Bayley
“Chief Abbers?” Alex warmly asks, announcing herself.
“Bayley, please,” the chief stands, a nervous smile framing her face, as she holds her hand out. “Thank you for meeting me beta Alex, I'm sorry I barged in.”
“Please, call me Alex. And don't worry about the impromptu meeting, I assume it's important as you don't come off as the type of person to show up without any notice,” Alex smiles, gently but firmly shaking Bayley’s hand.
“Yes…um well- I wanted to talk about the other day with you…” Bayley trailed off, supposedly expecting Alex to fill in the gap. Is she asking me what exactly yesterday was? Or does she know and is just here to get confirmation?
“Yesterday?” Alex replies dumbly, taking a seat in one of the identical patio set chairs placed around a decently sized circular table for the beautiful days when you want to get all the sun and none of the heat, waving for Bayley to join her.
“Yes,” Bayley nods, plopping in the seat across from Alex, “The woman you were with, you called her Mer,” Bayley pauses, waiting for Alex’s nod of acknowledgment, “is she okay? She seemed a bit shaken and…I - I wanted to properly apologize for scaring her. I want our relationship to be open and understanding, scaring an omega…that is not acceptable on either end,” Bayley said, waving between the two, “So, I would just like to say I am so sorry.” Bayley finished, the sincerity dripping from her words.
“Chief - Bayley,” Alex corrected with a smile, “It was an accident. I know I'm new here but Vanessa doesn't seem like the kind of alpha to throw away over a hundred years of werewolf-human communication and community, beta Oliver and I aren't those kinds of betas, so please. Stop worrying,” Alex says, giving Bayley a reassuring smile. “All though…” Alex trailed off.
Bayley leaned forward, concern twisting her face, “Yes?”
“Well, I imagine you know this, our omegas are our glue. While the betas keep the place running inwardly and the alphas outwardly…the omegas keep us running. Not to mention doing portions of our work just to help or to keep us from getting overwhelmed. Plus they do a lot for the pack too. This means the pack takes their opinions very seriously…so if Omega Mer were to…fear you, even quietly, the pack would defend her. Which could range from ostracizing you to varying levels of force. And not just the pack but all of us.” Alex sighed, resting her chin on her hand. “It is an instinct. Alphas are made to protect, betas are made to provide, and omegas are made to…well love,” Alex chuckled, “Omegas have a better sense of people. Since alphas and betas are made to take care of everyone they never remember themselves so omegas do it for them. To remind them to stop to eat, to bandage their wounds, that they are more than a protector…That they aren't monsters,” Alex’s smile dimmed, “But to do that they’re more sensitive in every way. Heightened senses and feelings, even higher than an alpha’s. Both theirs and others. The only thing about them that isn't strong is their bodies. They have all the abilities of any other werewolf the only difference being their strength, while still much stronger than a human they are easily overpowered by their fellow wolves though with hard work and determination they could become as strong or in some cases stronger. But most omega’s don't have the time or access to learn how to protect themselves and loved ones and alpha’s don't know how to teach them. So they teach them what they can and keep a close eye on them. So, Bayley, I would suggest you smooth out any past or present problems,” Alex smiled.
