It was like a waltz among flowers while falling over a sea of white and pearlescent stardust. My feet would never find purchase and I was left tumbling and yet floating at the same time. I wasn’t scared, but nor was I truly aware of what was happening. My mind was wrapped in the music of the petals and every note captivated any forethought I might have had of my circumstances. I was whisked away in the melody of flora and light with no solid ground to have an ounce of true consciousness. It was like a dream, but too tangible to not feel real. I still recall the light brushes of stardust against my skin. It was like snow made of velvet; cold and soft, but delicate and fleeting all the same.

I know I was happy. I can recall the elation bubbling up into giggles of excitement from my mouth. My moment of reverie and merriment lasted as long as my dance. Lulled by the song around me, I was pulled into a complete moment of peace. Everything seemed to still around me and then I opened my eyes.

The sky. It was like light illuminated through pure glass made of a delicate blue hue. The cracks in its gentle color was a broken spectrum of colors like a veil of stained glass. It was captivating and I found myself unable to draw my new perception away from it. I had just opened my eyes, but in this soft meadow, I’ve found myself not inclined to explore further just yet. The gentle breeze in the air brushed delicately against my cheeks. It was a nice cool touch to an otherwise warm and bright day. I could hear noise off in the distance but made no notion to explore. Instead I settled for making this green grass my bed until I saw something floating in the periphery. It was strange; watching a cute fluffy sheep floating through the sky. I expected birds not bleating.

Then I met eyes with him. His eyes were almost as bright as the sky, but held a kindness warmer than the very light that graced us overhead. His auburn hair reminded me of a contained lion’s mane or cascading gladiolus flowers. 

I could see these little sprites of wonder through the world; on the back of the sheep and in the home of Olivier. They were little playful creatures that seemed to have very little connection to this world. They guided me upstairs to a journal on the desk. By the handwriting, I could tell it was Olivier’s. He wrote about his ambitions to be a knight like his brother. That would explain his protectiveness of me.

Truthfully, I couldn’t say what I was doing here nor even why. The very thought of my name is faint on my mind; a passing idea with not the slightest recollection. As minute it was, as little I cared. I couldn’t quite place the inquisitiveness that surrounded my arrival - let alone the crown on my head. 

It wouldn’t come off.

Regardless of the might Olivier must have, it could not yield the mystery of the crown I wear. However, its resistance has only stirred a fervor in him. The spark in his eyes glowed even brighter at the very thought of adventure from the fields of Heather. I could see it in his eyes when he looked at me with such care.

His enthusiasm makes me smile.
