Chapter Fifteen: Dinner Disaster POV change
Darevin's POV
And in an instant all Hell broke loose. As soon as Daniella said his name we knew shit was about to happen.
Sunny paled so much I thought she was going to faint. Then before I could blink she was up and out of her chair. Daniella started to laugh. She was laughing at my mate.
"Devin! Go after our mate. I'll deal with this traitor." I called her that because it became very clear she was here as a spy. She tricked my father into loving her after our birth mother, his fated mate, died when we were fourteen from a mysterious illness. Markus clearly sent wolves out far and wide to infiltrate packs so that if Sunny were to ever turn up at a different pack he would know right away.
I calmly walked over to her side of the table not giving away how much I was seething inside.
Kill her! Rip her head from her body! How dare she betray an Alpha like this! Rip her throat out!
My wolf was tempting me to act without thinking but I knew she needed to be questioned.
She smiled a sinisyer smile up at me. "You see she is going to be no good for you or the pack my son. She would nothing but chaos and destruction. Just hand her over to Markus and everything will be fine." She still thought she was going to be fine. She thought she was holding the cards.
I grabbed her by the throat and yanked her up. Her feet weren't even touching the ground anymore. I could see the panic in her eyes. She really thought she was going to get away with colluding with another pack, with another alpha. She clearly knew it was the same Sunny which means she most likely already got word to her former alpha about Sunny's whereabouts.
"There's a special place in Hell for bitches like you. And I'm going to help you wish you were there instead of here." I dropped her body onto the ground and grabbed her hair at the roots dragging her behind me as I went down the stairs into the dungeon. I made she she hit a few walls on way there.
I threw her into the last cell. Shackling her leg to the bed and locking her in. I planned on leaving her down here for a couple days before the torture would begin. Let her mind run rampant with all the possiblities. I hope she drove herself mad down there in the dark.
Theo I have a special assignment for you. I need you to watch a prisoner and to not speak a word to her no matter what she says. She is down there for treason against the entire pack.
The response I got back was immediate
Yes Alpha!
I made way back into the kitchen only to see my father with his head in his hands.
"It's not your fault, you know? She would have found anyway into the pack whether it through marrying you or someone else in the pack."
"I should have known! I shared secrets with her. Things no other pack member knows! Chances are she told that other alpha everything! They know all our pack secrets! Our escape plans, our secret tunnels, everything!"
"We will come up with new plans and seal the old passage ways. We will start this pack from scratch if we have to. This was not your fault, dad. I'm going to go check on my mate. I can tell something isn't right. Her mind is everywhere right now." I couldn't worry about my father when my mate was in distress. I heard a door burst open and quickened my ascent. What I saw made my blood freeze. Devin was trying to kick the bathroom door down. I could barely hear our mates heart beating.
"What's going on?!"
"I think she fainted in there but I can't get this damn door to open!"
"Move." I walked over to the door and twisted the handle until it broke into pieces and gently opened the door. Instantly my eyes landed on my mate curled up in the comforter in the bathtub. Her breathing was even and her heart rate calm. I walked over and gently picked her up. Devin moved out of the doorway as I walked over to the bed, gently laying her down and covering her in the blankets.
"Let's just let her rest for now. She might wake up soon. Go down and get dad. He's having a hard time right now. We need to start planning our next move. We are going to need dad's input and Sunny's knowledge of the enemy. Go ahead and bring the food up here as well I'm sure she'll be hungry when she wakes." I felt bad barking orders at my brother but, right now I needed my Beta.
Sunny has been on the run for over eight years. Life wasn't easy for a measly 10-year-old surviving on her own. Living purely on her werewolf instincts she's survived on her own. Honing her hearing and smell in order to sense danger long before it strikes. She's only ever known loneliness. What happens when she runs into another wolf's territory? Will all her struggling be for naught or will she finally know what it is to live?
