Lucky Accident

Lucky Accident

Jan 14, 2026

In the dark smoked filled room, you see a wide tooth filled grin. A shot of whisky to sip on as you hear a story of greed and secrets, but most important of all… A happy accident.

In a wealthy neighborhood, there once lived a bitter elderly woman named Ms. Pam Ironthorn. She was as bitter as a spoiled lemon on a good day and smelled of cigars and iron. Ever since her late husband Mr. Ironthorn left her his Metal plant and the huge house with her collection of fancy cars, she never was keen on offering some to her son, John Ironthorn the second. We will just call this spoiled brat of a man John. Like mother to son, both wanted more from the Ironthorns' will. And John was not a very patient man, and had a hunch his elderly mother would live not long, but too long for his taste and his plans to sell off his fathers work to his college friend. It was a sad and honestly a poor choice in the long term, but that's the funny thing about greed. It would sell everything that made it what it is for coins instead of waiting for cash. Anyways one dark and cold December night John was drinking a bottle of white wine in his study. He was drunk with rage this day since his mother once again laughed at his idea to change the business to other hands. She said with a smoke filled air of pity not out of love, but out of malice “Your father didn’t give you nothing cause you would have sold it to a fool just like yourself. Maybe if you actually listened to your mother, you would be half the man he was.” Those words stabbed him like knives to his pride, is it because she has zero belief in his ideas, the fact that he didn’t want to just work with steel and copper to make cars and stoves. Or could it be that deep down she was right… Either way that night he called a man who knew a thing or two to squeeze the last smoked filled breath out of the old bat. The next day John left his mother with a few servants to “Visit a college friend”. Which wasn’t a full lie, but behind it, was to build an alibi when she wasn’t living anymore. Not even a 3 days later Ms. Ironthorn's funeral was being held by her brother Gus Thorns. When John walked through the doors he put on crocodile tears and a broken man's body, but behind this mask of griff was a twisted devil snickering at the close coffin in front of him. The other family and friends of Ms. Ironthorn screamed and cried as if a kind soul was put out by a freak “Accident.” John loved that word like it was a song, Accident not murder. To him he walks free of all crimes and punishments. To keep this fake sob story going he said a few words, even if he didn’t know exactly what took her out except it was an “Accident”. John had said through fake tears “My sweet dear mother always spoke highly of me and my plans, I was burdened to lose a father and a mother… but I’m left with a business that I shall grow to new highs to keep the family name in the highest titles. Just as she would have wanted.” Everyone sees a strong son trying to keep the family name alive alone, not a trickiest with a dark secret. Later that day a fancy black car pulled up to drive him to his empty house, where he would plot his next steps. When he saw this car he felt an odd unease about it, but still went on like it wasn’t important. The Driver was his mothers driver, but he was still here. He started to chat with John about his poor mother and what happened out on the grass of their yard. This made John cut him off and asked about why the car would be on the yard. The driver chuckles and responds “ What car, she died from slipping on the wet grass one morning for her morning smoke, speaking of which I could use one now.” This shocked John to his very soul, smoking was her bad habit but this was not how his plan was supposed to go. He then realizes what his drunken self did to a certain car his mother would ask to ride in often, it was this very one he was in. Before he could say “WAIT DON’T PUSH THE CIGARE…” KAboom! The car burst into a hellish flame when the drive clicked the cigarette lighter, the very thing his own mother would have done. His plan to shorten his family tree to get closer to his late fathers money and business, in the end took his life as well.

Back in the bar Jo chuckles and says “ Greed is a blinding thing, not everyone can have it, but it will consume you as much as you let it. Oh they are such faithful, faithful ugly people… “
