Eight days had passed since our last 'physical contact'.
Akame was living her life as she always did. The only difference now was all the glances she kept throwing at me every time she noticed me.
I tried to stay discreet. I kept my distance as much as I could.
How could I enjoy the story if I was always being spotted?
When I crossed her in a hallway, I threw myself into the first room nearby.
When she woke up in the morning, I disappeared the moment she opened her eyes.
In the classroom, I avoided looking at her and tried to follow the lesson without drawing attention.
I always enjoyed attending classes in the worlds I ended up in.
I took advantage of all these lives to broaden my knowledge. Even if my memory wasn’t unlimited, I tried to absorb as much as I could from every world I crossed.
These past few days, Akame had been spending her late afternoons practicing magic.
Did she want to increase her power even further? Yet she was already the best in her school…
She was constantly venturing into dungeons and often came home exhausted.
Worried, I followed her everywhere she went, just in case something went wrong.
There wasn’t much I could do, but if she collapsed again, I could at least bring her back.
Today, she seemed less tired than usual.
Taking advantage of a quiet moment to fly, I danced through the air toward the manor.
Flying was liberating. I could do it for hours.
Sometimes, in the evening, I let myself drift into the night, flying over the fields while gazing at the stars. Magical moments.
As I approached the manor, I turned and saw her in the distance.
I gently settled on the rooftop terrace, enjoying the view.
It was lunchtime. And I had received enough stares for today.
I stayed on the roof, watching the sky.
Was it always like this?
What did it look like before?
My old life was now nothing but scattered dust, and I struggled to remember it.
While I was lost in thought, the ground suddenly darkened beneath my feet.
“What the…?”
My body became tangible again.
My feet touched the ground.
I was surprised, but unlike before, I could move.
I turned around.
And I saw her.
Akame.
