The rest of the day is pretty much uneventful. I zone out through full-school assembly, sit with my friends from elementary school at lunch, and get introduced to all the sixth grade instructors. When I head out, Dad is there to pick me up from school. We chat on the flight home, then we land on our front ledge and go through the front archway. I dump my schoolbag on the shelf and head out the back archway for a shower. Flicker and Blaze are probably reading their favorite scroll series in their room, so I'm unbothered, which is rare. I thought they might try to get revenge for the whole firebreathing thing this morning.
I step under the waterfall in the shallow part of our lake and let the steady flow of droplets wash away all my worries. My parents got me a new, longer brush, so I pour on some Herbali Natural Scale Shine, and brush it on to all my scales. I didn't always use scale shine, but it makes my scales look way healthier than scale wash alone.
Huh. Blaze's scale wash looks like it was recently used. But why would it be? Usually we take our showers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. I'm just taking one now because I like the warm early fall water. In winter our showers are always cold, and I absolutely HATE being cold. Even my siblings don't hate being cold as much as I do, and they are SO touchy about the water tempature. Maybe Blaze was taking advantage of the warm weather too. I don't really mind. He's not as bad as Flicker. His only problem is that he goes along with her every whim.
I'm probably overthinking it. It's not my job to make sure I know what my siblings are doing, anyway. I head over to the stone rack by the waterfall, grab my fur towel, and dry myself off. The difference between regular fur blankets and fur towels is that fur towels are more absorbent, while fur blankets keep you warmer. I head back inside, hoping to curl up on my bed and just read a scroll until dinnertime.
Scarlet of the Pyroflare family is just trying to navigate the ups and downs of becoming a teenage dragon, when she discovers that she's not just a regular fire dragon after all. Instead, she's an Emberwrym, the most powerful kind of fire dragon in the world-and the last of her kind. But will she manage to get through middle school with her powerful new abilities? Or will her raging flames get the better of her?
ANNOUNCEMENT: Publishing about 4 episodes a week is my limit, though I wish I could do more. Thanks for reading!
