Nature Tycoon of the Magic Realm

Nov 17, 2025

Deeproot Basin was deeper and darker than Ethan imagined. After leaving the spirit spring he and Arwyn traveled through narrow passages formed by massive roots. The trees above towered hundreds of feet high. The air felt thick with ancient magic. Each breath tasted like old wood and moss. The threads beneath the ground vibrated with nervous tension.

Arwyn spoke in a low voice, as if afraid the forest might hear too much. “We are close. The threads always grow louder near the basin.”

Ethan nodded. “I can feel them. They’re almost… singing.”

Arwyn smiled faintly. “The land speaks to you more clearly than to anyone I’ve ever known.”

But Ethan was too focused to reply. His senses tingled with every step. The threads pulsed in rapid waves, not steady like before. They were warning him. Urging him forward. Urging him to hurry.

At last the forest opened. They stepped onto a natural ridge overlooking a valley unlike anything Ethan had seen in this world.

Deeproot Basin stretched out like an enormous bowl carved by ancient forces. Thousands of roots interlocked across the valley floor forming a giant web. Streams of glowing green flowed down into the center where a massive dome of roots pulsed with light.

Ethan whispered, “The heart.”

Arwyn nodded slowly. “The ley heart.”

It glowed like a living core of the world. The dome throbbed with soft rhythm. Each pulse sent waves of magic through the basin and up the valley walls. Ethan felt those waves move through him like ripples of warm river water.

But the beauty lasted only a moment.

At the far edge of the basin stood figures.
Shadowed. Hooded.
Six of them.

They formed a circle around a stone pedestal carved with runes.

Arwyn grabbed Ethan’s arm. “They’re already here.”

Ethan felt his chest tighten. “We’re too late.”

“No,” Arwyn said. “Not yet.”

One of the hooded figures lifted his staff. A beam of dark energy shot from its tip and washed across the dome of roots. The heart pulsed weakly, then dimmed.

Ethan gasped. “They’re forcing the heart open.”

Arwyn drew her blade. “We stop them.”

Ethan shook his head. “We can’t fight all of them alone.”

Arwyn looked at him. “Then what.”

Ethan studied the threads. The flows beneath his feet ran in spirals toward the basin. The Extractors stood on the convergence point. If he could redirect the threads—just for a moment—it would disrupt the pedestal.

“Arwyn,” he said. “We can’t attack them directly. But the land can.”

Arwyn blinked. “How.”

“By shifting the thread,” Ethan said. “The land showed me how the heart moves magic. If we redirect the flow the pedestal will collapse.”

Arwyn nodded. “Then show me.”

Ethan knelt and pressed his palms to the ground. The magic surged into him with overwhelming force. He felt the structure of the basin. The roots. The threads. The channels.

He saw the connection point.

A thin line of magic that fed into the pedestal.

He could move it.

“Arwyn,” he said. “I need you to guard me. No matter what happens.”

Arwyn positioned herself between him and the Extractors. “I will.”

Ethan closed his eyes and pushed.

The land resisted at first. Moving a thread was like shifting the flow of a river. It fought him. It pushed back. But Ethan was not forcing it. He was guiding. Redirecting. Like shaping a trail across unstable ground.

The thread shifted.

A low rumble echoed across the basin. The Extractors paused. One shouted something in a harsh language. Ethan pushed harder. Sweat dripped down his face. His arms trembled.

The ground cracked.

The pedestal tilted.

Arwyn shouted, “It’s working!”

But the hooded leader slammed his staff into the ground. Dark veins of magic shot across the roots. The pedestal stabilized.

Ethan gasped. “No. I almost had it.”

The leader raised his staff again. “He is controlling the thread,” Arwyn said. “He is fighting you.”

Ethan clenched his teeth. “Then I push harder.”

He focused again.
He felt the heart beneath the roots.
It pulsed weakly, afraid and strained.
He reached toward it—not with force but with understanding.

He whispered softly, “Let me help you.”

The heart pulsed in response.
Strong. Warm.
But desperate.

Ethan guided the pulse upward.

The basin shook.

The threads surged.

The pedestal’s runes flickered—and then shattered.

A wave of pure magic exploded outward.

The Extractors screamed as the force slammed into them. Two were thrown into the root walls. One collapsed instantly. The hooded leader remained standing but staggered backward.

Arwyn shouted, “Ethan, now!”

Ethan rose, breath shaking. “We have to get to the heart.”

Arwyn nodded. “Then move.”

They ran across the roots. Siroth swooped down from above, scattering the remaining Extractors. Ethan and Arwyn reached the dome of the heart just as the hooded leader lifted his staff again.

The leader’s voice echoed across the basin. “You cannot stop us.”

Ethan stepped forward. “The land does not belong to you.”

The leader aimed his staff at the dome. “You do not understand the power you protect.”

Arwyn positioned herself between Ethan and the leader. “And you never will.”

The leader swung his staff. A bolt of dark energy shot toward them.

Siroth dived.
His wing intercepted the blast.
Magic shattered across the air like broken glass.

Ethan placed both hands on the root dome.

The heart pulsed again.
Stronger.
Clearer.

Arwyn shouted, “What are you doing.”

Ethan breathed steadily. “Calling the guardian.”

The ground trembled.

A deep sound echoed through the basin.

Roots shifted.
The earth shook.
Light burst from the heart.

The guardian spirit emerged again—
taller
stronger
brighter
than before.

The leader froze.

The guardian raised its hand.

“Leave this land.”

A wave of energy surged outward.
The Extractors vanished into dust-like shadows.

Silence followed.

Arwyn looked at Ethan. “You called the spirit.”

Ethan exhaled. “No. The heart did. I only asked.”

The guardian spirit lowered itself until it faced Ethan.
“Nature Guide. Protect the heart. Its future is tied to yours.”

Then it dissolved back into the roots.

The basin quieted.

Arwyn placed her hand on Ethan’s shoulder. “We did it. For now.”

Ethan looked at the glowing dome. “This was only the beginning.”

The threads beneath the basin pulsed with renewed strength.

Ethan understood the message.

The land needed him more than ever.
And the Extractors would return—stronger and better prepared.

But so would he.
