I was the last to wake up. Yesterday had been more emotionally exhausting than I realized. Chase, Alek, and I were still cuddling, even though they were both awake. It was comforting.
"Good morning, Beautiful," Chase smiled. I smiled back. Chase leaned over Alek to kiss me. They were adorable.
"Good morning," I responded. "Are you guys ready to head into the woods today?" I asked.
"Yeah, we should eat breakfast, then check out the abandoned building," Alek responded. "Also, good morning," Alek continued, leaning in to kiss me. I kissed back, then pulled away from them.
"Um, I am really enjoying this, but I don't think we should continue this until after we find Peter. This is all so new and confusing, and I think we should focus on finding our friend, then figuring out what we are," I explained, scared to face them. I really wanted to have this relationship with them, but I just think it needs to be after we find our friend.
"What? I thought this was okay. That this would keep us stable," Alek said. His voice cracked, and I could not bring myself to look at him. "Jayden, you said this was okay."
"I know what I said last night, but I think we should just wait until after we find out where Peter is. That should be our main priority," I continued.
"Why can't we do both?" Chase asked. We were all three standing now, and Chase wrapped his arm around Alek's waist. It pained me to watch. "Alek and I agree that we two are staying together through this, whether you are or not."
I nodded. "I hope you two still want me when this is over, then. Let's go investigate the old shed," I replied, putting an end to this conversation. We quickly ate breakfast in silence, then grabbed our supplies. I started heading into the woods, and the other two followed closely behind.
"Um, what are we going to do if there are people there? Like, people who want to hurt us?" Alek asked. I opened my mouth to respond, but Chase cut me off.
"We'll make sure that they don't hurt us. Don't worry too much, Sweetheart. It's going to be okay," Chase reassured. The pet name made me melt, then I felt a pang of sadness.
We eventually came upon the old shed. I stood and stared at it for a while. Peter could be in here. What would we do if he isn't?
"Well, are we going to go in?" Chase asked. I nodded, pushing open the doors. I didn't see anything, but the smell instantly hit me.
"God, it smells like something died in here," Chase complained. Alek and I turned to him, and Chase realized the weight his words carried. "Oh, sorry."
Alek carefully walked ahead of us. "It smells like it's coming from over there. Maybe we should look," Alek whispered, pointing to a corner that was hidden by a wall.
"I'll look," I stated. I slowly walked over to the wall. When I peeked behind it, I let out a painful scream and fell to my knees. Chase and Alek looked terrified. "Don't look. Don't look behind the wall. You shouldn't have to see this. Just call the cops. Tell them we found several missing persons."
Chase pulled out his phone and started to call the cops. Tears were streaming down his face. Alek stared at me. not wanting to understand what I had said.
"Jay? Is Peter behind that wall?" Alek whispered. I gave a small nod, looking back at the body of my dead friend, along with the bodies of several other people who were probably missing as well. Alek dropped to his knees, letting out sobs. Chase wrapped his arms around Alek and finished up the call with the cops. I sat alone.
We stayed like that until the cops came and led us out. They separated us for questioning and asked several questions. I watched them carry Peter out in a body bag. I started throwing up, and I felt a hand on my back.
"It's okay, love. We'll be okay," Chase whispered. His voice was broken. "I know you said you wanted to wait until we found Peter, and I understand if you still want more time, but I'm here for you."
I turned around, gripping onto Chase. Alek came up and wrapped his arms around both of us. We stayed like that for a while, letting out all of our emotions.
Eventually, my mom approached us. I remember the cops asking me if there was anyone they could call, and I told them my mom. "Let's go home," She said.
The four of us walked to my mom's car, climbing in. She drove us all to my house, and we silently walked inside. I went straight to my room with Alek and Chase, and I shut the door. We all lay on my bed together, not saying anything.
A week later, Alek called me to let me know that Chandler had been charged with the murder of all those people. Peter's parents had contacted me to thank me for helping them find justice. Chase and Alek visited me every day to just sit with me and make sure that I'm okay.
Today, when they knocked on my door, I actually got out of bed to answer the door. "Hey, how are you feeling?" Chase asked me. He's asked me this every day since we found Peter.
"Fine, for once," I sighed, looking up at Alek and Chase. They both looked at each other in surprise, then smiled. "I think I want to go do something today," I added.
"Like what?" Alek asked.
"Like a date? If you two would like that," I smiled, looking down at my shoes. Chase lifted my head, then kissed me deeply. It was our first kiss since Peter was found. Alek leaned over to kiss me as well. "So, dinner?" I asked.
We went to dinner, and I actually felt happy for a bit. I was able to laugh again, and it made me feel a little bit better. After dinner, we went back to my house. We all lay down on my bed, and I put a movie on my laptop. Alek and Chase moved closer to me, pulling me tighter. It felt nice, and I finally felt at peace.
It has been a year since I started writing this story, and I wanted to give it a nice ending. I have become better at writing during this year, and I have exciting plans for a new story here. Hope you enjoyed!
