As Grégoire walked around the streets, he saw different kinds of people: lizard humanoids, extremely tall humans, people with animal attributes like the ones his own body now had.
Time passed and it started to get dark. The streetlights turned on and the shops started to close.
Grégoire sat down on a bench and sighed, resting his head in his hands.
"Hey budddyyy," Gogli said as she sat down next to him and pulled out a small bag.
"What is that?" Grégoire stared at her and raised an eyebrow.
"Mama got paid," she said, wiggling the bag in her hand. The sound of coins could be heard.
"Wandering," he said. He looked down at the floor and frowned slightly, but Gogli didn't see it.
Gogli laughed at what he said, not realizing he was serious, and put the pouch inside her bag.
Grégoire lifted his head and saw a familiar figure in the street: the blonde woman from the manor in her chef's uniform.
"I've been seeing a lot act-" Gogli started.
Grégoire stood up quickly and looked at her.
"Hey, sorry. I need to go. It was nice seeing you again. I hope we can chat again soon."
"Oh okay bye-"
Grégoire ran toward the blonde woman and grabbed her shoulder.
"Hey. Ma'am," he said, panting gently.
The blonde woman looked behind her with an annoyed expression, but as soon as she saw who it was, her expression changed. Grégoire didn't really know how to describe it.
"Oh, hello William. What's going on?" She removed his hand from herself.
Grégoire quickly put his hands to his sides.
"Sorry. Could you take me back to the manor?"
The blonde woman raised an eyebrow and started walking.
"I thought you were home. I told Charlie to take your food to your room."
They walked for a while and finally reached the manor. As Grégoire walked in, the woman stepped out.
"I'ma head back home. Cya."
As she left, Grégoire called out.
"Thank you. Sorry for the inconvenience."
The blonde woman just stared at Grégoire and nodded.
"Goodnight, William."
Grégoire closed the door and climbed up the stairs. As soon as he got close to the room he was staying in, he saw Charlie eating a plate of food in the hallway.
Charlie stared at him for a moment and continued eating.
Grégoire closed the door to his room and sat down on his bed.
As soon as Grégoire started to relax, Charlie entered and walked in. She refilled her plate.
"I thought you died," she said, still eating.
Grégoire just looked at her and stayed silent.
"Go bathe, you're dirty." She started to leave the room. "I left you some clothes in the bath. Cya."
Grégoire, a ten-year-old boy from the French Revolution, suddenly awakens in a body that is not his own, forced to wear a pair of shoes that do not belong to him in an unforgiving world.
