Lights were flashing and the music was playing loudly. Young topless women danced around as John walked further into the building. He kept his hood over his head trying to avoid attention. His goggles covered his eyes as he looked from left to right. He was surrounded by criminals: rapists, murderers, and thieves. Compared to most of the men in the club he was a pipsqueak. He stood around five foot ten while his build wasn’t muscular.

He moved through the crowd as a young woman brushed against him. She only wore a tight skirt and bra. Her long brown hair flowed elegantly down her back as she danced. John continued walking through the crowd passing thugs he recognized. On his right, a man named Billy Venters was being beaten on top of a poker table. Billy owed money which was all John managed to hear.

There was a pool table on the far side of the club and John could see a woman dominating the game. In another corner, people were smoking what John assumed to be marijuana. In the same area he could see people snorting lines of something on a table top. This club was a place where people could do drugs and sell them without much consequences.

“Where is this guy?”

John wondered as stopped near a table where a businessman named Raymond Jenkins. He was the CEO of a company known as Evolution Enterprises. John saw him sitting with a woman who wasn’t his wife. John sighed as he withdrew his camera from his backpack. He turned off the flash before taking a photo of the man. John planned to use the photo for blackmail if someone paid well enough. John continued on his venture into club Ecstasy as he searched for the reason he had come here.

Flashback

John climbed through a window of what appeared to be a mansion owned by someone extremely wealthy. John covered his afro with his hood as he went to the door of the room he was in. He took off his backpack before opening the door. He peered out into the hallway he looked around. He walked silently down the hall until he got near a doorway. He could hear people talking and laughing. He grunted as he stormed into the room to see a group of men sitting near a table. A man who looked to be at least forty years old was walking with a glass in his hand. The glass looked to be filled with liquor or beer.

“Hello X, what you got for me?” The older man said with a wicked grin on his face. John dug in his backpack to pull out an old a camera and a folder filled with files. He tossed them both on the table and slid it to one of the men sitting at the table.

“Blackmail on Jax Jones and a confession that gets him arrested. He may lose his company after this scandal.” John said as he folded his arms as he watched the men watch the video on the camera. He stood silently as he started to notice the looks on their faces. It became clear to them that they seemed displeased about something.

“I need someone that can get rid of people permanently kid. Kind of like my fellas here do for me.” The old man said as his companions stood up to reveal how tall they were. John grunted as he stared up at the men before cracking his knuckles.

Present

John stopped reminiscing on why he was at the club when he saw a large man standing near a door. He was tall and extremely bulky although appeared overweight. His long dreads hang low over his eyes and his large beard covers most of his face. John marched over and started to reach for the door when he was grabbed by the shoulder and shoved back.

“The exit is that way chump.” The man said as John rubbed his shoulder before glancing up at the man who towered over him.

“Don’t grab me like that again.” John said as the door slowly opened.

A woman stepped out of the room with a smile on her face. Her long black hair hung low over her dark brown eyes. Her skin was glistening with glitter causing the lights above to give them a strange effect.

“Mr. Knight has been waiting for you.” She said as she pushed the door open wide causing John to step forward. John brushed passed the guard as he stepped into the doorway to see an older British man. He had four women sitting with him. John saw one of the women pouring Mr. Knight a bottle of wine. The sight caused John to roll his eyes in annoyance behind his goggles. He took off his backpack and handed it to the woman who opened the door as she passed by him.

“You got Jax Jones arrested and Mr. Glen for me. Well done I must say. I got you a little something over there.”

Mr. Knight pointed causing John to look to his right to see a woman opening a chest. John glanced at Mr. Knight confused before walking over to the chest to see what was inside. He looked inside to see a large sum of cash, jewels, and some artifacts. As he stared emotionless at the items a loud scream startled him.

He looked back at Mr. Knight who appeared to be as confused as he was when more screams filled the room. John picked up the chest and started for the door. He pulled it open to see a massacre happening. Supernatural creatures were running ramped in the club attack civilians. John lunged forward to evade an attack from a strange-looking creature. He staggered to his feet as it ran at him with its claws raised. He bashed it over the head with the chest as he was thrown over a table by a demonic beast. The creature roared as it ran at him. With little time John picked up a chair and smashed against the beasts head. He stumbled back near a table as he saw a man being thrown into the wall. Near the bar, he saw a woman getting her stomach gorged out. John’s eyes were darting from left to right on high alert.

