Chapter 16 – First Attack (Part 2)

The moment Jake turned back, his chest tightened.

Something was wrong.

Not danger—
pressure.

A familiar, crawling sensation slid beneath his skin, the same feeling he had experienced moments before disasters back at the facility.

Jake:
“…That feeling again.”

Before anyone could ask what he meant—

The sky exploded.

A deafening blast ripped through the air above the village. Shockwaves tore through rooftops, shattering windows as people screamed and fled in every direction.

Smoke rose in violent spirals.

Black Storm:
“The village—!”

They launched forward without hesitation.

Back at Mr. White’s house, alarms shrieked to life.

Red warnings flooded his monitors.

Mr. White’s eyes widened as data streamed across the screen.

Mr. White:
"What's going on?!!”

The moment our friends reached the outskirts, they froze.

Hovering above the village was a massive armored vehicle, its surface layered with glowing panels and rotating cannons. Energy beams tore through streets, reducing buildings to rubble.

Lisa:
“No way…”

Jake:
“This doesn’t make sense. Why would something like this target a village?”

Black Storm clenched his fists.

Black Storm:
“…Impossible.”

His voice hardened.

Black Storm:
“Is this what Mr. White meant? Are we really being hunted by a city?”

He inhaled sharply.

Black Storm:
“It doesn’t matter. We stop it—together.”

They split instantly.

Black Storm:
“sun z—help me hold it in place. We stabilize it from behind!”

Lisa:
“Got it!”

Black Storm:
“Shadowlight! Star X! Test its durability—random attacks!”

Jake:
“I have a name, you know.”

Black Storm:
“I promise I’ll use it later. Let’s survive first.”

The vehicle roared as it fired again.

Lisa and Black Storm strained, magnetic force screaming through their bodies as they tried to slow the massive structure.

Lisa:
“It’s too heavy!”

Black Storm:
“Don’t stop! Even slowing it by a second helps!”

Meanwhile—

Emily hurled explosive energy spheres again and again.

They detonated harmlessly against a glowing barrier.

Jake fired concentrated blasts in a single direction—
Nothing.

Jake:
“Damn it! It’s not even reacting!”

Far away, inside the Leader’s headquarters, Gunner watched everything unfold through layered holograms.

He smiled.

Gunner:
“Fascinating… they can fly now.”

His eyes gleamed.

Gunner:
“Amazing growth rate. Good thing I installed nano-imaging in the air to oversee everything.”

He leaned back.

Gunner:
“All that’s left… is to push them past their limits.”

Screams echoed below.

Villagers were trapped beneath collapsed buildings.

Black Storm noticed.

Black Storm:
“sun Z ! Keep holding it—I’ll be right back!”

lisa:

"wait!! I can't!"

He broke away, sprinting through debris, tearing rubble apart with magnetic force.

Black Storm:
“Move! Help each other! Get as far away as you can!”

He looked at Emily and Jake's still unsuccessful attempts and tried to think.

"Star X and Jake have the most powerful attack we have, but it still doesn't affect it...

This Vehicle seems to have a powerful shield... but even if it's invincible, as long as it's flying..

it means it has a destructible engine!"

He then used the magnetic power to gather as much iron as he can towards him and compresses it into a single mass and launches the attack

As for Jake and Emily High above.

Jake:

" Damn it, it doesn't even affect it!"

black storm (calls out):

"Shadowlight..star X... I need you two to get closer and attack as hard as you can in the same spot.

We can bring it down if we maximize the attack in one place."

Jake’s eyes snapped to Emily.

She was sweating.

Breathing unevenly.

Her movements were slower.

Jake (sharp):
“…Emily.”

He flew toward her. And before she launched her attack, Jake appeared in front of her with both arms outstretched to stop her, much to everyone's surprise.

Emily:

"What's the matter with you?"

Jake:

" As I suspected, I've been feeling it for a while...your body temperature isn't normal!"

Emily:

" I'm fine!"

Jake:

"We both know you're not ! You're sick! You need to back off now and don't overload your body!"

As for black storm, he was looking at them from afar.

“What are they doing? This is not the time to be arguing!"

Standing at the back of the vehicle, where he found the hot jet engines, black storm formed the metal he collected and shot it towards the engine to enter it, but the power of the engine was too strong and too hot, which made this task more difficult as the metal did not enter but retreated backwards.

Too hot…Damn it!! I forgot that magnets are affected and weakened by high temperatures...

Every vehicle has a special shock system, so the only chance that the power of the jets will weaken is an external shock to the vehicle... which will allow the systems to adjust their power for seconds as they calculate the shock rating before returning to normal power... It's a loophole we should exploit... But what's taking them so long! ....

then he scream towrd them "Hurry up!!!!".

As for Emily and Jake, Jake was still determined to stick to his guns.

Emily angrily:

" I still can fight!!.. at least let me make this attack! Get out of my way! "

Jake angrily:

" No! You're the one who needs to get out of the way, you're weak! Don't be stubborn, it's not the right time.....

I'll do this attack alone, don't hold me up, we don't have time for a debate people are in danger !"

As Emily turns away in defeat, Jake exhaled in relief—, so he looks back at the big Vehicle to think.

“alright, now how are we going to take it down?"

Then—

She streaked past him like a missile.

Jake:
“YOU IDIOT—STOP!”

She landed atop the vehicle.

Everyone froze.

Emily:
“I’ve been practicing a technique… I never had the chance to use.”

Her body began to glow.much to the amazement of the villagers and to the surprise of our friends

Lisa (horrified):
“What is she doing?!”

Jake felt pure dread.

Emily’s entire form ignited.

A ticking silence.

Then—

BOOOOOOM!!!

A massive energy halo erupted outward.

The explosion tore through the vehicle’s upper hull.

The shockwave blasted everyone back—even those in the air.

Black Storm was thrown aside as the armored giant plummeted into the ground.

Black Storm:
“That’s—INCREDIBLE!”

The wreck split open.

Soldiers poured out. retreating

Black Storm’s eyes widened.

Black Storm:
“…Leader’s men?”

The realization hit hard.

Cheers erupted below—

The villagers rejoiced in their victory when Emily suddenly began to stagger from the sky

Then—

she faltered.

Her glow vanished.

She dropped.

Black Storm (screaming):
“STAR X—!!!”

Jake was already there.

He caught her just before she hit the ground, landing hard on his knees.

Emily trembled violently.

Jake:
“ Damn it, you idiot, I told you not to go!”

Her breathing was ragged.

Black Storm:
“What’s wrong with her?!”

Jake:
“She’s burning up—we need a doctor. Now!”

Lisa’s eyes widened as memory snapped into place.

The snake.

The smoke.

Lisa:
“She’s poisoned. Mrs. Kelly—she can help!”

Black Storm nodded instantly.

Black Storm:
“Move!”

They lifted Emily and vanished from the battlefield.
