Chapter 10:
Mr. White — We Found You
A fractured vision tore through Sun-Z’s mind.
She was lying on a cold metal table.
Harsh white light burned above her, stabbing into her eyes as they fluttered open for barely a second. Her body felt impossibly heavy. Voices echoed around her—blurred figures arguing in low, urgent tones.
“No… the dosage isn’t stable—”
“She’s responding—”
Then a man stepped closer.
He studied her face in silence, his presence calm, controlled—unsettling.
Finally, he spoke.
“Increase the anesthesia.”
A sharp sting pierced her veins.
Darkness swallowed everything.
—
It was the same man.
The same one Star X had crashed into at the market.
The same one who had stood there, smiling politely.
Sun-Z jolted awake at 2:00 a.m., gasping for air. Her heart pounded violently as if trying to escape her chest. Beside her, Star X slept peacefully, unaware.
Sun-Z whispered to herself, her voice shaking.
“There’s no way… that wasn’t a dream. It was him. The same person.”
She pressed a hand to her chest.
“Why… why doesn’t my heart feel like he’s dangerous?”
She swallowed hard.
“I can’t sleep.”
Quietly, she slipped out of bed.
Downstairs, she poured herself a glass of water and stepped onto the balcony. The stars stretched endlessly above her—but something beneath her feet moved.
The house trembled… gently.
She gripped the railing.
“…So it’s time for it to turn toward sunrise.”
Despite everything, she smiled faintly.
“That’s actually kind of cool.”
Then she noticed movement.
At the end of a narrow alley between the houses, two young men lurked near a small shop. They whispered urgently, forcing something against the door.
Sun-Z’s breath caught.
“A robbery…? Seriously?”
She hesitated—then quietly slipped out of the house, keeping to the shadows.
“What are they doing…? Are they really thieves?”
The door creaked.
Her pulse spiked.
“I shouldn’t be here. I should leave before this gets bad…”
Then a memory surfaced.
“Thank you for helping us. I hope you like my candy.”
The old shop owner’s warm smile tightened her chest.
“…I can’t just leave him.”
Beside the store sat a barrel filled with iron poles. Sun-Z focused, reaching carefully—
—but the entire barrel began to rattle violently.
“No—no, no! I just need one!”
The thieves froze.
Weapons raised, they crept toward the noise.
“Oh my God… what do I do now?!”
Sun-Z forced herself to breathe.
Think.
The men peeked into the alley.
“Probably a cat,” one muttered.
“Yeah.”
They relaxed.
The barrel flew.
It smashed into them with a deafening crash.
“WHO DID THAT?!”
Sun-Z lifted the iron poles into the air.
“GHOSTS!!!”
They fled screaming into the night.
Sun-Z laughed softly, relief washing over her.
“…hehe I’m getting better.”
She bent to put everything back—
—and felt it.
A presence. As his shadow coverd her body from behind.
And before she could fully turn, something sprayed across her face.
Her legs gave out instantly.
The world tilted.
As Mr. White stood above her.
“It was a good decision to come out this late,” he said calmly.
“I was hoping to find a weak signal near where you sleep. And I was right.”
A villager watched helplessly from an upstairs window as Mr. White lifted Sun-Z and disappeared into the darkness.
—
At morning, Star X slammed her fists against the boy’s door.
“Wake up! Wake up—this is an emergency!”
“Later…” Shadow Light groaned.
The door opened.
“What’s wrong?” Black Storm asked.
Star X’s voice broke.
“Sun-Z is missing.”
Shadow Light was awake instantly.
They gathered in Mrs. Kelly’s kitchen.
“When was the last time you saw her?” Black Storm asked.
“Last night, before i went to sleep” Star X said. “She’s been gone too long.”
“I woke up at sunrise,” Mrs. Kelly added. “She never came out.”
Star X’s eyes filled with panic.
“What if she was kidnapped?”
“That’s ridiculous,” Shadow Light snapped. “Maybe she just ran off.”
“She wouldn’t!” Star X in a worried tone. “She wouldn’t disappear!”
Black Storm placed a firm hand on her shoulder.
“don’t worry,We’ll find her. Together.”
—
Sun-Z woke with a splitting headache.
She sat on a couch in a dark, unfamiliar room.
“…Where am I?”
She staggered toward the door.
