Protectorate HQ, Simulation Room
Brookh looked at the log in real time, there were a lot more errors popping in, it seemed to be whenever Aradi was displaying attributes related to her kind. As a citizen who's origin was of a Kien, his 4 arms and multitasking abilities enabled him to work at faster speeds than someone with 2. He took a sigh as he looked at the code,
What the hell. I read the data on the reaction virts take when she's in them, but to see it in real time is...annoying...
The citizen began typing on the computer, he imitated a call to the IT Department, another tech head appeared on screen,
"yo what's up" he said. Brookh sighed,
"It's Brookh, I got an Ancient hooked in, the servers are starting to get overloaded"
"The Elf? Yea we got tasked last year with building a unique pod for her, we'll route the power from there to you, should've requested it sooner. She's one of hell of a powerhouse" the citizen said,
"Her neural activity fluctuates too aggressively for the system, it can't keep up. I read the sheet, immunity off the charts unless it's constantly stacked with a strong cocktail, and the virt pod is barely holding as it is"
"Don't know why she transferred"
"Beats me, virts were easy up until now....alright got the auth for power trans, validating......ok we're good, but yea, no denying that it's a rare experience to see a living Ancient as much as I have" Brookh stated, a genuine comment on how thankful he was,
"How is she in person?" He asked,
"Total bitch, at least more to the recruit, definitely looking down on you if you aren't trying to do your very best every minute of your life, don't recommend" Brookh said,
"Sounds like a handful, well, good luck, if you need anything let us know" the citizen said,
"I need to forward the log to you guys for patching, I'll send it after we're done here" Brookh said, the tech head groaned,
"I hope she gets fired, if you need anything else let us know" he added.
Protectorate HQ, Simulation
"My group gets safe passage to the Outer Territories in a free ship...no Protectorate"
Sidko's brow twitched,
"Listen, I uh, I don't think I can do that be-"
"If you can't then the hostage dies!"
"Ok um, let me see, I'll uh. I'll call you back" Sidko said as he quickly hung up. Aradi stood knelt over the entry point, she was eating chips, Sidko suddenly patched in,
"Lieutenant? Come in, over?" his voice sounded like bread crumbs on a plate,
"How were negotiations?" she asked as she took a bite of her chips,
"I told them I'd call them back, over" he said, she sighed, Aradi's eyes became as death would stare into the void of souls it had reaped, her voice a terrifying pierce of a spear flowing through the wind.
"Idiot. Just lie to them, tell them what they want is on it's way, go into detail, offer a pizza, maybe a drink....organic fizz drink.....maybe some real meat....oh yea...everyone loves real meat, a real meaty pizza...maybe a meat slushy from Lucky Servant..."
Sidko's brow twitched a bit,
Is she....talking what she wants?
The Recruit picked up the phone and called to resume negotiations,
"So you accept our offer!?"
Sidko cleared his breath, he did his best impression of Aradi in order to give himself confidence,
"I'm on the phone with my superior, you're good to go, we'll get you some food too an -"
A short silence was broken by the criminal laughing on the other line,
"I'm tired of your condescending tone, I'm not some kid! I'm here to send a message to the Council! You got 10 minutes to deliver the goods!"- they clicked on the Recruit. Sidko squeezed the phone, he dropped it on the table almost in a rage, he contacted his superior,
"Lieutenant, I couldn't get a word in"
Aradi nodded with a slight smirk,
"Negotiations are usually a 90 percent failure in the virts, how much time did they give?"
"10 minutes"
"We'll knock it in 3" she said. The Elf put her bag of chips away in her front pocket,
"I'll take the top, you'll take the bottom, on my signal " she said, Sidko nodded,
"Yes, sey" he said.
