved up her hips, pulling her closer. She closed her eyes. He whispered in her ear, "Give me one more chance." She nodded her head.
He turned her, and as she opened her eyes, she felt his lips upon hers again. She melted into him, wrapping her arms around his neck, and letting him kiss her softly, touching her lips in a gentle, caring way. How could anyone dump this guy?
She heard the word, "Cut", but In-ho didn't stop. They continued kissing, and an "Ohhhhh" rose up from the crew. Only then did he stop, letting her go, and she backed up a little out of breath. She looked down, and heard the director say, "You should take that back to a hotel room." There was a round of laughs, but when she looked back at In-ho, he looked serious, never breaking eye contact with her.
He reached out to take her hand, "You look amazing."
"Thank you."
The director started giving directions in Korean and In-ho said, "He's giving directions to reset. He wants a different camera angle for the last scene." He whispered in her ear. "I hope your boyfriend doesn't mind this."
"I don't have a boyfriend anymore, remember? We broke up."
He broke into a smile. "Just checking I got my facts right." He looked around. "We'll have to do all that again, you know? You up to it?" he smiled back.
She nodded. "No problem. It's my job."
He stopped smiling, and said, "Of course." He dropped her hand and they both got back into place. Had she said something wrong? She knew she shouldn't look at him, but she glanced sideways to see him looking down. Did mentioning kissing him was her job, upset him? He was a fabulous kisser and absolutely gorgeous. But she didn't really know him. He had to know it was acting.
She focused her thoughts on Brain again, to feel like she could really reject him. But when the music started, and the Friends5 members started to dance around her, knowing what was coming made it harder to stay mad.
Then, she felt his arms wrap around her again. This time, a cameraman had a handheld camera that he walked around them. In-ho whispered the line, "Give me another chance," in her ear, and she felt herself agreeing, giving in to him. When he turned her around, she couldn't help moving into him, giving in to his smell and feel of his soft lips. Cinnamon and spice.
She heard the word "Cut", but neither of them stopped kissing until In-ho stopped, moving apart first. He looked over at the director. "Now, I think we're done." He smiled at everyone, and she looked down, hoping she didn't have a huge blush showing through her make-up.
She heard the director say, "Print that. I think we've got it. Let's wrap this."
With those words, In-ho walked away, and she felt the coldness of her empty hands where she'd been holding his.
