“That’s great! Thank you!” As Tomás ended the call, he saw a blue truck with Matt’s goofy grin through the windshield. All those times of bailing him out had been worth it. He just HAD to be extremely efficient with his deliveries.
“Your savior has arrived!” Matt exclaimed as he jumped out of his seat and opened Tomás’ truck doors.
“Did Rob have a spare for you?” he asked while grabbing a few packages and tossing them into his truck.
“Yes, he did!”
“Man, that guy is always prepared. But I guess if you do this job for over 20 years you’ve seen it all. Well, safe travels man, I’m gonna head out. Good luck out there!” As Tomás thanked Matt and watched him drive away, a drop of rain hit his shoulder. Tomás looked up and saw black clouds gathering above. The rain wasn’t supposed to be here until late. A slow downpour descended as Tomás quickly jumped into his truck. He was going to be sopping wet changing the flat with Rob. And worse, sopping wet for the dance. In the distance, he saw a blue truck with its brights on. Rob had finally come to his rescue but at the worst time possible. Tomás climbed out reluctantly as the rain drenched his uniform.
“Finally made it. Now, let’s change this tire quicker than a NASCAR pit stop!” He hopped down, heaved the spare out the trunk, and placed it on the side of Tomás’ truck. He had never seen a man work so efficiently.
