It felt beautiful, but at the cost of despair to the point of agony gnawing at his skin, creating wounds that were never there before. Her hair resting to hide her face, with her skin becoming paler and paler, the very thought of it drove him mad. His body began to gag before he lost all strength, his face hitting the floor like a thud before his vision blurred away, sending him into a deep slumber.
“Why didn't you come back?”
The voice was faintly hidden beneath the screams of a nation, but it was audible. As though blurred away, his only focus was on that trembling little voice. His body had no energy left in him, yet the desperateness he felt to break his neck to turn around, and see the face he was hoping to see. Every second felt weaker and weaker. As if his soul was being sucked out, the more he urged to move, the more it would feel heavier.
Seeing no response, a sigh was heard before sounds of footsteps walking away had become audible. The clacking of it all, along with the crowd blurred away the next line he had been desperate to hear. But he never heard it. His energy had dissipated, his wounds ripping away his heart.
Opening his eyes, the familiarity of the ceiling brought him ease. Denim ceiling, golden laced curtains all around. Sheets made of the finest silk, with his head resting on the fluffiest pillow. The light sneaked in through the little gaps of the curtains that hid away the sight of his eyes that rested beneath the flocks of his curl bangs.
“THE EYES OF THE GOD.”
They called it. No one had ever seen such a sight before. The eyes that would pierce through souls in a flash, the eyes that resembled the purest of gold, eyes that resembled the saint's divine robe. This was the public citizen’s opinion on the man who had returned from the war between the angels of horror for the first time. On the other side, many had considered him to be the child of the devil. This side pertained to the nobility mostly, who had been in fear of their positions ever since he had set foot in the capital.
