“Uhhh, let me pull over and check. But I think I used my spare about a year ago. Let me call you back in 5,” he replied and hung up. Tomás paced back and forth beside his truck anxiously waiting for Matt to call back. As quickly as the call ended, Tomás’ phone started to buzz.
“Hey man, I did use that last spare. Rob might have an extra one for you. He always keeps an extra two in his truck. I’m going to head back on the road, but I hope-
“Wait, before you hang up, do you think you could take a few of my packages? I need to make it to Nina’s Valentine’s dance tonight and this is putting me back at least an hour.”
“Yeah! No worries, Tommy. Just send me the address and I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
“That works! Thanks, Matt,” Tomás said smiling. If he could get a few stops off his hands, he might be able to make it to the dance at 6:30 sharp like he had planned. He quickly dialed Rob while silently praying he had a spare.
“Hey, Tomás! How are you?”
“Not good Rob. My tire is punctured. Do you have a spare one?”
“Funny enough, I have two on me. Just send me your address and I’ll be there as soon as I can.” A large grin appeared on Tomás’ face with the good news. Maybe his luck was turning around?
