Finally winter was over and spring was here! No more freezing days and snow covered fields. The only downside, allergies. I couldn't smell a single thing through my snout. Not a rabbit, a squirrel or even a single deer. How was i going to hunt in this condition? Hopefully I'll just stumble upon something while I run to my next temporary home.
About an hour or so later I finally broke through the woods. The scenery was beautiful. Mountains stood tall behind a giant crystal blue pond. Flowers were trying to bloom in the field surrounding everything. This is one of those few moments I like to hold on to. One I like to file away into my memory so that I never forget why its important to keep running. To never give into the loneliness and sadness. To fight for freedom I will hopefully gain some day.
I took my time wandering over to the pond with one thought in mind. Fish! I could really use some breakfast. After making it to the edge i looked down and saw them. They had to have been the biggest fish I had ever seen! I wasted no time and jumped into the frigid water snapping jaw down onto one. As I struggled to swim back to shore I could taste the nutrients. I wasted no time once I was on solid ground and ate the whole thing. Winter had not been kind to me this year. I ended up eating a lot of acorns which really don't taste that good by the way.
After having my fill of fish I could feel myself drifting off in the warm sunshine. I was weak and used a lot of energy swimming and jumping. Not to mention how heavy my fur got when it was wet. Soon sleep overtook me.
When I woke up it was to a loud growl coming from my left. I quickly jumped on all fours and lowered myself close to the ground. It was too late to hide so my best bet was to come off nonthreatening and then make a run for it. I couldn't see the wolf that found me but I knew the general area it was hiding in the weeds. I kept myself alert and ready to run.
It all failed when the other wolf did something unexpected and jumped on top of me from a rock behind me. How did they even get over there?
Sunny has been on the run for over eight years. Life wasn't easy for a measly 10-year-old surviving on her own. Living purely on her werewolf instincts she's survived on her own. Honing her hearing and smell in order to sense danger long before it strikes. She's only ever known loneliness. What happens when she runs into another wolf's territory? Will all her struggling be for naught or will she finally know what it is to live?
