Driving home she felt she lost it, lost it all. Adam is gone, their children are gone with him. Adam’s family would reach out from time to time but she felt too hollow, too lonely and depressed, unconnected to this world and pushed them away. She pushed away her family who was worried about her and even her friends who wanted nothing more but to help her. The only one who stayed was Ruby who was bullheaded and constantly tried taking her out talking to her, asking her day. She doesn’t deserve Ruby, she deserves a good friend, someone who can be happy and who can laugh unlike someone who lost it.
She got home seeing the mess feeling even more miserable. Each broken piece is like me. I'm broken and I don’t know how to fix anything anymore. She thought while drowning in her sorrows with whiskey.
I'm drowning in this ocean. I can't do this anymore. I fought so hard what Ruby said, rather I am just breathing not living, I'm a zombie, I am screaming yet no one can hear. I am submerged in these emotions. I can't do this anymore. I just can't. I am done. I'll be joining my family from heaven and I'll finally be free. I’ll light the candle. I'll enjoy it while I go.
This mess won’t matter, I won't be feeling so empty or lonely anymore. I won’t have to feel like I have to keep fighting a losing battle from this anguish. It’s too much to bear with this anymore. God will understand. He saw I tried for so long she thought trying to convince her that her choice was okay.
The sun went down and nightfall came from how long she debated should she stay? Should she finally give in after all who could blame her as she fought for so long and only felt worse and worse each day that came and went from minutes that felt like an hour to an hour that felt like a few to a day that felt like it should’ve been a few days. As she staggered toward the candle she lit it finally smelling what she missed for so long the beautiful scent of eucalyptus in the air wafting around, like her home she missed all of those years ago. After lighting the candle Selena felt a gush of cold wind past her startled she followed the wind where it led her to the kitchen. Upon arriving in the kitchen she saw him. Brown hair and his chocolate like eyes. The man with a crooked smile with slightly crooked teeth the smell of musk the same type he would wear all of the time it was him, he’s here, her highschool sweetheart and love of her life, her Adam.
