Diamond In The Rough

Chapter 14: The Uninvited Blanket

Chapter 14: The Uninvited Blanket

Feb 03, 2026

‘Ding dong.’

Jisung frowned, glancing at the clock. It was late, too late for visitors. He pushed back his chair and walked to the door, his movements slow and deliberate. Before he could even open it fully, Minsoo burst in, his face flushed with irritation.

“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?” Minsoo yelled, his voice echoing through the apartment.

Jisung didn’t flinch. He was used to Minsoo’s dramatic entrances. “I was busy with work,” he said, his tone calm but slightly exasperated. “You know I have work to do. And why are you here?”

Minsoo didn’t answer. Instead, he brushed past Jisung and made his way to the living room, plopping down on the couch with a dramatic sigh. Jisung followed, his sharp eyes catching the bottle of alcohol in Minsoo’s hand.

“Why did you bring alcohol?” Jisung asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

“To cheer you up, you workaholic,” Minsoo said, holding up the bottle with a grin. “You’ve been cooped up in here for days. You need a break.”

Jisung rolled his eyes but said nothing. He knew arguing with Minsoo was pointless. The man was as stubborn as he was unpredictable.

“Tsk… Come here, come,” Minsoo said, patting the spot next to him on the couch.

Jisung hesitated for a moment before sitting down. But before he could settle, Minsoo grabbed him by the waist and pulled him onto his lap. Jisung stiffened, his cheeks flushing as Minsoo wrapped his arms around him and began caressing his hair.

“My baby, my smart baby…” Minsoo cooed, his voice soft and teasing, as if he were talking to a child.

“Stop babying me,” Jisung said, rolling his eyes but making no move to pull away. Despite his protests, there was a part of him that found Minsoo’s antics oddly comforting.

“You need affection… my affection,” Minsoo said, his tone smug but affectionate.

Jisung sighed, leaning back slightly. “You smell of alpha,” he said, his nose wrinkling.

Minsoo froze for a moment, then chuckled. “How do you know that… hmm?” he teased, poking Jisung’s side.

Jisung didn’t respond. Every omega could recognize the scent of an alpha, and Minsoo knew that. It was a pointless question, designed only to rile him up.

“None of your business,” Minsoo said finally, his grin widening.

Jisung shook his head and stood up, walking over to the kitchen to grab a bowl of noodles. He returned to the couch, chopsticks in hand, and began eating. Minsoo watched him intently, his eyes narrowing as Jisung stuffed his cheeks with food.

“Don’t stuff your chubby cheeks with food like a quokka,” Minsoo scolded, his tone half-amused, half-exasperated.

Jisung swallowed, glaring at him. “This is the way I eat, and you know that.”

“I-I mean, people can have dirty imaginations if they see you eat this way,” Minsoo said, looking away as his cheeks turned slightly pink.

Jisung stared at him, dumbfounded. “Unbelievable,” he muttered, shaking his head.

Minsoo laughed, the sound warm and genuine. “You’re so easy to tease,” he said, leaning back on the couch. “Anyway, I’m going to wear my pajamas.”

“What do you mean, pajamas?” Jisung said flatly.

“I’m sleeping here tonight,” Minsoo declared, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Jisung paused. His chopsticks stopped halfway to his mouth. “No, you’re not. Go to your house.”

“No, I’m staying here with my baby,” Minsoo said, striking a hands-on-hips pose that made Jisung groan.

Jisung sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Whatever. Just don’t disturb me.”

“Don’t worry, you won’t even feel me,” Minsoo said with a wink.

Jisung looked at him, his expression deadpan. He knew that was far from true. Minsoo was anything but subtle.

“And yeah, I’m sleeping on your bed,” Minsoo added casually, as if it were a foregone conclusion.

“What? What about me?” Jisung asked, his voice rising slightly.

“You can sleep by my side… I’ll hug you,” Minsoo said, his smile widening.

Jisung looked at him with a disgusted face. “You know what? Fine. I’ll sleep here,” he said, gesturing to the couch.

Minsoo pouted, his bottom lip jutting out in an exaggerated display of disappointment. “But the bed is so much more comfortable! And I promise I won’t hog the blankets.”

“No,” Jisung said firmly, crossing his arms over his chest. “You’re not tricking me into sharing a bed with you.”

Minsoo sighed dramatically, flopping back onto the couch. “You’re so mean to me. After everything I do for you.”

Jisung rolled his eyes, but a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “You’re impossible.”

“And yet, here you are, putting up with me,” Minsoo said, leaning back with a satisfied smirk. “Face it, Jisung. You’d be lost without me.”

Jisung shook his head, “god.”

(◍◕ᴗ◕◍)

Jisung had been thinking about ‘that man’ a lot lately. Too much, if he was being honest. But who could blame him? He couldn’t help it.

The memory of their encounter lingered in his mind, familiar yet haunting. He could still feel the ghost of those hands on his skin, the warmth of whispered words against his ear, the way his body had come alive under a stranger’s touch. It had been exhilarating, intoxicating. And yet, it had ended before it truly began. That was the problem. That night had left him undone, a book with pages missing. And Jisung hated unfinished stories.

So he’d made a decision. A reckless one maybe, but necessary. He needed the man’s number. But there was no way he could just ask Suno for it. Suno would smirk, tease him for weeks, maybe even refuse outright. No, Jisung had to be smarter than that. He had to steal it.

For days, he watched Suno’s movements closely for a week. He noted every detail: when Suno went to the coffee machine, when he visited other colleagues’ offices, even when he spent nearly two hours on the phone. Jisung was patient, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

And finally, it comes.

“By day, I hunt the city’s deadliest ghost. By night, I crawl into his bed, spreading my legs wider for the very man I’m supposed to arrest. Yes... all he makes me want to do is submit to him.”

Lee Jisung is the precinct’s golden boy—a sharp, relentless detective obsessed with catching the 'Blood Diamond,' a criminal mastermind who leaves nothing behind but cold stones and blood. To earn his father’s frozen pride, Jisung has sworn to put the "ghost" behind bars.

But his sanctuary is a seductive trap.

His lover, Hyunsuk, is a gentle florist who smells of lilies. He is the man who brews Jisung’s tea, heals his exhaustion, and whispers that the world is too cruel for a delicate Omega.

The Truth is a Poison He Drinks Every Night.

The tea isn't for comfort it’s a cocktail of submission. While Jisung sleeps, drugged and pliant, Hyunsuk is scrubbing blood off his hands and planning his next heist. By the time the sun rises, the "Blood Diamond" is back in bed, claiming Jisung’s body until the detective forgets his name, his badge, and his mission.

As Hyunsuk begins a psychological game to dismantle Jisung’s life (framing his only friend and stripping away his instincts) Jisung is left spiraling. Is he a hunter, or is he just a predator’s favorite, broken toy?

In this game of shadows, the handcuffs are on the nightstand, and the detective is the one begging for the leash.
