Hiding amongst the giant woodlands lay the ant nest, a circular construct possessing many layers on the surface. These layers circled in wavy spirals, occasionally having ramps to advance upward and small tunnels that led underground. Guarding this colony valiantly stood all remaining ants, not engaging the bats, a grand sixty per cent of their remaining forces. Guarding the front lines are thousands of ants from the worker and soldier classes. In smaller squads behind these valiant troops were the generals, who, despite only numbering in the hundreds, are a powerful threat. In the centre of this formation were the strongest, the last surviving defiants. These elite forces had been charged with the mission of fighting Scrowl alongside two special ants. Standing in the centre of the formation was her highness the Queen, who would be participating while Ari guarded Calamity inside. Having analysed the ants’ formation, the wolves were prepared but had not begun their extermination.
Staring deep into enemy lines, Scrowl discreetly watches Wost, who is sneaking into the nest. As Wost stood in front of a suitable entry tunnel, he signalled Scrowl before leaping in. Directing his attention to the battle, Scrowl began glowing as his magic power and strength surged from activating ‘Divinity Lv. 1’ and ‘Divine Boost Lv. 2’. Starting the battle, Scrowl unleashes his ‘Holy Howl Lv. 3’, boosting all his allies’ abilities. The forces comprised of workers and soldiers charge for the wolves upon hearing the defiants' screech, but are met with a cruel reality. In mere moments, hundreds of them died at the hands of the wolves, making it clear they were nothing but fodder. Meeting the generals in battle, the wolves are slowed, having met a force capable of competing with them. Targeting the leader of the colony, Scrowl leaps over the generals and begins charging for the Queen and her elite forces.
Arriving before the apex of the hill, Scrowl comes face to face with the Queen and her elites. Looking down upon them from his ten-meter height, they look small yet large in comparison to other ants. Leaping forward to kill the Queen, Scrowl hears a crumbling originating from the ant hill. Unable to stop his momentum, he stares at the cracks, wondering what is happening. Standing proudly atop her nest, Aritsu stares at the massive wolf fearlessly as she raises a leg.
“Eldest of my defiants, far stronger than your fellows due to your curse. It is time for your final battle! First Defiant Eviction Ant Grant, time to lay down your life!” declares Aritsu as the ground crumbles away. Bursting out of the anthill came a defiant, far more menacing one than the others. Seeing Grant, both Scrowl and the defiants are shocked by its four-meter height and sixteen-meter length. This behemoth crashes into Scrowl midair, sending both crashing into countless ants.
Not missing the freshly made chance, Aritsu orders, “All defiants, back up Grant! Do all you can to subdue that beast without dying!” before charging into battle herself. Spurred on by her enthusiasm, all the defiants charge, despite knowing it may very well be their end. Throwing Grant off him Scrowl stands and sends the incoming defiants flying, buying time for him to hunt the Queen. Seizing the opportunity, he strikes down but narrowly misses the fatal blow as he is once again charged by Grant. Being surrounded by Grant, the defiants and countless ants, Scrowl realises he can’t simply go straight for the Queen.
“So, to get to your leader, I’ll have to massacre the rest first, so be it,” coldly states Scrowl while glaring at the ant Queen.
Locking limbs with Scrowl, Grant attempts to hold him in place as the other defiants slash. Bolstering his muscles, Scrowl leaps off the ground, using Grant’s weight to flip over him. Having evaded the countless defiants, Scrowl spins midair, sweeping Grant off his feet and slamming him into other ants. Struggling on the ground, the near mindless, defiant and violently thrashes around, crushing nearby ants. What frees Grant wasn’t her own strength, but another defiants slashing for Scrowl’s neck. This slash wouldn’t have so much as hurt him, but he dodged. Any creature that has experienced battle would protect its vitals, even against an opponent far weaker. Heroic as that brave, defiant may be, she didn’t live long after that. Rampaging forward, it was Grant who unknowingly ate her while attempting to devour Scrowl’s flesh. Scrowl elegantly evades these attempts while crushing other defiants. Sensing an attack incoming from behind, he spins with incredible speed, catching the culprit and throwing her into Grant. Fazed by the unexpected projectile, she stumbles, creating an ideal opening.
Appearing above, Grant Scrowl raises his claws, radiating divine light. Aiming for the neck, Scrowl activated ‘Sacred Claw Lv. 2’, raising his offensive power drastically. Mere seconds from ending his biggest nuisance, the three remaining defiants rammed his arm, causing his trajectory to falter. His strike fell just short of Grant’s neck before quickly rising again, slicing through the meddling defiants. Grant had disappeared in that moment, but mere meters ahead of Scrowl appeared Queen Aritsu.
Without so much as a thought, Scrowl charged for Queen Aritsu, unaware of what she held. Utilising her limited strength, she threw an ant who had used the ‘Minimise’ skill. Becoming a living missile, Grant rapidly swelled back to full size, colliding with Scrowl. Tanking the blow, Scrowl is sent skidding back but ultimately remains standing. Freeing a glowing claw, Scrowl looked down upon Grant, who bled heavily from a gaping hole in her head. Slowly tearing his eyes away from the strongest ant he ever fought, Scrowl returns his attention to the Queen.
“All your guards capable of fighting me have died; it’s time for your turn.” Declared Scrowl as he tramples Grant’s fresh corpse.
As the battle began outside, Wost utilised his abilities to infiltrate the ant colony, tracking the repugnant scent of Calamity. Turning a corridor, he spots a pair of generals guarding a tunnel from which Calamity’s scent wafts. Silently jumping up, he began crawling on the ceiling, staying out of the generals’ direct line of sight. Despite being clearly visible, they didn’t notice him, an effect of his skill ‘Lurk Lv. 2’, allowing him to go undetected if he isn’t being directly observed. Arriving above a general, he drops down, quickly slicing its neck. Its body thudding to the ground attracts the attention of the other general. Looking over, she sees her friend standing upright, making her wonder if she misheard. A second later, her neck was slashed, and her head fell. Releasing a sigh of relief, Wost is once again grateful for his skill ‘Mirage Lv. 1’ that allows him to create false images. Returning to the ceiling, he moves over to the tunnel entrance, peeping into the room from above.
