Aradi found herself in a world of silver and white that stretched down a ways with walls keeping her in the center. She turned to see that it was the same on the other side; an endless road, but it wasn't a road at all. A hallway of sorts, walls were not of steel, but what seemed to be natural wood crafted by artisans, a sight not known to her. Windows resting up high gave an illumination around her. She had not noticed until now, but her clothing was different. A soft shade of white hid her all but the shape of her body from the world, blackened ornaments spiraled themselves around her arm, and though all this was foreign entirely, she did not falter to curiosity or self-realization. She knew not what guided her will to walk forward, but it's what she did. Her eyes squinted as what looked like the end of the mysterious hallway came too. A black door, archaic in nature. It seemed to stay just out of reach the more she tried to get to it on the beckoning color, but something now approached her. Her eyes looked down to see a thick red liquid slowly crawling out from under the door, it was blood, and it moved on its own, towards her. Aradi's lungs began to hasten their hunger for air, her body stiffened, movement was not her ally. The blood suddenly caught fire during its approach, the flames reflected in her pupils. She felt her body starting to listen to her commands as it began backing away from the door. The end of the hallway then slung itself away from her, blood and wind followed it, rushing from behind her. Goosebumps dressed itself over her entire being. Suddenly, a distant quickening thump could be heard echoing down the hall from behind her. Each thump was like a loudening wave of a coming terror emanating from a source in darkness her eyes could not pierce. Then a flicker in the darkness, an orange and red like hue, it grew alongside the thumping. Her voice could not give her the scream she wanted to let out.
A woman of fire ran towards her. Her entire body scorched in a never ending flame, ashes and singes trailed behind it. Aradi slowly shook her head before turning herself around, she picked up a running pace and darted down the hall towards the black door. The thumping sound was becoming unbearably loud, and closer. She felt her back beginning to warm from the intensity of the flames. Her goal was in reach, the black door. Before she could reach for it, she felt the fiery hug of death engulf her from behind, she fell to the floor. The black door stood motionless. Her body couldn't move. Her body was hot, ending, being consumed, the flames buried her with embrace.
Aradi's eyes popped open, she took a slight gasp for air, she blinked several times before realizing she was staring at the ceiling of her apartment, she slowly brought herself up and rubbed her eye with the sweating palm of her hand.
Aradi's home
Weather: steady winds
Aradi sat on a chair that was situated at the balcony of her apartment overlooking the city life passing by. Day or night, countless stars could be seen in the distance of space and its vastness. In the distance, a large commercial transport ship was heading off to another planet. The giant thrusters gave the sky a deep muffled sound that covered the city as it ascended into the stars. She stared at it exclusively, remembering that she barely leaves the planet for vacations anymore. Maybe that ought to change, maybe a transfer to another planet might do her good. The Elf sighed and groaned,
"Ughhh"
I can't go to another planet yet. Maybe once this psycho is processed.....then I can think about that..
She started browsing the Social app out of pure boredom and restlessness. After looking at a few cute pet photos, she checked her messages. An important text from the E.C.R:
"To Aradi:
We are pleased to inform you that the artifact will arrive Monday. Thank you for your attention"
Her fingers navigated the touch screen, bringing up a web browser, she began tapping on the keyboard:
"Who are the Elves"
She hit search. Not anything she hasn't done before, and doubts she'll find anything new are still as high as ever. The only reason she even knew she was an Elf was because of documented ancient scriptures written on walls in caves found on many of the planets in the Galaxy and very archaic tech such as books and quite possibly the very first smart devices on various planets. Before all that she thought herself to be an off-shoot of humans.it was quite clear that her kind was somehow able to travel to different planets without the means of ships, which has struck the scientific community beyond even the creation of the Council. After a few web pages she set her phone down, it just wasn't worth the time. Her eyes navigated to the stars once more.
The Council is more than enough to call home, it is....it is...
The next day
Public Archives
Aradi stood behind velvet white ropes that were held by stainless steel stanchion posts, the stanchion posts were about 15 or 20 or so feet apart, what lay beyond were supposed depictions of Elven beings liberated from the deep cave systems of Gantun. She smirked as she remembered an Opan citizen approaching her and asking her if she'd like to know more about the mysterious and extinct Elven beings. She made no mention of the fact that she was likely indeed the last remaining Elf in existence, of course, Aradi nodded.
"The artisans who had drawn these images used the physical material known as paint, strange to use that word in an archaic sense, they would pour some over their fingers and began drawing with them. Strange, what do you think causes people to worship so callously without question?"
Aradi shrugged,
"I don't put much stock into questions like that. The Council provides, that's all I need to know"
The Archivist smiled and agreed. The Opan looked at the displays, she looked down and pointed at a couple of incomplete miniatures.
"These figures here were found outside on a hilltop on planet Frayath. In the dark days before the Council. It was noted that these individuals not only worshipped but sacrificed every first born, so we recreated what we could, we have them for sale at the front desk if you're interested" the Opan said,
Aradi smirked,
"Sure, why not" she said.
Aradi sat down on a bench in front of the Elven display, she stared at the statue replica in the hard plastic container, the case depicted the replica more like an action figure than anything else. The metallic miniature was a supposed Elf, holding a sword at its hip, the wear was quite strange, fantasy like armor was adorned, but the design seemed more for show than for protection, it was quite appealing in its aesthetics while holding a presence of authority without trying too. Could this really be how their warriors looked? The figure's face was sleek, chiseled, the replica captured the original depiction to perfection.
A Citizen cashier was surprised by the sudden sound of an object hitting the desk he sat in front of. Looking up, he saw an Elf making a rather disappointed expression.
"Uhh- "
"I want to return this replica" she said. The Cashier looked at it,
"Something....the matter?"
A well known and lasting policy in the Council for products, is that all returns must have a reason for being returned back to the merchant. Aradi nodded,
"I don't like the way it looks, something off about it"
