Fallen Jewel

Chapter 8- Ari Part 1

Chapter 8- Ari Part 1

Jan 26, 2026

We are surrounded.

I could tell these people didn't want to be our friends or wanted our autographs. We were out of their league, and from the look of it, they wouldn't let us escape. Krishna brought out his trident, Reika got up, and began to square off our options, and I unchained my weapon. I glanced at Rei. She had gone pale; blood ran down her cheek from her left eye. Her eye wasn't activated.

Does that mean they aren't demons?

Maybe they wanna help, but can't help looking evil?

"Who are you?" Krishna asked. They all smiled at us, not giving us an answer.

"Are you human?" I asked them, spinning the chain to bring some sort of protection between us. A girl who was probably twelve began to laugh out loud.

"Do we look human?" She laughed out. Maybe I asked a stupid question.

"What do you want from us?" Rei asked. She could sense something we couldn't. The guy in the center with a mole looked her up and down. He wore a whole tuxedo as if he were going to go to a ball after this.

"Give us the Mani," he said as he extended his hand out.

Does he want Rei's Mani because she's a holder?

Krishna and I came in front of Reika protectively.

"Why do you want out, Mani? Just who are you people?" I asked them. Tuxedo guy dropped his hand and sighed out loud.

A man next to him with long, waist-length hair showed his teeth to us. "Listen, Missy. I would recommend doing what we say, or else."

"Or else what?" I pressed. One guy with white-framed glasses pushed them up his nose. "You'll die." Reika suddenly burst out laughing. Did she lose a screw or something? Krishna and I stared at her in confusion.

"I think we already knew that when we stepped into this town. So, tell me something I don't know. We will never give you our Mani. You can go to hell," Reika told them.

The twelve-year-old girl burst out laughing. "This girl's gonna cause us problems. I hate her!" I spun the chain around us faster, making a shield. The air around here was changing.

"Any ideas how we could get out of here... alive?" I whispered for only those two to hear.

"Who are you people?" Reika asked instead.

The guy with the suit spoke, "Why are you so interested in knowing who we are?"

"Let's just say, I love to know the names of the people I'll be fighting," Reika told them with no hesitation. Only I could tell that she was trembling from fear.

"I like your spirit. We are the Noe family," the guy with the suit said. He smiled at us, and before we could blink, he came through my shield and slammed my head against the tree hard.

 I swear I heard a crack.

Black spots danced in my vision. Five of them turned around and left while snickering at us. As if they knew we were no match and a waste of time. The twelve-year-old girl with the pixie haircut licked her lips.

"Now, will you give us the Mani?" Tuxedo asked. Reika grabbed him with her big hand, and he sighed out loud.

Suddenly, Rei's hand exploded. Blood flew around us as her screams shook the forest. She fell on her knees, cradling her hand, which had returned to normal except that it had completely shattered.

Krishna tried stabbing the tuxedo with his trident, but the tuxedo stopped him with a finger. Krishna pushed hard, but not even one drop of blood dripped from the tuxedo's finger. He let go, grabbing Krishna's trident, then stabbed him with it.

Blood poured out fast like a waterfall. He pushed Krishna's forehead, letting him fall on the ground. Reika got up, spitting blood on the ground.

She pulled out a knife from her boot and charged at the tuxedo with a battle cry. But he caught her wrist, twisted it until she cried out, and dropped the dagger on the ground. He picked it up, twirled it in his fingers, and stabbed her multiple times until he dropped her on the ground.

She didn't move. I cried out in panic. Tuxedo turned his attention to me.

"Don't worry. I'll leave you alive," he said, giving me that scary smile. He walked slowly toward me, and I couldn't move. He sat on the balls of his feet to get to the same eye level. I noticed that I was breathing hard and my eyes were wide from fear.

"You've such a pretty face," he said as he cupped my jaw. He turned my face, then picked up my hand. He examined my hand, but when he was distracted, I tightened my grip on my dagger and went for his throat. A sudden cold hand closed around mine. I looked at it to see that it was the Tuxedo.

"Did you think a human like you could touch me?" He brought my hand with the dagger to my other hand. He pushed the blade into my skin, and I screamed out loud. He took my hand off the dagger and placed both of his hands on my arm, and bent it in the wrong direction.

At that moment, I passed out from pain.
