“...Are you sure this is going to work?” Wei Yaozu asked hesitantly as he stood outside of Luo Jie’s bamboo hut.

“Just trust me, Lord Wei! Shixiong can’t resist helping someone in need!” Song Qingge assured him. From what she knew about Luo Jie from Alone at the Highest Peak, she was sure he would fall into her trap!

“As long as you stick to the script, Shixiong will have no choice but to spend some time alone with you! Do your best!” As soon as she was done reassuring Wei Yaozu, Song Qingge knocked on Luo Jie’s door twice before quickly running behind some nearby bushes to hide. She did her best to stand completely still as Luo Jie’s door slowly creaked open.

“Ah, Wei Shidi, what brings you here so early in the morning?” Luo Jie said happily, but Wei Yaozu could barely hear him over the sound of his beating heart. His vision began to grow blurry at the sight of Luo Jie's tall, muscular frame, and he could feel his palms beginning to grow damp with sweat.

It’s really him

Shixiong…my shixiong…

He’s really here… and he doesn’t hate me yet…

Wei Yaozu clutched his chest unconsciously. He could still clearly remember the pain of being run through by Luo Jie’s sword, but the physical pain hardly compared the heartbreak he had experienced on that fateful day.

But despite the tragic ending to his past life, Wei Yaozu couldn’t help but love Luo Jie.

When Wei Yaozu loved someone, his heart would never waver, and he would do anything to make that person his and his alone. “Um, Wei Shidi, are you alright…?” Luo Jie asked after a minute of awkward silence. His words momentarily snapped Wei Yaozu back to reality.

“U-um… S-shixiong- I…” he stuttered. Despite Wei Yaozu’s best efforts, his tongue felt as though it was made of lead, and he was completely unable to get out a full sentence!

Song Qingge was about to pull out her hair in frustration!

Wei Yaozu!!! You can bully me without missing a single word, but at the most critical part of my plan you can’t manage to say one simple line!?!

What kind of bull**** is that!?

Song Qingge was so angry that she almost ran out of her hiding place to knock some sense into her Shidi!

Luckily for Wei Yaozu, Luo Jie was much more patient than Song Qingge.

“Wei Shidi, have you come here to ask me something?” He asked kindly. Luo Jie’s gentle tone managed to calm Wei Yaozu down just enough for him to finally say his line:

“Er- y-yes Shixiong, um, could you… h-help me with my cultivation?”

Song Qingge almost cried with relief at these words.

Luo Jie clapped him on the back good-naturedly, which sent Wei Yaozu spiraling once. With a kind smile Luo Jie said:

“Of course I can help, Wei Shidi! Song Shimei, why don’t you come out and join us as well? I’ll even invite Feng Shimei, and we can all go practice together!”

The protagonist of the original novel really can’t be underestimated!

Song Qingge was forced to awkwardly emerge from her hiding spot with leaves sticking out of her hair.

“Haha… Shixiong, it’s not what you think… I just happened to be passing by, and…” 

“Song Shimei” Luo Jie said “I already know what you were trying to do, so you don’t need to explain.”

Song Qingge began to sweat with anxiety. Had he somehow found out about their plan already?! Or had he misunderstood and thought that she was trying to bully Wei Yaozu? Either way, she had to clear things up with him quickly!

“Shixiong, I was really just-”

“You were just  trying to show Wei Yaozu that there was no need to be afraid of me, right?” Luo Jie said, whispering so that Wei Yaozu wouldn’t hear. “I appreciate it, Shimei, but Wei Shidi is very shy. Let’s not force him to do anything he’s uncomfortable with in the future, ok?”

Song Qingge was so shocked by his words that she just nodded instinctively.

“Thank you, Song Shimei! Why don’t you bring Wei Shidi to the bamboo grove while I go fetch Feng Shimei?”

Song Qingge had no choice but to follow her Shixiong's instructions.

I guess the plan failed… She thought, feeling a bit dejected.

The two junior disciples watched Luo Jie run off to get their Shijie with equally dark expressions. Once he was finally out of sight, Song Qingge couldn’t help but shoot Wei Yaozu a look of utter disappointment.

“If you say a single word, I’ll kill you right now.” He said, his face turning such a deep red that it looked almost purple.

Song Qingge couldn’t help but feel like his threats were starting to get a little bit old.

“...Come on, let’s just go…” She said with a deep sigh.
