Taru slammed his hands on the desk. “With respect Miss Msuya why are you shoving her off onto me when it's your job to watch- train her!” He pointed and waved his hand at Yoshi who just disinterestedly looked back down at her Manaslate.

Imani removed her hands from their heads, poorly hiding her smirk. She made her way behind her desk and sat down, crossing one leg over the other. “Well I’ve been swamped with work more these days. You see, between setting up the different appointments between us and the other two settlements and dealing with family matters, I don’t have the time to properly train her in the ways of her duty.” She picked up some papers and began to shuffle them."Besides you could use a bit more help yourself so think of it as extra hands and training for you both. Now we can discuss this more later. I have to finish sorting these. You two should go get to know each other.” Imani turned her attention to her desk.

Taru crossed his arms, looking over at Yoshi who finally stopped and gave him a glance back. She didn't seem to like him much either. “Fine… let’s go back to my office then and talk until we’re needed.” He grumbled, motioning her to follow. So the three entered his office, He pointed at a small sofa that was along the wall near the door. "You can sit there and not touch anything. Okay?"
"Sure… aren't you supposed to train me though?" Yoshi put her Manaslate away. "I'm not interested in whatever boring paper stuff you do. I wanna go out and fight, not just sit here."
Tarus eye twitched, he sat down at his desk. "Well we aren't doing that… besides that's not what either of our positions do so you'll just have to sit there until we're needed."

It was silent for a long while besides the sounds of papers shuffling and Jemm occasionally walking in and out. Taru let out a long sigh and sat back, looking over the papers on his desk before over at Yoshi. She was still on her manaslate playing a game like she has been the entire time. His eyelids drooped, honestly he could ask her for help and say its training but lying to make her carry out papers so he could talk shit about her would be mean. Just as Jemm walked back in the small alarm above the door began to go off again, though the sound wasn't as loud meaning it wasn't that big of a deal. Regardless Taru slammed his head on his desk and groaned. "Kill me…"
Yoshi on the other hand put her manaslate away and got up. "Finally!" She ran up to the window and looked out. "come on where's the massive beast? Like the one you killed yesterday? Why are you being such a wimp! Let's go kill these beasts!" She ran out and Jemm stepped aside so she could pass before he turned his attention to Taru.
"… So how should we do this… Should I like… pick you up or-" Jemm started but Taru stood. "No… No… let's just go."

This alarm was for the part of the city closest to the forest that bordered the Exile. According to the reports many low threat fractals were seen stamping around too close for comfort and so someone called it in for them to be dealt with before it got worse. An easy simple job.
From what Taru knows of the fourth elf, she's really… unique… in how she fights. So much so that she somehow deals with everything except the monster, everything being people properties. They arrived at the edge of the forest and Taru looked around.
"There aren't any signs of corruption here…" He stepped into the forest. "Nor do I see any beasts… Was this the wrong area?" He scratched his head.
"It could've been a false alarm. People mistake moonstriders all the time for fractals." Jemm shrugged.
Yoshi stood behind them watching them talk for a moment before she walked over and placed her hand on a tree and closed her eyes.

Yoshi Myi, the fourth seat of the high elves. She possesses an exceptionally strong plant strix. It allows her to not only control plants but also create and connect with them, it's a level most people only get with their strix after pouring countless years into their abilities rather than going on a journey of manifesting several. Though she's gotten there in a short five years.

Yoshi opened her eyes and turned to the two of them. "Hey, there's something a few paces from here. The trees stopped responding." She then took off running.
"The… trees?" Jemm looked down at Taru who simply began following her without explaining. Sure enough within a cluster of trees was a fractal, it wasn't a big one, but it was still draining mana from the trees.

In a swift motion Yoshi grabbed a branch and it slowly grew an wove into a hammer. She dashed forward and slammed it down on the monster. Roots shot into the ground from the hammer and she jumped back. It slowly began to crack before the fractal tore through it again and ran at them. She snatched another branch and made another hammer, hitting it over and over and over.

