I had another thought & a crack theory ... I'm slightly less able to see flaws than Shiloh is.
These two went thru a plane wreck with nothing worse than dirty but mostly untorn clothes, and a couple of gashes for Shiloh. But nobody else survived, even to get out of the wreck & die in the water. Also, I don't think Shiloh & Rowan's clothing looked wet.
I don't see how that could be.
So my monkey crack theory (and no, I didn't watch Lost, just heard about bits): Shiloh is dead. Rowan is a psychopomp, a guide for the dead. The Egyptian Book of the Dead refers to the "grateful dead". In contrast, Rowan has to guide the ungrateful spoiled violent clueless dead. Rowan ate babies or did something else horrible when he was alive & Shiloh is part of his punishment.
