Maybe this marriage was a bad idea!
I woke up in a shock, memories of last night flocking back to mind. I asked Lee to take us out for drinks, got home drunk, almost made the biggest mistake of my adult life but nevertheless planted a kiss on Lee's cheek?!
Me: I'm screwed.
I turned to the side of the bed. Even more surprised to see myself in bed. On the bedside table, there was a note.
"I simply took off your shoes, nothing else happened." - Your husband.
I immediately flushed reading Lee's unexpected new self-given title. He was my husband. But nothing removes the fact that he's merely fake. Just for the mission.
Getting up, I removed my clothes, changing into some light home wear, fixed the bed, and made my way downstairs. I could smell breakfast was being made. Rubbing the sleep off my eyes, I heard Lee's voice greeting me from the kitchen.
Lee: Morning.
Me: Morning.
Heading to the kitchen, I met with shirtless Lee that I choked on my saliva, breaking into an unstoppable cough.
Lee: My, enjoying the view?
Me: (Coughing) Romano, (cough) Not funny. I was surprised.
Lee: It's just us.
Me: And what we have is not real.
Lee: Let's make it real for a short while then.
I shook my head, taking a seat at the kitchen counter stools.
Lee: Do you perhaps remember what you said last night?
Me: Vividly.
Lee: Any regrets?
Me: (Sighing) Of course not. That's the most honest I have been in word and action in forever... And you?
Lee: Why would I, when I chose you in the first place?
Me: Then you would have kissed me back if you didn't regret it.
Lee: Since you didn't feel it the first time-
Me: Wait, the first time?
Lee: When you fell asleep, I gave you one. I am never ashamed to give my wife a kiss, you know?
Me: Likewise.
Lee: So if I asked you to right now, would you do it?
Me: I could ask you the same question, since I didn't even feel it.
With a nod, Lee asked me to walk to him. Hesitant, I listened, and Lee pulled me into a kiss instead.
Me: That's not-
Lee: Part of the plan? I know, just wanted to reassure Liana Romano of my love. (Smirking) It's not bad, right?
While I, on the other hand is flushed, replaying what just happened on top of what nearly happened yesterday.
Me: Of course not.
But considering the deal Lee and I made,
Me: You're a great actor Romano.
I didn't want to lose. But then, Lee flipped the tables around.
Lee: Now, your turn.
As I was about to, there was a knock on the door.
Me: Does anyone else know of this place?
Lee: Ace but apart from that, Liam is nosy so he could probably know.
Walking to the door, we realized it was Liam.
Lee: This kid knows my whereabouts?
Opening the door, Liam folded his arms and looked at us.
Liam: Everyone had a meeting about your wedding. And they decided to postpone it.
Me: Oh? Why?
Turning to Lee, I saw a nod before he spoke.
Lee: Luckily for us, we are already married.
Lee showed him our marriage certificate. Liam looked at his uncle, slightly unfazed and mostly shocked. I guess he never expected him to go that far... Which I never saw in Lee.
Me: And you are right on time for breakfast.
Lee excusing himself to go to the kitchen again, Liam immediately got into interrogation.
Liam: Tell me, why did you marry my uncle?
Me: Ask your uncle that. He is the one who chose me.
Liam: You are lying.
Lee: Of course I did.
Me: Told you.
Lee giving me a peck on the cheek, he turned to me.
Lee: Here is your breakfast.
Me: Thanks.
Placing it on the table, I began to dig in. The waffles and honey melting in my mouth.
Me: So apart from being CEO, you can cook?
Lee: Of course. Why, enjoying?
Me: I have to give it to you, but yes I am. I might not even have to step in the kitchen.
Lee: (Smirking) The perks of being my wife, no?
Me: Hmm... Maybe.
Liam: So uncle, why did you come this far?
Me: I made him.
Liam turned to me.
Me: Yeah. Actually he took care of me - I was a bit irresponsible.
Lee: I would call it opening up.
Me: (To Liam) Who brought you here anyway?
Lee: Himself.
Me: Aren't your cars tracked or anything?
Lee: Probably. But it would only show coordinates.
Lee's phone then buzzed.
Lee's POV
Dad
Lee.
You. Liana. Back. Now.
