Book of sins

Prologue

Prologue

Jan 03, 2026

This world had seen many countries, various peoples, and their complicated fates. Yet the truth always hid somewhere deeper than a person was meant to know.

It was the same with Luxomoris, where every line of history had been skillfully adapted for modern minds.

Luxomoris was a land of the most excessive desires — and the path to them revealed all human vices and sins. The travelers here were diverse: there were those who 'suffered from mental disorders' and those who seemed to be completely healthy... Yet practically no one here was truly healthy. Oh! There were also those who desperately tried to seem normal. Desperately indeed.

Luxomoris was governed by laws created by people with the permission of other people. But there were also those whose permission was never asked, by default.
So here, as in any liberal country, uprisings flared up — not always recorded in the pages of history, yet always living on in the memory of details.

Nevertheless, Luxomoris remained a wealthy country — and that made it desirable. That is how capitalism operated. Some were fortunate to be born here, while others were unfortunate enough to die. But let us pass over that.

In this country, there was no paradise as described in the Bible. Here stretched megacities with tall buildings and beautiful gardens belonging to certain neighbors.

Luxomoris sold a dream. Not a green one, but a glossy one. Not a calm one, but a noisy one.

Like any country, Luxomoris had a face and its imperfections.

Adastra was the face of Luxomoris — its capital and the very embodiment of a dream. It was a vast metropolis with opportunities served up with a side of glamour and vanity. Here, every thing, every building, and every person demonstrated their power and irresistibility. Hiding here was impossible if you did not know how to play the game correctly. And, importantly, do it beautifully.

Perispera, however, was one of Luxomoris’ imperfections. A small village, hidden deep in the forest, where simple folk lived and built equally simple houses. But simple did not always mean good or normal, because it was in simplicity that secrets were hidden.

However, I will not speak of the country, its politics, or its law-abiding citizens. At least — not now. I would like to tell you about one person… just as simple and small as everything in this world. Just as insignificant, utterly unremarkable — and for that very reason, dangerous to the glittering ball of a glossy country. About a man who was removed… or perhaps they only thought he was? Hmm…

Someday we will return to this story, but for now I will go drink some bergamot tea and… oh yes, we will certainly meet again. Always between the lines — and perhaps, one day, directly within them. But that is not certain. Heh-heh-heh.

Ahem... The main thing — remember this: before you delve into the depths of this world, remember that the devil has always lived in the details.

Many talk about justice, but often it becomes an excuse for the lowest of deeds. Mark never understood the fight for what is "right." In the eyes of people, he saw only the reflection of their downfalls and si×s. But what troubled him the most was that they tried to pull him into this whirlpool, without asking for his desires. Thus began the chaos in his soul and his first coming. Mark did not renounce his fall — he acknowledged it. But where will his decision to become part of this chaos lead him? How far is he willing to go to protect his ideals? And is the game worth the candle when not only his life but also the lives of those closest to him are at stake?
