Jenny felt quite empty when Eugene graduated from the academy. So, after a year of contemplating, she used her privilege as a princess as an excuse to sought after him in the royal palace. She secretly went to the knight's training grounds hoping to see him there. She did this frequently and she still hasn't found him yet. Her visits became a buzz among the young knights as they wonder if the princess was perhaps interested with one of them. They became excited and some even deluded themselves with ulterior motives to approach and court her or propose in the coming of age ceremony to boost up their status. However, the princess eventually stopped coming so they thought, maybe she tried to find someone she would be interested in among them but they didn't passed her fancy. In a way they are correct, since she really was looking for a specific someone and even if that wasn't the case, no one lived up to her standards. And why did she stop coming? Of course since she finally found him. Jenny was about to give up after a few weeks of soul searching until one night. She cannot sleep because she keeps thinking about how frustrating this boy is. Although they were not friends, she thought they became close enough to keep in touch. But not a word nor a letter. She was also confused why she was feeling irritated because it's not like he was oblige to do so. She reminded herself again the fact that they're not even friends. And it drives her crazy she can't do anything about it. Maybe she didn't need to be so demanding back then. Looking back last year, she was so childish competing against three years her senior. But if she didn't, he will never look her way or even became aware or her existence. She thought she should be thankful at least they interacted. Well, she really was childish and it's normal for her age to be. Afterall she's only age 13 now. She was taking a walk and found herself near the knight's training grounds again. She sighed as she realized where her feet brought her. It was already so late at night so she thought maybe she can swing some slashes a bit to release some steam and stress. But when she entered, she quickly hid herself. Someone was practicing alone there so she thought what a bummer and was about to head back but then she recognized him. It was this punk Eugene, the main culprit of her restlesness. She watched him practiced and wondered why he was doing this all alone and at night. Knowing him, she realized that maybe he still hasn't fit in the knightage yet. Since this kid is a loner way back then. Sir Julian Ashford, the captain of The Obsidian Vanguard (black knight order), currently the strongest knight leading the four knight orders took Eugene under his wing after witnessing his potential. On a very normal day, they were dispatched as usual to chase down a certain monster. However when they caught up to the scene, it was already pinned down by a young lad who was passing by on his way back to the capital after visiting his parent's hometown. It was a random but fateful encounter. So even as a white knight, Sir Julian and the two other captains requested Eugene's assistance on secret missions and it only proved his worth that got him thinking he made the right decision. He was so helpful that Sir Julian thought Eugene could one day replace him. He didn't recruit him to become a black knight right away since he wanted him to rise up with his own efforts and he didn't want him to be arrogant. He wanted Eugene to grow up properly, create friends he could trust along the way but this lad is just too serious. All the more reason he need to stay and start in The Ivory Aspirants (white knight order). He advised him to make some friends his age since the black knight order are flooded with full-fledge grown and mature men. Eugene agreed to try but it is clearly not going well. He didn't made friends that are for keeps in the academy. And as you can see, he's practising alone and was even caught by the sneaky little princess. Jenny saw the light in his eyes and he was so sparkling. So she decided to also work harder so she can work along side him in the future. From time to time, she passes by the knight's training grounds and saw him making progress, getting along with the other white knights his age which made her proud and satisfied. She also sometimes sneaks up to peek at him during his self practices at night whenever she feels down or unmotivated. At this point you may think she's a stalker since she memorize his patterned schedule but really, it's not that frequent. Like duh, who has that much free time when you have a lot of subjects to study in the academy and a lot of princess classes, lessons, and duties back home in the royal palace. Two years quickly went by until their next meeting but not much has changed. She's still too young and immature for him. At age 15 she realized that that she had a long time crush on Eugene. She told herself, it's just a puppy love. It's not that deep. But as she officially joined The Ivory Aspirants, everything became clear.
This was one of my initial story boards that I wanted to write. Most of the story ideas I had were in a modern setting. The typical japanese shoujo manga trope (high school, college romance). But I after I came across and became fond of rofan (romance fantasy, a korean manhwa genre), I wanted to try and produce that type of story. As of the moment, this is the only rofan story I have. One friday on the third week of October during my 25th year, I finally started writing this story after having a chat with my superior at work about publishing my writing. I already shared some of it to her verbally before. But I wanted to share a story to her with my own writing that's why I pulled out my phone, opened my rusty ole notes, scrolled through my story boards, and I finally chose this as the first story to tell. It became the start that sparked my imagination and I was able to unleash my heart. I hope to share this story with many more people. Now I went out of the shell and pulled my determination to publish this and more.
