"You get the pet, and you console the Citizen"

Sidko and Zzarr nodded in unison,
"Yes Lieutenant"

They both hurried. Zzarr approached the Citizen, she took out her Protectorate Device,
"Excuse me, Citizen, you called about your pet being in the tree?"
Aradi watched them both, it was her second time being a shadow, the first time was 73 years ago, one of them eventually ended up in the Non-Citizen district.

Sidko approached the tree and looked up, a voice then spoke to him,
"It's been up there for hours"
He turned, recognizing who the voice belonged too,
"Rico. What are you doing out here?"

The small Citizen yawned,
"I'm watching my lottery tickets run around the playground"
Sidko blinked once,
"You got, kids? Since when?" he asked as he turned and looked at the 2 clay citizens running and laughing,
"They just came out of the pods last week, the little bastards haven't stopped running around since. I'm thinking about trading them in for a chance to up my class, but the credit discounts keep me from doing it, for now"

Sidko nodded,
"They look like they're on 5 years of life"
"Can't wait til they're 10 so I can take them to the virts"
The Protectorate then looked up to the tree,
"Can't be worse than what I'm doing"

Aradi physically cringed at their behavior, casual, friendly, the time to interact like that with Citizens is after the case is processed, not during.

Meanwhile, Zzarr spoke to the older Citizen in a soft, understanding tone,
"Ok. Miss Hagsack, I understand, but I see here that your license for a pet expired a few minutes ago, I can ex-"

Suddenly Aradi was in front of Zzarr, she grabbed the old lady and slammed her to the ground, her knee deep in the back while the Citizen's arms were restrained, she looked up at Zzarr,
"This is a D-Class Citizen, Zzarr, not a C, not a B. This is a Citizen waiting to take advantage of the Council, and you would've done it if it weren't for me" she said with a hostility in her voice, her hand then grabbed the grayed hair of the Citizen and pulled so Zzarr could see their face, Aradi stared at Zzarr with an intensity that reflected the servitude she held for the Council,
"This is the face of an abuser of the Council, a glitch, a bug"
The head of the Citizen was thrown down to the pavement. The Elf got up, she spoke
"Bag, tag, call in a transport. Don't give anyone leeway. If you do, they walk all over you like you're some left over gunk on the street"

Zzarr nodded as the Elf turned to Sidko,
"And you" she said, Sidko straightened his posture, she grabbed Sidko by his collar,
"Stop slacking off"
Sidko felt her other grip on the lower part of his vest, suddenly he was weightless for a moment and found himself wrapped around the trunk of the tree. The tree didn't go high, but it was impressive that she was able to throw a fully grown, average Citizen. Everyone looked at her with bug eyes and dropped mouths. Sidko hugged the tree for dear life as he turned and shouted back,
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT FREAK STRENGTH, ARE YOU FROM QWENDA OR SOMETHING?"

Aradi gave him a stink eye, he quickly shuddered and quickly apologized,
"I'm sorry ma'am I was just taken back by your amazing feat that's all I promise"
The Elf then looked down to Rico,
"Morning Rico, I hope your day is going well"
Rico nodded,
"Can't be worse than what you're doing"
Aradi looked to the 2 youngins running around the playground, ignoring all the commotion,
"Are you sure? You're the one with.....young citizens around" she said with a held back disgust,

Rico smirked
"You're sure you don't got that going on right now?"
Aradi cringed,
"Don't, don't do that to me Rico. I can't fathom having to look over these 2 more than I already have too, let alone if they were like the roaches you got running around"
Ricko nodded,
"It's a lot worse than I thought it'd be"

She smirked and turned to look up at Sidko, who was inches away from the pet, he was on a branch, he looked at the animal. It held 3 oculars that looked right him with a fury, its hind legs were bent inwards,
The rookie tried to calm it down,
"That's a good...a good....what in the stars are you anyway"

A transport slowly descended in the middle of the street, halting traffic, many cars came to an irritating stop, but few drivers expressed it out loud. The synthetic trees and foliage were brushed by the thrusters touching down, as well as Aradi and people in the vicinity. A deck officer exited and approached Zzarr, Zzarr's voice could not be heard over the engine of the ship, she pointed over to Aradi, who held the animal by the fur atop it's neck, and Sidko who stood next to her, scratched and abused by the furball.