“I knew I should’ve never come back to this damn city.” He said as he ducked under a table hoping to find a way to the door without being torn to shreds.

A few minutes went by as sirens could be heard outside. A minute went by before a group of people stormed into the club. A man wearing goggles, a dark gray and green military uniform with black boots led the group. He had a high tech gun in his hand. He had light brown skin and curly brown hair. Beside him was a young woman wearing a black trench coat over a dark red shirt and dark gray jeans. She had on black boots and a black glove. She had long brown hair that covered most of her face. Her bronze   appeared to offset her hazel colored eyes. John noticed that she appeared to have telekinesis.

She waved her hand around forcing objects away from her. Creatures went crashing into tables as she used this power. Then s woman with light brown skin, blue hair and blue lips brought up the rear of the group. John wondered who they were as another person came into the building. He realized they must have been a group of superhumans as he rolled over to another table. The woman wearing the trench coat leaped over the bar and started pouring herself a drink. Her masked companion seemed to scowl her for drinking. John started to wonder if they were there to help or for fun.

“Kill the creatures and arrest the crooks.” The man in the dark gray and green uniform ordered.

John cursed when he saw the man begin teleporting around the club killing creatures. John dug in his pocket while getting up to run. He withdrew a small sphere and pressed a button before throwing it. He watched as a sonic pulse erupted from it sending creatures hurdling in all directions. John struck another creature with the chest in his hand as he started running. He leaped onto a table a flipped off it as a demon leaped at him. The creature missed by an inch as John landed on his feet. John picked up a broken pool stick when a creature appeared beside him. The creature was fairly large with an unusual layer of skin covering its body.

Its dead orange eyes bore into John’s. John heaved the stick at the creature piercing it in the eye. He lunged forward and punted the creature into another table. John breathed heavily as he looked around seeing the carnage getting worse. He bolted toward the door but somehow was stopped. This invisible force had him trapped in place.  He looked over to see the people staring at him and the woman in the trench coat holding up her hand.

“Shit…” John said as he dug in his pocket trying to find another one of his pulse grenades. He had no way out against someone who was telekinetic. Although, he noticed that she appeared drunk causing him to become relieved.

“You crooks are so predictable.” She said arrogantly, as John threw the sphere at her. A sonic pulse emitted from the sphere knocking them away from each other.

John went crashing out of the building and landed on the street. He sat up as he saw the task force surrounding the area. It was a cold night as snow was beginning to fall to the earth. A young woman with a gray combat uniform stood before him. Her stature had her standing about five foot seven. She had reddish-brown hair that was pulled back in a ponytail but a piece of it hung down her face. She had hazel eyes and soft light brown skin. She was attractive but there was a sign of fierceness coming from her presence.

Bright lights from the vehicles illuminated her figure. John grunted as he quickly got up and took off running down the street. She fired a gun that seemed to have bullets made of energy. One caught john in the side but he kept running. A task force soldier came at him but was knocked out by the chest in John’s hand. Another soldier came causing him to leap in the air and step on his face. John continued running as fast as he could down the street before turning down an alley.

He breathed heavily as he continued walking for a while until he got to a hotel called Shade-arc inn. He went down the alley on the right side of the building and went up the fire escape to get into his room. After managing to stumble inside he dropped the chest and pulled off his hoodie. As he took off the hoodie it revealed his bare skin which was covered in scars. His side was burned from the energy blast.

Around his neck was a necklace that had a broken piece of stone on it. The stone shard was black and a maroon color. John tore off his goggles and threw them beside a duffel bag. John groaned as he struggled to take off his combat boots. He sat on the bed and laid down as he closed his eyes.

this is an old manuscript that i wrote at the age of 16? i had no desire to ever let this see the light of day. Although, after taking a trip down memory lane I was reminded of how much i enjoyed the story despite it not being the best. So read this for fun an not as a example of my current skill. I feel i am a better writer than i was eleven years ago. enjoy!
