Taru woke up in bed, he sat up and his hair was a mess, his piercings were off but his horn rings were still on… huh… and so were his clothes. Well that's good, one point to him. He winced as he got up, rubbing at his face and looking around. Okay… piercings were on his nightstand. Did he do that? He really doesn’t remember- nope nevermind he’s not gonna speculate that. He’s too nauseous to come to a conclusion of what happened. He stepped out of his room and stumbled towards the kitchen. Healing magic is great because 5/10 times he can avoid a hangover and he’s willing to gamble those odds when he has work the next day.
“Morning dude.” Jemm spoke.
Taru looked in the kitchen, Jemm was standing there cleaning up. “I made breakfast…”
Taru blinked… before he quickly stepped back. “WAIT WHO THE HELL ARE YOU??”
Jemm started laughing. “Check your phone.”
Taru quickly pulled his phone out, he had a message from… himself? Ah… so he did something smart…
“I told you to text yourself cause I figured you’d forget who I was again.” Jemm set something on the table.
Nevermind. He’s fucking stupid. Taru put his phone away and sighed. “So… I offered you a job… to be my assistant… and also to live with me?”

He spoke slowly.

Jemm nodded.

Taru sighed, despite the fact he doesn’t remember that he doesn’t doubt he would do something like that, that’s exactly why he doesn’t interact with people when he’s out… though… This guy doesn’t seem too bad. He looked him over.
“Alright… What can you do? What’s your strix?” he crossed his arms.
“Uh… Flute… I can also use wind though…” He blinked. “I’m great at cooking… and making music… taking care of people… organization I guess?”
“Good enough. Let me get you some better clothes.” He walked into his room. Jemm just sat at the table and waited, Taru returned, completely put together and ready and also holding a box. “Here you go… you can wear these. I didn’t have use for these and they didn’t fit.”
Jemm took the box and opened it. “Fit in which way… you’re kinda sho…” he stopped talking and they just stared at each other. Taru sat down. “Just go put them on.”
Well they fit just fine! Great! Jem pulled at his sleeves and collar, trying to fix the pieces. “This is… so many pieces dude…” He sighed. He sat down and pulled at the boots. “Do these have heels on them… man…”
“They aren’t big heels, though if they’re uncomfortable I can have them altered later.” Taru set his cup down.
“Nah nah it’s cool… that’s probably real expensive and I don’t wanna make you deal with that…” He waved his hands.
“Huh? No it’s fine really… I mean I was going to offer to get you some clothes anyways since you’ll need some for when we’re randomly pulled to gatherings as well as for when we have to go to the other provinces…” He stood.
“What… wait what- hold on what even is your job-” he stood and followed after him. Taru didn’t elaborate again, he’s not great at explaining. Besides, if he told him now the guy might leave, he can’t blame him. Taru hates his job too, and now he’s dragging this guy into it.

They walked all the way there in near silence. Taru pulled his ID out and swiped it, holding the door open. “We’ll have to get you an ID… or at least encode yours to fit this building…” he spoke as Jemm stepped in before following him.
As they passed the desk the three usual assholes began to call.
“Heeey Kiyomizu you’re here early for once!”
“Still kicking I see!”
“Wow you actually got an assistant, you drowning in those papers or something?” They all laughed.
Taru snapped his fingers and they got ready to shield from the wind but instead ice encased their desk.
[Papers… So he's some sort of office worker? Alright filing papers sounds… easy enough?] He stepped into the stairwell and began jumping up each railing. [Odd way to get up there… he was really good with his powers… wait why would he ask about his path strix if he was just gonna be doing paperwork?] Jemm quickly ran up the stairs to follow him. Taru stood at the top of the stairs waiting.
“Dude… you… are way… too fast…” He panted.
Taru opened the door for him. “Ah… sorry… I’m used to going in here alone…”
Taru quickly looked around before he began pushing him down the hall. “Woah hey what-” He pushed him into his office and shut the door. “Alright… this is my office…” He spoke quietly, turning the lights on. “The papers on the floor to the left are sorted and need to be bound. The ones on my desk are still being sorted… and the ones on the right aren’t done yet… you can start binding and I will bring the ones from the bookshelf out to make space.” He

began to pack them into boxes. Jemm sat down on one of the chairs. “Alright… then…”

[So he’s an office worker… odd he wanted to get in here so fast… maybe there’s someone he doesn’t like? Yeah that’s probably it…] Jemm simply continued binding the stacked papers and placing them on the bookshelf as Taru had told him while Taru came in and out to grab more books. [So many of them… they were all over random points of history too… honestly what office even keeps records like these…]
“Hey Taru what is it you exactly-” He turned at the sound of the door opening but it wasn’t Taru, it was Imani. She tilted her head slightly at Jemm, before folding her hands in front of herself, she stepped in. “Ah… the door was cracked so I figured it would be alright to step in… who might you be?”
Jemm put his hands up. “I’m not taking anything I swear!”
Imani began laughing. “Child, calm down. I know that. you mistook me for Aru which means he clearly invited you here.” She stopped at the desk and looked over the papers, humming. “So he finally took my advice… I'm happy.”

Jemm didn’t really know how to respond to that… for some reason she sounded… genuinely happy… that made him feel happy too…
Taru stepped in and immediately paused upon seeing them. “Ah… Miss Imani… Did you need something.”
“No no, I just wanted to check on what you were doing…” She placed her hand on his head as she walked by and left. He reached up to fix his hair before walking over to take another stack. Though before he could grab it the small bell above the door began to ring and flash. He paused. Crap crap crap shit shit fuck fuck fuck FUCK.
“So… is that a drill or somethin?” Jemm stood.
Taru covered his face, this shit is so ass.

Taru is... not one of the most popular elves. Upon the disappearance of the previous third seat he has been forced to take a job he doesn't enjoy, and most don't enjoy seeing him have it. He is a coward who doesn't enjoy any sort of contact with others. Though as fate would have it a chance meeting and a task from the second high elf would be the start to many strange series of events.
