Nature Tycoon of the Magic Realm

Nov 17, 2025

The village was awake when they returned even though it was still deep in the night. Fires burned along the platforms. Riders stood ready with harnesses. The eagles paced restlessly sensing the tension in the air. When Siroth landed the High Elder approached with urgency.

Arwyn dismounted first. “We found the source.”

“Speak,” the elder said.

Ethan stepped forward. “A circle of black stones. Not natural. Not from this valley. It was draining the ley line. Pulling the magic into itself.”

Murmurs filled the hall behind them. The High Elder’s face darkened.

“Was it destroyed,” he asked.

“Yes,” Arwyn said. “Ethan felt the weakest point. We broke the pattern. The land healed.”

Ethan added, “The circle was made with intent. Someone carved those stones. They placed them with precision.”

An elder with braided hair stepped forward. “Did you see marks. Runes. Anything that tells us who made it.”

Ethan shook his head. “No runes. No symbols. Only a design meant to drain energy.”

Another elder spoke. “Then it was an extractor. A tool for stealing thread magic.”

Ethan frowned. “Are such things common.”

“No,” the High Elder said. “Because building one is forbidden in every valley. Only rogue mages or foreign kingdoms would dare.”

Arwyn crossed her arms. “Then someone from outside wants our land’s power.”

The High Elder gestured for everyone to gather inside the hall. Ethan followed. Torches lit the room. The walls felt heavy with history. The elders took their seats around the fire pit. Arwyn stood beside Ethan, her posture sharp and prepared.

The High Elder began. “Tonight we discuss what must be done. The valley is not safe. A thread has been wounded. And an outsider mage may be searching for more.”

Ethan felt the weight of dozens of eyes turning toward him.

The elder continued, “Ethan Hale, you have seen the threads more clearly than any of us. You have shaped a safe path. And now you have helped heal the land. We must ask you something.”

Ethan swallowed. “What do you need.”

The elder’s voice lowered. “We need you to map the threads.”

Ethan blinked. “Map them.”

“Yes,” the elder said. “We need a full pattern of where the threads run strongest. Where they cross. Where they bend. If the enemy seeks to drain them they will target the powerful points. We must protect those first.”

Ethan understood immediately. “You want to create a protective system.”

Arwyn added, “A network of guarded sites. A shield for the valley.”

Ethan closed his eyes for a moment. His mind filled with the glowing vision he saw in the Whispering Grove. The valley was a living web of magic. A system of balance. It could be mapped. It could be protected.

When he opened his eyes he said, “I can do it. But I will need to walk much farther than the Blue Water Trail. I must see every ridge. Every river. Every grove.”

Arwyn smiled faintly. “Then we walk with you.”

But the High Elder raised a hand. “Not yet. Before we send scouts we must decide your role. You are not one of us by birth. You are a stranger. Yet the land calls you.”

He stepped closer to Ethan. “Will you accept a formal position. A role among our people.”

Ethan stood straight. “What role.”

The elder raised his staff. “We ask you to become the valley’s first Nature Guide. One who sees the land’s flow. One who shapes paths. One who protects the threads.”

Whispers spread through the hall. Some excited. Some cautious.

Arwyn spoke softly. “It is an honor. And a duty.”

Ethan felt his heartbeat rise. A Nature Guide. The title felt like a mix of his old life and this new world. A bridge between what he once did and what he must do now.

He took a breath. “Yes. I accept.”

The hall hushed.

The High Elder placed his staff gently on Ethan’s shoulder. “Then from this moment on you carry the valley’s trust. You walk with the land. You protect its balance. You shape its future.”

A soft hum rose through the floor. The ley line beneath the hall glowed faintly. The land itself recognized the moment.

Arwyn placed her hand over her heart. “Guide Ethan. The valley welcomes you.”

Ethan felt a rush of warmth. For the first time since arriving in this world he felt like he had a place. A purpose. Something built not from luck but from choice.

The High Elder stepped back. “Your first task as Nature Guide is to complete the Blue Water Trail. Make it safe. Make it strong. Then begin mapping the threads toward the east. That region holds the second strongest flow. If the enemy returns they will go there next.”

Ethan nodded. “I will start at dawn.”

Arwyn smiled. “And I will join you.”

The High Elder raised his staff. “Rest now. Tomorrow begins a new chapter for our valley. And a new chapter for you.”

Ethan left the hall with Arwyn. The night sky was bright with stars. The valley glowed beneath them. The threads pulsed like rivers of light.

Arwyn looked at him with calm certainty. “You are no longer just a traveler. You are part of this place.”

Ethan exhaled slowly. “Then I will protect it.”

Siroth let out a long steady call across the sky.

The land answered with a quiet shimmer.

The work of the Nature Guide had begun.
