Barakhtozian Assault - A short memoir story

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Dec 27, 2025

There is a saying from my lecturer in another subject, that in my country, none of the children want to ask when given a question session. This is indeed true and proven, when the lesson ends and a question session is opened, no one dares to raise their hand. Funny, because previously the class was noisy because everyone was chatting while the lecturer was explaining, suddenly became quiet when told to speak.

My lecturer said that this is caused because children in Barakhtozia are never trained to ask or comment on what they learn since childhood. I have told you haven't I READER that when I ask about religion to my family, they answer with answers that are very unsatisfactory for me, and with responses that are not pleasant to hear either. So it makes sense if my lecturer says that, the answer is because children are never trained, and their families also do not want to answer with logical answers. And you know what their pretext is READER, yup! They label someone who asks a lot as 'sinful and disrespectful' because questioning things that on the surface indeed seem like that as it is.
Or you want something even more frightening, we will be labeled as 'future residents of hell' because opposing parents, which clearly is just expressing a question, which does not harm them at all, not at all.

Hell, heaven, reward, and sin, these concepts whether true or not I don't know because I no longer care, but these labels are what are often expressed by religious experts to answer the questions of those who are critical of religion. If living based on religion is only tempted with rewards that will make you enter heaven, or sins that can take you to hell, should I from the start not have religion at all, because I think these concepts restrain my freedom, and make me increasingly stupid because I cannot ask anyone, or about anything, because I will only be labeled as someone who opposes religion?

Oh god, if you still want to listen to me even a little, even though it seems your ear is half-closed because it is full of the voices of unjust people who bribe you with fleeting goodness of 'play victim' or their other valuable items. Please god, give me just a crumb of justice, the justice that you promise-promise in your religious teachings, the peace that you tempt from the results of my obedient worship that never skips. Will justice become unjust oh god if given to me, so that you give justice to those who are wicked and do not worship you or consider you exist at all, GOD! I AM HERE! Praying to you, but why is your face facing those who are gleaming peace from the results of indifference to religion and your rules!? There is a war happening out there that takes many innocent lives, and you are just watching!? What are you sitting there for? Laughing seeing the suffering of people who follow your religion? A test? Is this a test that you give to a servant and sheep who are kind-hearted and do not harm others? Your religion disappoints me oh god.

A fictional memoir based on a true story, following the internal struggle of a young man in the fictional Republic of Barakhtozia. He critically questions his religious upbringing, the fairness of God, and the stark contradiction between teachings of peace and the reality of societal hypocrisy and ongoing religious conflict. His sincere inquiries are met with silencing, threats of "sin," and labels of being a dissenter. The core message is not a rejection of faith, but a raw, honest plea to distinguish pure religious essence from its rigid, politicized misuse by people in power. It's a call for critical thinking, the courage to ask questions, and preventing religion from becoming a tool that breeds passive, fanatical generations. Ultimately, it's a story of disappointment born from a deep love and hope for religion to truly embody the justice and peace it promises.
