“Wait a moment! I never agreed to do that!”
My voice was a mix of shock and a hint of fear. I hadn’t asked for any of this—let alone to rule a nation. The voice replied calmly, maintaining a neutral tone that made it feel as though everything was part of an unavoidable plan.
“I know. However, there isn’t much to discuss, nor can you refuse. You were the one who entered the Shogun’s body without my consent in the first place. So, from my perspective, the least you can do is continue with the responsibilities she once had.”
I immediately shut my mouth, falling silent before letting out a sigh. She’s right… Even if it wasn’t intentional, I’m the one who somehow ended up in this body. But how did that even happen?
“B-But I have no idea how to govern! Much less about finances—I barely know basic mathematical operations!”
Panic took hold of me. How was I supposed to handle something so complicated?
I heard the voice let out a long, heavy sigh, as if dealing with a stubborn child.
“I think I’m starting to understand how the Traveler feels with Paimon.”
I heard the voice murmur. Curiosity stirred within me—Traveler? Paimon? What’s a Paimon? Is it edible? Still, I knew this wasn’t the moment to speak, so I stayed quiet while the voice continued.
“I see. That is certainly a problem… but not one without a solution.”
I paused, tilting my head in confusion.
“What do you mean, miss?”
I asked as I looked at my reflection again, trying to make sense of the situation while narrowing my eyes.
The voice remained silent for a few seconds that felt eternal before speaking again.
“You see, whether you like it or not, you are now in the Shogun’s body, and we cannot neglect my nation. So, what I propose is that I guide you for a while… at least until you learn how to manage things.”
I nodded slowly, thinking about what she had just said.
“Like a teacher?”
I asked cautiously. I had never had a teacher or tutor due to my condition, so this was new to me.
“Precisely. Do you have any objections?”
Her tone was calm, almost indifferent. Yet I could sense an underlying firmness, as if this were the only viable option.
I thought for a moment. Truthfully, I had no reason to complain. Now I could walk, move… This situation, though unexpected, gave me a unique opportunity—even if it hadn’t been intentional.
“No, miss. None.”
I replied, feeling a bit calmer as I accepted this new reality.
“Very well. Then let us begin. First, you will need to bathe and dress properly. The bathroom is to the right.”
The voice—or Raiden Ei? How was I supposed to address her?
“All right, but… miss, how should I refer to you?”
I asked, since it seemed we would be spending quite a lot of time together.
“Hm… well, considering this will take a while and we’ll be in constant contact… you may simply call me Ei. It will be quicker.”
She replied with a tone that hinted at a small touch of informality.
I nodded before taking the towel that rested on a nearby chair and heading toward the bathroom. My mind was still processing everything that had happened, but at least I had a purpose—a guide. And for now, that was enough.