"So… I don't wanna sound mean… but can I ask…" Jemm began but Taru shrugged. "Yeah, she's doing basically no damage to it. Though she still uses so much force she can destroy buildings. It's quite fascinating honestly." He mumbled before he spoke up. "Myi, hit the gem on its head, that'll kill it far faster than just battering it around."
"I… didn't… ask!" She called back, though she still broke the handle of the hammer off when the fractal shattered it and regrew a longer weapon instead, instantly launching it towards the face and shattering the gem. The monster staggered back and as it began to ripple and glow Taru quickly raised his hands and created a walls of stone around it, which stopped the goo from its death exploding everywhere. He walked up to it and quickly began to shift the earth to contain all of it so it wasn't touching anything but his magic. "Alright, let's tell them where to clean up."

The three walked back in mostly silence, as they exited the forest ah, of course, there was a second one. It escaped their notice… probably cause it was heading for another being instead of just draining plants. Yoshi and Jemm both got ready to fight but Taru simply took the metal tag from his belt and flicked it with the wind. It slammed into the fractals forehead and shattered its gem. "Okay, now we're done." He continued on.

"You could've done that the whole time?" Yoshi squinted.
"Uh huh."
"And you don't cause?"
"I didn't wanna." He shrugged. "Listen I just found a real interesting scroll in the archives the last thing I want is to be out here dealing with fractals that take a single person. Hit the gem and it dies it's that simple."
Yoshi frowned.

"Hey I don't wanna spoil this… whatever terrible pep talk this is but like… I don't think that it was just those two." Jemm spoke. Taru looked over at him before following his finger. Ah… there was a really massive one. Okay well now he feels stupid for talking about how easy they are cause he hates these ones. Yoshi laughed and snapped a branch off a tree, changing it into a spear and running towards the fractal. "Fine if it's so easy then you just watch me take care of this one too!"

"So we gonna go too or should I-" Jemm started to reach out and Taru gave him a look. So he disappointingly turned and began following after Yoshi. Taru trailed after, crossing his arms and watching. Yoshi pulled herself up again and again. stabbing at the gem. It was cracking but not breaking. The fractal swung around and smacked her down.
Taru finally, and quickly, dashed forward. Jumping in the air and grabbing her before quickly using ice to break its leg before it could step on the two of them.
"Alright fine… that was my bad. I didn't properly explain anything cause I didn't think you needed it but I'm getting it now." He stood. "When you're killing a fractal yes aim for the gem, however the more you can destroy the body the weaker the gem becomes. Which is crucial for one as big as this." He raised his hands and spiky rocks grew towards the fractal, stabbing under it and pushing it up off the ground. "Smaller ones like that can be taken out easier cause they've absorbed less mana, these ones however need a bit more care before they can be killed."

He grabbed her by the back of her jacket and jumped back just before its regenerated hoof slammed down in front of them. Wind began to gather around him and he took several steps back before jumping up. Vines shot out from his hands and wrapped around the fractals antlers, which he used to pull himself in as the wind began to pick up more and more around him. Taru kicked through the gem and pushed back, landing on the ground. He kept the wind going around them all to keep the goo from getting on them. "Did any of that make sense?"
Yoshi sighed and her spear shrunk back to a normal stick. "Yeah…"

