Tsibi: Search for Freedom

Escape (Part 2)

Escape (Part 2)

Nov 29, 2025

Without giving us a second to catch our breath, the man lunges at us. He swings the large battle axe he is holding in both hands down from above. But unlike many others who wield such heavy weapons with less experience, he does not make the mistake of swinging too wide and exposing himself. Since we don't want to go back into the cave, I jump to the right while my sister dodges to the other side to avoid his attack. Apparently, this is exactly what the adults wanted to achieve. Instantly, two of them jump on each of us, while magical projectiles snake between them and fly straight at us. But we already expected them to separate us and target us individually. I wrap myself in my flames and concentrate more fire in my hands, which I release explosively in all directions. The adults have no choice but to halt their charge to escape the inferno. Since I don't have to worry about their attacks, it's easy to throw myself to the ground to avoid the magical projectiles, which can no longer be controlled with precision without a clear view of me. As soon as they fly over me, I use the shock wave caused by their explosion on the rock wall behind me to catapult myself forward toward my opponents, but I remain on all fours. As expected, the godslayer's axe swings over my head. All the fire I had just controlled with my magic instantly vanishes. I don't have time to be surprised, as this shouldn't happen. But this is probably the Godslayer's ability. A power that allows him to disperse magical energy. Since the flames I have enveloped my body in are still burning, it seems to only work against magic that he has directly hit with his attack, or that is no longer directly connected to me. Whatever the case may be, it makes it more difficult for us to take him out quickly. However, we intend to take care of the others first anyway.

Even though the two who attacked me can see me again, they probably didn't expect me to have already closed the distance on them so much. Only two steps separate us now. In a fraction of a second, I bridge the distance, straighten up slightly, and aim my fire claws at the stomach of the woman who was just moments ago spouting her nonsensical words. She reacts in time and erects a magical shield in front of her while simultaneously striking at me with her sword. At the same time, the other adult stabs at me from the side. At the very last moment, I drop back towards the ground, because my goal from the start was only to distract her from my actual target. She has concentrated too much of her magic in front of her stomach. This makes it easy for me to cut through the little bit that protects her legs like butter and slice her lower leg in half.

I jump up and, now that she is unable to keep her balance, push her with my body toward the god-slayer, who is pursuing me at a frightening speed. He is probably focusing on me for the moment, as I am known for attacking more explosively and faster than my sister, who first takes time to get an overview of the situation. That's probably why he thinks her opponents can hold out against her a little longer than mine can against me. Whatever his thoughts may be, he now has to deal with the obstacle I've thrown in his way, even if only for a split second.

This brief moment is enough to ensure that none of the adults are in a position to stop me from reaching my next target. I drop back down onto my hands and feet and catapult myself forward, my gaze fixed on the adult who has been bombarding my sister and me with his magical projectiles the entire time. I dodge a few more of his attacks as I continue to approach at high speed. A second later, I envelop his entire body in blazing flames. As an experienced magician, he naturally manages to erect a shield around his entire body just in the nick of time. However, he doesn't consider that fire, even if it is kept alive by magic, can consume the oxygen in the air. A few moments pass before he notices the lack of oxygen in the air around him, and his attention wavers slightly. That's enough to weaken his shield, which I exploit without mercy. In the meantime, the god slayer has caught up, but a glance behind him tells me that my sister has already taken care of her two opponents, the adult I had ignored until now and the woman I wounded.

As befits a fighter of his caliber, the Godslayer is not deterred by the fact that he is now alone against my sister and me. He probably already knows that he doesn't stand a chance against us, but he will know that his only task is to buy as much time as possible for the reinforcements that are sure to arrive. But before he even has a chance to use his ability, my sister has encased him in ice from head to toe. Before he can free himself from his predicament, I pierce his heart with my fire claws, while countless spikes form in my sister's ice, following my example and piercing his entire body for good measure. After all, it wouldn't be the first time a god slayer survived without a heart.
