“I don’t know if he will make it Alexandra and now it’s raining! And I also told Preston that we had come up with a special dance but that’s not true at all,” Nina sadly replied.
“He’ll come! If he doesn’t, you can always dance with me and my dad.” Nina smiled politely but she was trying to keep her hopes at a minimal level. She didn’t want to get upset again.
“Ok class, time to pass out Valentines!” Mrs. Reed announced to the class.
“It’ll work out! Come on, let’s go deliver Valentines!” The two friends scurried off with Nina holding onto a little bit of hope.
“Time for maximum efficiency,” he said out loud. And with that, he hit each stop without a moment to spare, taking a quick water break each hour. If he could just make it to the school by 6:15, he would be able to change and look semi-decent for the dance. But just as he made the last stop, a pickup truck slammed right into the back of a four-door, just a few cars up. He was blocks away from the elementary school. Tomás looked down at his watch. The time was 6:10.
