Interceptors

Battery

Battery

Dec 07, 2025

“We’ve discovered that the Agent is completely human.”

Dr. D’Silva said while showing DNA on the screen.

They could even identify who her relations were in time.

“There’s been heavy genetic modification, but the root is still there.”

Half the team, including Kiera, watched the monitors in I.T.’s clinical wing.

Splitz had been placed in the new jails after first aid and samples had been taken from her.

On another monitor, a young, green-skinned woman was interviewing her in a chair outside the jail door.

Kiera pressed a button, “Any progress with the girl, Serena?” She asked.

The green woman on the screen shook her head subtly.

Serena was an Immune with the ability to feel any creature’s emotions and could communicate with any animal. Her green skin was a result of her Immunity.

She had recently begun working at Interceptor Technologies as a psychologist.

The psychologist had been tasked to see if the Agent had any memory from before she became one, without success.

Kiera encouraged her to keep at it, once again muting their microphone.

Jake shook his head, disgusted. “They’re using actual humans against us.”

“I wonder why they don’t come fight us themselves?” Jamie wondered aloud. “We’ve never seen any Red come through the portals, except for in the ship over Kentucky.”

“What we do know is that humans can travel through the portal safely, not just Jawal or shapeshifters.” Kiera concluded.

“Since the portal isn’t rejecting humans, we need to find out why the Peacekeeping failed.”

New York and the rest of the United States went into an emergency lockdown.

Someone had detected a nuclear missile heading towards the Big Apple.

It had suddenly showed up on radar, appearing over Maine, and its trajectory was quickly calculated.

“Everybody get downstairs!” Kiera shouted, her staff rushing to get to the lowest levels of the building.

Kiera stared at the tablet in her hand, checking it for the fifth time in the last minute.

Her father had used his military contacts to share their scans of the weapon.

It was ten minutes from hitting the ground.

There may not be enough time for everyone to find a bunker.

Kiera watched as the missile finally made impact.

There was a moment of silence from everyone in the room.

They were in a secure bunker equipped with all the technology they needed to operate as usual.

They expected noise, the ground to shake, or computers to glitch.

Nothing happened.

Battery flew fast above the North American continent, like a bullet streaking past the blue sky.

Nearing her destination, she looked at the humans below.

Blue energy crackled on her skin.

The humans were armed, had tanks, and a flurry of activity went back and forth under the IMMUNITY TESTING CENTER sign.

The blue energy crackled again.

Her masters had assigned her to take out the building alongside another task, without comment on casualties.

She would execute her mission with complete success, no matter its nature.

Her fingertips tingled with unleashed power.

The humans below started to move quicker, fleeing the building.

They had a read on her.

The stored up energy was ready to blow.

She dove.

The center blew up.

The shockwave sent tanks skidding across the concrete, and any man not secured by a vehicle was thrown like a ragdoll.

Battery walked out of the burning rubble, blue energy sparking around her.

She used her suit’s bracelet to confirm the success of her mission.

Those tanks will become a distraction.

Then she dashed for the tanks, each landed punch accompanied by blue particles.

Once they were disabled, she launched, flying toward her next objective.

“Nothing’s changed!”

Someone stationed at a computer said.

Kiera ran over to look.

The employee explained that none of their sensors for radiation or broadcasts showed any signs of a nuclear detonation.

Kiera called her father.

“What happened?”

Her father replied in a shaken voice, “It wasn’t nuclear. It was an Agent, sent to take out the main testing center. It blew up—she blew it up.”

Kiera felt no satisfaction about the center being destroyed, even though the military got access to it instead of them, but she was glad they still had the original files from their infiltration mission.

“And then she headed south.” Paul continued.

“Do we know where she’s going?” Kiera asked.

She heard her father shout at someone in the background.

A few minutes later, he replied in a grave voice, “She’s headed for Interceptor Technologies’ headquarters.”
