Dear Diary,
She was not there last night. I returned early, my heart heavier than I expected. Upon my return, I remembered all the work awaiting me for my birthday, and so I labored for hours into the night.
I am scarcely one third finished, and yet Mother demands completion within two days so preparations may truly begin. I feel as though this task will never end.
Tomorrow I shall work from dawn until dusk. Still, I pray I may see Lineya again.

Monday, January 30th
Dear Diary,
I have done it. All my duties are complete, and Mother has begun the final preparations. While she was occupied, I sent a letter to my dearest person and her family. It read thus:
Hello Lineya,
I hope you are well. If we might meet again, it would gladden me greatly. I shall arrive upon the hill where we once watched the sky at midnight. I would be overjoyed to see you there, my pet.
Until then,
-Pelta
I wonder how she will react. I cannot wait to see her again in all her beauty—ah—I mean that only in friendship, of course. For to admire one of the same gender in any other manner is forbidden.
Or so I am told.