The senior Citizen was cuffed and taken aboard while her pet was caged and would be sent off to the furnaces within the hours if another Citizen chose not to adopt. The 3 watched the transport lift up and head towards a processing center. Aradi then turned around,
"That was a F in my books but probably a C minus in standard performance. good thing we have a few days to try and improve"

Barracks

Sidko walked in to his temporary home, waving to his Fa, tired, exhausted, taken out of the frying pan and thrown into the fire, a small dose of definitions to scratch the surface of how he felt. He immediately
Crashed out on his bed, Zzzarr laid down across from him,
"Bro I'm so hungry, I can't even lift my legs to get food"
Sidko nodded,
"Bro I am....I am hungry too"
"You can't even speak"
"Sssssoohh truuu"

For the next few days, Aradi would shadow them, giving tips, commands, fixing the way they wrote reports.

Aradi drove the van, per usual of the past few days. Sidko and Zzarr sat in the backseat, tired, but ironically ecstatic about the ending minutes, which would introduce them to their new found hobby: break time during work hours. Aradi looked in the rear view mirror as she drove. The two were nearly passed out. As the van came to a stopping light, she popped open a compartment and grabbed 2 snack bars, she then tossed them back.
"Eat these, they'll give you a nice boost"
Sidko's hand lazily hit the seat and grabbed the candy bar,
"Woah. Nitro-bars? I thought these were only given to B-Class as medical grade for Aperions"
"Or to those who can afford them in the Class A shopping districts"
Zzarr's eyes widened,
"If I may ask Lieutenant, just how much cred do you have?"
Aradi's eyes shifted up in thought,
"I dunno, I don't really check anymore"
The two looked at each other with jet lagged expressions, then took a bite. The taste never sought, nor thought of, filled their mouths more than pleasantly, the creamy center spilled out of the chocolate housing. Zzarr felt a rush of energy erupting inside her, she turned to Sidko,
"This is so good" she said, he nodded in agreement.
"Break time is in 5 minutes. You two have anything in mind?"
Zzarr turned,
"Thank you Lieutenant, I think, uh, a nice place to eat, but I don't got any ideas right now, Sidko?"
Sidko shrugged,
"I guess it's BugSubs then"

As she looked forward, something caught her eye, the car in front of her had two passengers that were seemingly arguing. The passenger door suddenly opened, a raging Citizen emerged, dressed scantly. Aradi quickly opened the door with Sidko and Zzarr behind her. The driver suddenly exited,
"Bitch get yo ass back in the cruiser"
"Hell nah I know you were with that bitch, why she texting you"
"I'm asking her for tips on how to love your dumb ass better"
"Why you asking her of all people"
"Because she's your sister!"
"That don" -
"HEY cut the lover spat and get back in the Cruiser! " Aradi shouted. The lovers looked at Aradi in confusion, and in awe,
"Oh shit you one of them Endangered mofos, I'm sorry officer, I'm -"
"Oh you listen to the Protectorate no questions all the time, but when it comes to-"
"I told you to shut yo ass up and get back in the cruiser"

Aradi's eyes darted back and forth, she then turned her head back,
"Ok. Sidko, taser. Zzarr call it in"
Sidko took out his taser,
"You gonna ask them out next or what?" the passenger asked. The driver was then tased, he looked at the passenger and pointed at her,
"I ain't never gonna stop loving you, bitch"

He then fell on the ground, shaking, the passenger teared up, she was then tased, and immediately dropped. Sidko looked at the perp,
Wow that was ....
His train of thought was interrupted by a sniffle, from Aradi, of all people. She held a fist up near her chest,
That's what real love is, she thought to herself.