In the next room, a man stood calmly, sipping coffee.
“You’re awake,” he said gently. “Good morning, Sun-Z.”
Her blood froze.
It was him.
“Y-You’re the man from the market! Why am I here? How do you know my name?!”
He smiled politely and offered his hand.
“Allow me to introduce myself properly. I am Professor White.”
Sun-Z stared at his outstretched hand, shock spreading through her entire body.
Sun-Z: “W-What?! You’re Mr.white!!!”
—
Back in the village, Star X walked beside Black Storm as they searched every corner for Sun-Z.
Black Storm stopped anyone he could find—shopkeepers, passersby, villagers heading home—asking the same question again and again. Each answer was the same.
No.
They hadn’t seen her.
With every rejection, Star X’s steps grew slower. Her shoulders sank, and her chest tightened as if something heavy were pressing down on her.
Black Storm noticed.
He slowed his pace.
“You’re still worried, aren’t you?” he asked quietly.
Star X nodded. “Yes… I am.”
He didn’t tease her. Didn’t dismiss it.
“Sun-Z is strong,” he said instead. “She can take care of herself. I’m sure she’s okay.”
Star X bit her lip, staring at the ground.
“But if she went out at night,” she said softly, “why didn’t she tell us? That doesn’t make any sense…”
Black Storm was silent for a moment.
“Maybe she didn’t want to wake us,” he said. “Or maybe something unexpected happened.”
He glanced ahead, eyes sharp.
“Either way… I promise we’ll find her. Let’s keep looking.”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a wrapped candy bar, holding it out to her—almost awkwardly.
“Here.”
Star X blinked. “What’s this?”
“I meant to give it to you earlier,” he said. “At the village feast. An old man thanked us by giving us candy while you weren’t around.”
Her eyes lit up.
She took it with both hands, as if it were something precious.
“Thank you…”
She smiled.
It was small. Simple.
But for a brief moment, the tension in star X’s chest eased—
as if that candy alone had made the search feel lighter.
Shadow Light returned calling from a far ,runing with a breathless villager.
Shadow Light:
“Guys! I found something!”
They all stopped as the man struggled to catch his breath.
Villager:
“I saw it from my window ,last night. Mr. Gas’s shop was being robbed, and your friend stopped the thieves and scared them off.”
Black Storm:
“How do you know she was our friend?”
Villager:
“She made a barrel and iron poles float in the air. The thieves ran screaming.”
Star X gasped.
Star X:
“That was Sun-Z!”
The man hesitated.
Villager:
“But there was another man… I don’t know what he did, but he came from behind and knocked her unconscious.”
Black Storm clenched his fists.
Black Storm:
“Was he one of Gazley’s men?”
Shadow Light:
“No… it was Mr. White!”
Star X:
“Mr. White?!”
Villager:
“I couldn’t see clearly, but he looked like him.”
Black Storm:
“Do you know where Mr. White lives?”
Villager:
“of caurse .. he told us he lives behind the hill.”
Everyone (screamed):
“BEHIND THE HILL!!”
It was the same hill where their capsules had fallen.
They ran without another word.
—
At Mr. White’s house, Sun-Z sat across from him.
Mr. White:
“You were looking for me?”
Sun-Z:
“Yes. We don’t remember anything—only your name. We think it’s connected to who we are… and where we came from.”
Mr. White:
“Are you all together?”
Sun-Z:
“Yes. Star X, Shadow Light, Black Storm… and me.”
Mr. White nodded slightly.
“Good. We should meet them.”
Before he could say more, the front door exploded open.
Black Storm immediately leapt into a fighting stance.
Shadow Light’s hands ignited with heat.
Star X slammed an energy sphere into the floor, blasting a crater beneath their feet.
Shadow Light:
“We’re here to save you, Sun-Z!”
Black Storm:
“Step away from her!”
Star X:
“Hyaaaah!”
—but instead of a hostage, they found Sun-Z sitting calmly at the table.
Sun-Z:
“Hey guys… you’re just in time.”
Mr. White stared at the ruined floor, stunned.
Mr. White:
“Well… that was unexpected.”
Later, they all sat together as Mr. White finished introducing himself.
Shadow Light stared at him in disbelief.
“Professor… White?”
Star X rubbed the back of her neck shyly.
