He stood then, sword drawn and ready, vine finally cut from his leg. As he stalked towards the first creature to ever earn his ire, he heard a whimper and turned to see her holding her hand out to him, desperate to keep him safe. He simply stared back into her tearful gaze, unable to convey the emotions he was feeling currently. He simply held her gaze and nodded as she fainted in exhaustion, her hand dropping back to the ground as he continued on his war path determined to eliminate this monster and then cure her before it was too late. Swinging his sword around he brazenly approached the wounded beast, dodging to the side as it jumped his way once more. This time he did manage to dodge its slow attack and drive his sword deep into its belly, pulling the blade down and splitting the wolf open as its momentum carried it forward.
This time, it did not get a chance to recover. Before it had even landed, he was swinging the blood soaked blade back towards its neck, slicing its head off in one quick strike. The body and head both fell to the ground with two loud thumps, the head rolling a small way and the ground quickly sizzling and turning brown as the poison killed the grass beneath the carcass. Making a mental note to dispose of the body and corrupted soil later so it didn’t accidently poison them again later, he returned back to his fallen partner and saw that she had not reawakened while he was taking care of the threat. She was still pale, but now covered in sweat from the fever shaking from the cold and twitching from the wounds on her back.
The status window earlier had said that she could survive if treatment was provided in the window allowed. With that determination in mind, he added a lot of logs to the fire, moved her as close as he safely could to the blaze, and then set off into the opening to the forest near the river. He had always had excellent night vision so it didn’t take him long to adjust to the darkness and start appraising every plant he saw. Window after window floated past, mostly inedible and unhelpful grasses, some that were poisonous, and others that had no qualities besides smelling nice or bad. Finally he saw vines that held giant leaves that looked very familiar and with a quick analysis he was able to confirm that these were the same she had brought him earlier. Grabbing several vines worth of the Healing Leaf Palm plant, he continued looking around for anything that would be useful.
Going a bit further he noticed an eerily glowing plant that was hard to miss in the inky darkness of the forest. With a quick appraisal he found that it might be just what he was looking for. The description was brief but insightful reading:
Object: Luminous Poison Bulb
Characteristics: A plant with thin stalks topped with small blooming flowers that glows only at night. Grows only on the remains of poison type creatures. Effects are most effective when the flower blooms before being used. Can be eaten or placed onto the affected area for treatment.
Rarity: Very Rare
This was it. This was exactly what he needed. He quickly grabbed a couple stems and left the rest to keep it fresh and with a quick swipe of his sword, he marked the tree above it for reference later. Looking down he noticed the lingering remains of some creature entangled in the roots. Thinking back to the slain creature in their campsite he briefly wondered if he could plant this in their camp for quick use but decided to think on it first. With the plants he needed in hand, he quickly returned to the campsite, wary about leaving her exposed to the unknown for long amounts of time.