Taru began up the stairs first, leaving Jemm and Yoshi to actually walk up the stairs instead of jumping on the rails like he did. "Well it's nice to know only he does that." Jemm laughed. Yoshi just hummed, as they got to a platform she paused. "You… work under him… but you didn't do anything to help him… is it cause you couldn't?"
Jemm looked back at her before up the stairs. "Well. He told me he didn't need my help other than minor support. He wanted to handle it himself." He shrugged. "Though I admit I'm not exactly a fighter so… It's not like I was jumping to do anything unless things got bad."
"Why would he pick you then if you're useless…" Yoshi deadpanned.
"Ouch… you're mean…" Jemm made a pouty face before he began up the stairs again. "Well I was nice to him… I think… I hope that's not the full reason…"
"That's… pathetic…" Yoshi grumbled after him. Jemm stopped on the stairs again and looked back at her. "Personality wise yeah probably… but you still don't have many straws to judge him on… I mean he did have to save you and tell you how to defeat a fractal to begin with… Which how are you even a high elf if you don't know how to handle one?"
"That… is none of your business." She pushed past him and used her vines to pull herself up the railings. Okay well now he is going up the stairs alone… funnnnnnnnn-
By the time Jemm got there it was just Taru in his office, he was reading over some scroll with really intense focus. So Jemm simply stood by and waited for him to finish before he spoke up. "So where's Yoshi?"
Taru shrugged and placed the scroll on his bookshelf. "She came in here a moment, yelled at me about being pathetic and 'too trusting' and then she left again so she's probably complaining to Miss Imani." He placed some more bound scrolls on the ground before picking up more.
"And you aren't concerned? Isn't she above you or something?" Jemm leaned on his desk.
Taru looked up from his papers, before he leaned back. "No… we're all actually the same rank. Our seat numbers are just a fancy numbering for our districts and jobs. It might be true she's slightly stronger than me and Vywr than both of us, but our power doesn't have anything to do with it. If it did then they wouldn't take whoever was left in the family as the seat."
Jemm blinked. "So… then what do you all do? If your seats aren't for showing your power…"
Taru tapped his pen against his face, crossing one of his arms over his midsection. "Vywr deals with safety. He's the one who coordinates the scouts so we don't have to be out all the time for every small fractal and every petty criminal."
"Miss Imani deals with relations. She talks to the other groupings and sets up visitations and also for them to come here for the same reason. Kinda like a peacekeeper, making sure we're all still friends."
"My job is over the records, I make sure everything that has happened and is happening stays nice and organized, if a piece of historical information is missing i find it. If a major event happens then I record it and add it to the scrolls."
"That girls job is supposed to be over rites and rituals. She's to organize and watch over any rites that happen and record them so I can file it. She also would be responsible for organizing The Gathering and guiding each group through the forest to the special collection point. Though her jobs been falling to Imani or me since the seat was empty and then she didn't show up…"
"The final seat would be in control of trades and commerce, though again it's been empty since I got my seat so that's something Miss Imani requested to do herself." Taru sat up and laid his head on his desk. "It's not bad though… really… if we didn't have to fight I wouldn't mind this job…"
"Dude… y'all are just glorified exterminators-"Jemm began but Taru put his hand up. "Don't rub it in."
He sat up slightly. "Anyways it doesn't matter what she says about me, it was her fault for not clarifying she didn't know how to handle a fractal. I don't mind teaching her but if she isn't going to tell me things she'll just make it harder on herself."
"Maybe it's cause she feels weak." Jemm frowned.

Yoshi didn't come back, not until the next morning.
"I want you to teach me how to get stronger like you."
Taru looked up for a moment, before back down at his papers. She grit her teeth. "Hey! piercings! I'm talking to you!"
Taru looked up again, squinting. Why do people always point out his piercings… it's not even that man- no… lying to himself is wrong… eight probably is a lot…
"I can't just make you stronger, that's up to you. Besides your strix is plant and mine is wind. If I tried to teach you anything with the plant path you'd probably far outrank whatever I can do." He went back to writing.
"Oh come on! You used a button from your belt to kill one like nothing and then you quite literally used yourself to shatter its gem! I had to use all my force and a hammer to do that!" She groaned.
Taru looked away a moment before finally sighing and standing up. "Fine. Let's go. I need to figure out how strong you actually are before I can actually begin to tell you anything."
"Okay! where are we going?" She stood straight.

It was a place just a little into the forest. Intentionally cleared out and several trees stood scorched. As the two walked up in the middle already cutting down one of the training dummies was Vywr, he looked over at the two once they walked up and put his hand up.
"Morning."

Taru is... not one of the most popular elves. Upon the disappearance of the previous third seat he has been forced to take a job he doesn't enjoy, and most don't enjoy seeing him have it. He is a coward who doesn't enjoy any sort of contact with others. Though as fate would have it a chance meeting and a task from the second high elf would be the start to many strange series of events.