“I’m really sorry about the floor…”
Mr. White smiled faintly.
“It’s all right. Don’t worry about it.”
The room filled with a tense, restless curiosity.
Mr. White:
“I’m sure you have many questions.”
Shadow Light:
“Who are we? And where did we come from?”
Mr. White folded his hands.
“You are special children from a city far away from here.”
Shadow Light frowned.
“Far away?”
Mr. White:
“That city was completely destroyed in an enemy attack. We had no choice but to send you away first to protect you. I followed after you.”
Sun-Z leaned forward.
“Why was our city destroyed? Who are these enemies?”
Mr. White’s eyes darkened.
“We don’t know. But they were targeting you. Your abilities made you too valuable. The people of your city refused to hand you over… and they lost that battle.”
Black Storm crossed his arms.
“Even though we seem to come from a more advanced place.”
Mr. White nodded.
“Exactly. That’s why it was safer to hide you in a simple village like this one.”
Black Storm’s gaze sharpened.
“Is that why our memories were erased… and we were given nicknames?”
Mr. White hesitated.
He’s sharp. I need to be careful…
Mr. White:
“Your memory loss was caused by a gas leak from the ship. It’s only partial amnesia. It happened accidentally when you arrived—we didn’t even have time to give you protective masks. Your memories will return in time.”
Star X swallowed hard.
“What about our families? Do we even have families?”
Mr. White lowered his voice.
“I’m sorry… but you were orphaned from the beginning.”
Shadow Light slammed his fist against the chair.
“I want to go back and see our city for myself!”
Mr. White:
“You can’t. Not yet. You must stay hidden until you regain your memories and fully control your powers. I’ll train you myself.”
Black Storm leaned closer.
“Our vehicles—you hid them, didn’t you?”
Mr. White:
“Yes. I destroyed their signals.”
Black Storm:
“Can we see them?”
Mr. White:
“I buried them too deeply to recover now.”
For a long moment, the two stared at each other in silence.
Shadow Light finally sighed.
“So… what’s the plan? We live here with you now?”
Mr. White:
“Yes. This house was prepared long ago for emergencies. Sun-Z, why don’t you show them around?”
Sun-Z smiled.
“Sure!”
Upstairs, Shadow Light and Black Storm froze at the sight of their room.
Shadow Light:
“You’re kidding me. We’re sharing again?”
Black Storm:
“Shut up. Who’d want to share with you?”
In the girls’ room, Star X rushed to the window.
Star X:
“Wow… the view is amazing!”
Sun-Z opened the closet.
“The colors are limited, but Mr. White said the clothes are made from special fibers. They won’t burn or tear from our powers.”
Star X’s eyes sparkled.
“That’s awesome! Let’s pick our outfits!”
A fashion show erupted almost instantly.
The two girls laughed, argued, posed dramatically in front of the mirror, and debated practicality versus style—thrilled by the idea of future adventures. In the end, they chose outfits sturdy enough for battle and stepped out proudly.
At the top of the stairs, they nearly collided with the boys—who had also changed.
Sun-Z blinked.
“Why are you wearing shorts?”
Shadow Light shrugged.
“Because it’s hot, and I hate the heat.”
She glanced at Black Storm, dressed completely differently.
“You two couldn’t be more different.”
Black Storm:
“This feels more comfortable to me.”
Star X spun in place, admiring everyone.
“We look awesome!”
Later, they stood outside the house, staring up at it in silence.
Sun-Z:
“So… we’re really going to live here.”
Black Storm:
“Yeah.”
Star X:
“We should tell Mrs. Kelly first, so she won’t worry. And we need to thank her.”
Black Storm hesitated, then spoke firmly.
“I promise we’ll get our memories back… and we’ll find out who’s really targeting us.”
Shadow Light nodded.
“We have to be extra careful. We can’t trust him.”
Sun-Z:
“We’ll do our best.”
Star X tilted her head, confused by their seriousness.
Why are they all so serious? Am I the only one who thinks Mr. White is kind?
She suddenly straightened.
“Yes!”
They stared at her—then burst into laughter.
Sun-Z laughed.
“You’re dangerous when you’re that innocent.”
Shadow Light:
“Seriously… you’re too pure.”
Black Storm:
“Be careful, Star X.”
She waved her hands awkwardly.
“Okay, okay, I get it!”
