When I woke up, I was lying in my bed, still wearing the clothes from the day before.
« What the fuck am I doing here…? »
My mind was clouded as I tried to remember what had happened.
After defeating the dungeon boss, I had felt my power increase.
At that moment, I had seen it — a floating mist, small, levitating in a corner of the cave. Motionless.
At first, I thought it was an enemy.
As fast as I could, I used my darkness to control the space and keep it from escaping.
But when my darkness touched the mist, its appearance changed. A human form emerged: a young woman, wearing adventurer’s clothes.
She had mid-length red hair, one side braided neatly, the rest slightly wavy.
Her deep green eyes stared at me — not with hostility, but with an expression I couldn’t read.
I slipped behind her and placed a blade of dark magic against her throat, threatening her to get answers.
But after that… my memory was blurry.
I think she said my name… maybe she cried…?
A spirit, she said…
Her voice… so familiar… where had I heard it before…?
Then suddenly, it felt as if all my energy was being drained the moment I touched her.
I was completely exhausted.
I must have collapsed right after.
Did she bring me back here?
I could still see it… that floating mist.
She was at the back of my bedroom.
I tried not to stare at her. I didn’t want her to realize that I had noticed her.
I needed answers. Who was she? And why was she here?
I had never been good at talking — people were always afraid of me.
And frankly, I had been fine with that.
But now, I needed information.
« If I confront her, she’ll run, right? » I thought.
I pulled myself together and got out of bed, as usual.
I furtively glanced at the mist. It began to move.
I immediately unleashed my dark magic, filling the room with shadows to prevent her from escaping.
“You won’t escape!” I said, as the young woman from yesterday appeared once again.
She turned toward me quickly.
She didn’t seem scared — it was more like deep anxiety.
She tried to move, her eyes fixed on her legs, as if she didn’t understand what was happening to her.
She had told me she was a spirit… so maybe she didn’t know what it meant to be trapped like this.
“Who are you?” I asked, my voice cold and harsh — surely frightening.
She didn’t answer.
“Did you lose your tongue?”
Calmly, she replied:
“I already told you… I’m a spirit.”
“And what are you doing here? What do you want from me? Did you bring me here?”
She remained silent for a moment, then said:
“I’m just here to… observe. And yes, I did bring you here. I couldn’t leave you there alone.”
As if someone would care about me anyway.
Did she think I was a joke?
Was she making fun of me?
Anger rose violently inside me, impossible to control.
“Are you fucking kidding me?! Tell me the truth! Now!!”
At that moment, Miyu, my personal maid, knocked and entered the room almost immediately.
“My lady, are you all right? I heard some voices and...”
She stopped instantly when she met my gaze.
Surprised, I lost focus and my power weakened.
The spirit immediately took advantage of it and escaped through the floor.
“Just a nightmare.” I said, standing alone in the center of the room.
No credibility. But as always, Miyu didn’t question it and calmly replied:
“Breakfast is ready, my lady.”
“Fine.”
I left my bedroom and went to the living room, still thinking about what had just happened.
