Chapter 6 – First Contact with the Distortion

Chapter 6 – First Contact with the Distortion

Nov 24, 2025

The deeper I walked into UFO Park, the harder it was to pretend nothing was wrong.

The air wasn’t just cold—it felt stretched.
Like someone had pulled the atmosphere thin and forgot to let it snap back.

Patch stopped walking.

The little cat’s tail puffed slightly, ears tilting toward the two grassy mounds ahead—the so-called yin-yang eyes. I used to think they were just a weird landscaping choice. But after the shadow delay incident in my bathroom, I wasn’t so sure anymore.

A faint shimmer passed between the mounds.

Not light.
Not heat.
Something else.

My vision lagged for a fraction of a second—long enough for a symbol to flash across the air, like a glitch frame from a corrupted video.

I blinked hard.

The symbol vanished.

Patch hissed softly.

“...You saw that too?”

The cat didn’t answer, of course. But it didn’t move either. Its eyes locked on the space between the mounds, muscles tense.

A low pressure pressed against my skull.

Not painful.
Not physical.
Just wrong.

Like the world was trying to exhale a thought it shouldn’t have.

I took one more step.

The ground beneath me rippled.
Barely.
But enough.

Something was inside the park.
Something that had been quiet until now.

And something that had finally noticed me.

Jeff returns to UFO Park, only to find the air warped, the ground trembling, and Patch reacting before he does.
A brief glitch flashes between the twin mounds—something that shouldn’t exist—marking his first real contact with the distortion hidden beneath the park.

Jeff, a 29-year-old engineer in Bratislava, survives an encounter with something people shouldn’t be able to see~~unfinished shadows that move with a time-delay, as if reality is buffering around him.

When more of these “Abyssals” appear, their behavior makes no sense—they aren’t hunting him.
They’re responding to him.

A stranger named Emilia, armed with clinical precision and technology that shouldn’t exist, confirms the part Jeff doesn’t want to admit:
ordinary people don’t attract Abyssals~~unless something inside them is changing.

As Jeff’s senses warp and symbols flicker at the edge of his vision, a truth emerges beneath the city:
the anomalies follow rules~~and Jeff might be the only one who can read them.

With a cat that seems to understand more than it should, a sealed park built like an occult containment ring, and an invisible pull drawing him toward the Abyss, Jeff is forced to choose:

ignore the shift in his body,
or step into the system that has already marked him.

Because monsters aren’t approaching him by accident.
They’re searching—for a Sourcebearer.
